I was trying to watch LiveTV this afternoon and from the look of the logs NPVR was locked up loading the system HE-AAC decoder and didn't renew the lease on 5F40002 fast enough and eventually this put NRecord into a state where there tuner count went negative. I needed to restart the recording service to use the HD PVR again.
anyone have a sample video overlay plugin (or whatever it is called, what is it called actually?) source code i can look at? wanting to have a quick play tonight and see what i can whip up.
NPVR has been updating the EPG at 7am every day without issue then on 26 Sept, it just stopped. The recording service has still been running as it has recorded shows since.
I thought maybe it is not waking up for some reason but then I saw in the log that in fact it was wide awake at 7am and busy "renew lease OK" every 10 seconds.
i will restart the pc tonight and see what tomorrow brings.
log attached if anyone (Sub?) has any ideas.
[actually I just saw a cmd.exe running. I wonder if i had a postprocessing.bat stuck (due to imagegrabber.exe being curiously missing from my pc). Sub, would a blocked bat file stop further bat files from running?]
Hi - I've got Windows Media Center and NPVR on my PC running Windows 7 64 Bit which has the Hauppauge DVB-S2 satellite card in it. In WMC after a scan using the 28.2 Astra 2, Eurobird 1, 'Dave' is shown in the listings and is a fully watchable channel - which is a bit odd as i only thought is was available on satellite via an encrypted service on SKY.
In NPVR when I choose ASTRA 2, Eurobird 2 and run a scan on that, Dave isn't shown at all. Any idea what the channel info is for Dave so that it can add it in to the '0282 ASTRA 2, EUROBIRD 1 (28.2E).ini file for NPVR?
I've just upgraded from GBPVR to latest NPVR with R1 patches and am enjoying the results of a lot of good work that's been put in at PVR HQ. I've upgraded now to deal with yet another channel frequency rehash at Mendip UK - the NPVR tuning arrangement has saved me several hours over GBPVR - great!
One aspect not working is playback of GBPVR mpg recordings on our win7 npvr client - I get blank screen and no sound. Playing the same file from the client by right click & load file in NPVR works fine - I've attached the whole log and two snippets below. Check out the different decoders loaded in each case?
Load from NPVR right click context menu 'load file' - works fine

VMR9 custom renderer
All codecs are the MS DTV-DVD decoders
I've experimented with alternative renderers and codecs - ffdshow and nvidia platinum trial - but the symptoms are unchanged.
mpeg recording playback works fine on the server (XP)
Thanks for any help!
... playing recordings made with NPVR on the client also works fine

hey sub not sure if you have time or desire for these but here are the things I miss the most from other PVRs.
- channel groups: with all sky channels, theres about 70 channels, its nice having groups like "General Entertainment", "Movies", etc you can switch between in the guide. Also changing channels during live tv a popup listing whats on scrolling up/down between channels and pushing left/right changes group and whats currently displayed in the list. the for the record plugin for mediaportal (might even be in mediaportal) does this and its really helpful and the best way ive seen to change channels during live tv.
- video inset/background: not sure where this went, use to be in gbpvr (not sure if it was in PVRX2) but its nice being able to go back to the menu without stopping playback.
- nice way to renumber channels. i had to double click on every channel and set the number in the popup for 70ish channels, nicer if it was a datatable and pushing enter went to the next row.
- option to auto play videos in a folder if only one video in that folder. all my movies are stored like \\server\movies\petes dragon\pete dragon.mkv. using folders as its the recommended way these days to store background and fanart together in the same folder
- codec info for playing video - doesnt have to be huge details but 720p, 1080p, dts, ac3 etc. just the basic in the blue info bar.
- keep settings: allow default to user configured (this might be in the config.xml file?) i never want "all" i want every to auto expire, so my default would be latest 10 recordings. also add keep date option, rather than last 10 recordings, keep for 7 days (my default in for the record was 14 days).
there are lots more, but thats a semi realistic list i suppose, video inset might be a lot of work... channel groups in guide and tv channel changing is my number one.
and since no one likes hearing whats bad/needs improving all the time. i just want to say you're doing a terrific job, nextpvr (not sure if ill ever get use to call it that) is a fantastic pvr, easiest to setup, best performance ive seen with live tv and recordings. but gbpvr was always the most reliable pvr i ever used.
I have a nPVR server with TV Listings on, i also have a client with this on running as a client, the client (not check the server) deletes all listtings older than 2000 from the day before.
Anyway to keep these history so i can see the past listings?
