  *.ISO playback issue
Posted by: hoborg - 2011-09-05, 06:15 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (18)

Hi.
Yesterday i noticed this issue:

I have one real DVD drive (H) and second virtual (I) Daemon tools lite drive.
If i try to play *.ISO file, NPVR start playback from real DVD drive instead of mounted one if there is a DVD present in real drive.
If i eject DVD from real drive, ISO is played correctly from virtual drive. NPVR should be configured OK.

Can this be a NPVR bug?

How to make Hauppauge Analogue record natively in 16:9 rather than 4:3
Posted by: mvallevand - 2011-09-05, 04:07 AM - Forum: General Discussion - No Replies

The caption says it all. If your STB is capable of 16:9 this might be worth a test for owners of some newer HVR Hauppauge cards capturing via svideo or composite http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/forum/showthr...r-than-4-3 The cards identified were:

HardPVR Products (e.g. HVR-16xx, HVR17xx, HVR-18xx, HVR-19xx, HVR22xxx)
SoftPVR Products (e.g. HVR8xxx, HVR-9xx, HVR-11xx, HVR-12xx, HVR14xx, HVR-3xxx, HVR-4xxx, HVR-5xxx, WinTV-USB-Live2, WinTV Impact VCB-PCIe)

Only audio/ no video and program freezes when I go into the decoder settings tab.
Posted by: JQ112 - 2011-09-05, 01:58 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (13)

Hello,

When I start up NPVR everything works fine, my tv tuner picks up channels and the EPG works,
however, when I select live tv only the audio plays. I decided that the decoder was not working correctly so I went into settings and selected
the "decoder" tab, this however, causes NPVR to freeze and I can't even end the process, I have to log out.

Any help will be appreciated

Thanks, JQ112

How-to specify numbers of days for SchedulesDirect
Posted by: stf69 - 2011-09-05, 12:25 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

I updated from gbpvr to NextPvr.

Great job !

One question, I cannot find the way to specify the numbers of days of EPG to download from SchedulesDirect.
It is look to take 7 days, but with gbpvr it is possible to have 14 days.

Thanks for help

target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:8968 error
Posted by: Lucca - 2011-09-04, 09:56 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (19)

Hi

I've recently upgraded from GB PVR. I cannot view live tv. I searched around to solve this problem to no avail. Log below

I've tried the following:
-disabled Windows Firewall and Norton and made exceptions for both exe services and both tcp ports 8866 and 8968
-ensured that the only entry in hosts file was 127.0.0.1
-upgraded Direct X 9
-rebooted

Any help much appreciated.

  Client / server or not?
Posted by: liteswap - 2011-09-04, 09:14 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

I'm pondering whether to go client / server. Right now, the sole client in the household, the living room PVR, does it all. I run a backup routine every night after the EPG update to back up the video directory to the server in the basement. I'm wondering whether to:
1. Record / playback directly from the server to save backing it up (and because the PVR OS disk is an SSD and the video recordings disk is not, it could run silently)
2. Set up a virtual server on the server hardware to run nPVR as a server, which would enable the possibility of installing other clients. The server runs 24/7 anyway so there would be no sleep etc issues there. Would this gain me anything else over option 1?
3. Leave things as they are because it works

Thoughts?

  ATSC virtual channel improvements
Posted by: mvallevand - 2011-09-04, 06:28 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

I would like the npvr.db3 field be expanded to allow decimal format, (there is a int parse error now) and then default ATSC scans could use the virtual channel just like TV sets do. Also the virtual channels shown in the type field don't even shown on the setting screen and since the psip based text don't always match the EPG text (ie OMNI1 is CFMT OMNI2 is CJMT) it makes it harder to map than necessary.

New User - feedback questions for recording
Posted by: TVHelp - 2011-09-04, 06:18 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (26)

I just installed the software and am trying to get use to it. I find that I am puzzled by why the name 'DEFAULT' can not be changed when setting a manual recording. Wouldn't it be easy enough to let us key in the name for our recording? Why should I be dependent on a program guide and the various utilities required just to get this setup for some reasonable accuracy. I am fine with being fully responsible for knowing what is on and what I want to record and I want to be able to set it up quickly!

In addition, why not make the channel selection in the recording setup a drop-down box? Hitting an arrow a thousand times to get where you want to be is annoying!!

Don't fall into the Microsoft trap - making it pretty but not making it work! Functionality and ease of use should always come first.

Next, it would be nice to have a start and end DATE for recurring program recordings.

I am sure if I ever get this fully setup and running I will have more input - but wanted to get this out there just in case someone knows a way to set the name for a recording without using the complex utilities setup.

In trying to figure things out I discovered I had a ton of recordings - that I had not planned on. Not sure how they got in the mix. But I would like some clarification on how/where the recordings are stored. It looked like channel folders, or manual folder was created, but in one case I got a 'no show details' folder. Where did that come from? Under what circumstance do I get the channel folder (is that for the repeated recordings?)? I think it would have made more sense to me if all the files had not been called DEFAULTSad

Ok, I know that was a lot. I hope someone can sift through this and provide insight.

Thank you for having this option for me! I just found a defect, I consider critical, in Media Centre and that is why I searched and found this option - I really hope it works out and I can get it all set before the new seasons start!!!!
