  Trouble setting up client
Posted by: OTAjunkie - 2011-10-05, 01:18 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (11)

I'm trying to set up a client machine and keep getting;
"MachineXXXX\full path to,,,\npvr.db3 is not accessible. You don't got no permission to use this network resource.Contact yourself to see if you have access permissions.
Access is denied."

the OS of the server is XPMCE SP3 and is set to:
server: \\MCE
Database:\\MCE\documents and settings\all users\application data\npvr\npvr.db3 (this Npvr directory is shared)

the would be client is XP pro SP3
server: \\MCE
Database:\\MCE\documents and settings\all users\application data\npvr\npvr.db3

I get the same message when trying to open the directory with explorer but can access other shared folders.

Any ideas?

Meaning of Parameter "inversion" in Country ini Code for DVB-T
Posted by: jksmurf - 2011-10-05, 12:26 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

In the Channel Scan Country ini's there is a parameter "inversion". How can I tell whether this is correct or not?

When I tested this a year back, I used 1,0,8 but I don't know why http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post377790

sub's latest inis all show 0,0,8.

Does it affect anything?

Can Blu-ray folders be treated like DVD?
Posted by: cncb - 2011-10-04, 10:14 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

My DVD rip folders are treated nicely in that they have only one "file" listed in the folder named "Movie.dvd". I just select this to play. My Blu-ray rip folders are not treated similarly such that I have to drill down all the way into the BDMV folder and select "index.bdmv" at the end of all the subfolders in the list. Is there any way for these to be treated similarly to DVD folders or is this a wishlist item? Thanks.

Nrecord appears to hang and then crash
Posted by: Graham - 2011-10-04, 03:14 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

I installed npvr yesterday on a machine that has been running pvrx2 without problems for years.

The recording service appears to hang after recording for about 10 or 20 minutes.

None of the several recording that I attempted yesterday evening completed successfully.

I scheduled a bunch of recordings at 12.06 today with some to start immediately and some to start half an hour or an hour later. None of these worked.

Eventually the recording service and Windows offered to send a dump to Microsoft - the Send / Dont Send dialog box. I have attached the dialog box and some of the files created when the dump was created. The dump is at http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7NZ7T0HK

Thank you

Problem with Yellow button on PCH
Posted by: ElihuRozen - 2011-10-04, 01:40 PM - Forum: TV Listings - Replies (1)

On the PCH, TV Listings doesn't change guides when I press the Yellow button. I think it is because NextPVR defines the Yellow key as Alt+Y instead of Ctrl+Y & my configuration remaps that key. I am using lircd1 & it doesn't seem to be configurable. Even if it were, other parts of NPVR that I use expect the Alt+Y. Would it be possible to have TV Listings respond to Alt+Y the same way as Ctrl+Y?

Download link for Nmt mvpmcx2 not working
Posted by: Spidermonkey - 2011-10-04, 01:25 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (7)

I've just got round to setting up a PCH A110 for NPVR but I can't seem to download the NMTinstall. The link from several posts and the wiki direct me to http://www.mvpmc.org/~mvallevand/NMTInstall2.exe which doesn't seem to work, nor does the website for that matter.

Has the download location moved or is the website just down?

Recording service not running at recording time - and the recording always fails?
Posted by: jksmurf - 2011-10-04, 12:56 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

Other threads on this topic suggest the Recording service not running at recording time error often results in an error message and and the recording mostly works, but for me it always fails (at least three recordings in the last week), all digital channels.

Like in this post, I did (accidentally) delete a channel, and I did have to rescan my two FTA channels. I assigned BOTH tuners to BOTH channels and merged the 2+2 channels into just 2 (could this be an issue?). How does this work, when I test it and look at the tray icon Device status window I only eever see it doing anything on Digital TV:1 , never Digital TV:2. How can I be certain both work?

btw, oddly the rescan produced different frequencies for the SAME channels. Is this normal?

And even more odd, the recording that failed was the one in the log from this post http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post421439, posted 2 days before it failed....

Guide: Digital TV via Card Reader
Posted by: reven - 2011-10-04, 08:56 AM - Forum: NPVR Documentation - Replies (9)

hey guys, this is a rough guide to get this working, ill edit it and tweak it over the next few weeks. but some people have asked how to get this working and instead of PMing everyone, here it is (very rough, i will improve it, and writing all from memory so my terminology might be a little off).

I'll start with this: This is not meant to help you steal cable/paid television, i have no idea how you would do that, I have no desire to do that or help anyone do that. This is meant if you want to "have one box to rule them all". I dont want have to change inputs on my tv, not be able to stop watching a recording in the lounge and continue in the bedroom. I want a sexy interface and be able to view that on every machine/tv in the house.

Hardware
im using a "OMNIKEY 1021 USB" as my card reader that I bought off ebay for $17.99 + $2 shipping.
http://www.ebay.com/sch/tuutu5/m.html?_n...m270.l1313
only one I used and works well with Sky Digital in NZ.
I got a TBS card reader when I bought my quad tuner card from buydvb.net, but that burnt out the chip on my smart card. i think the settings/switches were wrong on it. The omnikey one doesn't have any settings, so no options to "fry your card" like the buydvb one.

Step 1. Oscam
oscam is a windows server with a web frontend. this handles the card reader side of things. you can use this instead of newcs (i found oscam easier). MDAPI plugins will connect to this service for decrypting the signal.

You need to setup users oscam so an mdapi plugin can connect to the server, much like a gmail account, username and password. My setup is i have a username/password for each instance and card. so I have 4 instances and a quad tuner, my usernames details are
tuner1a password
tuner1b password
tuner1c password
etc

Step 2. NextPVR
next pvr uses a mdapi plugin to do some magic, you need to enable multidec/CAM for the cards you want to tune decrypted channels. and specify how many streams you can record at once, I used 4.

Once you have done that nextpvr will create a "MDPlugins" directory with a folder for each tuner and instance/stream. in every one of those folders you need to put the acamd and a configuration file using the server details of oscam, username:password for each tuner/instance and the port etc. [ill expand on this later]

next pvr also requires a ffdecsa.dll in the root npvr directory (the c:\program files one, not the c:\users\public one). not sure what this does, but it needs it (all pvrs seem to)
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post377803

you *may* also need to install "mdapifilter 2009 v3", for the record and mediaportal require this so I assumed next pvr does aswell.

Basic Overview
[CARD Reader] <--> [OSCAM Server] <--> [ACAMD Plugin] <--> [NextPVR]
nextpvr loads acamd.
acamd talks to oscam for decrypting
oscam uses card to decrytion keys.
then goes back down the chain.

the hardest part for me was the configuration file for the acamd tuners, that each tuner had a different user, what to put into those settings. i'll upload samples of my configuration files later (dont have them on this computer).

hope that makes a little sense....

err i hope this post is ok, if its not, and too much in the grey area, I understand if you need to delete it.
