  2.2.6 still missing channels...
Posted by: dumbledore - 2011-09-04, 05:41 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

so i upgraded to 2.2.6 hoping that it would find some channels i noticed i could tune to on my tv through clear qam, but don't show in npvr - the new version brings the scanning back to the level that gb-pvr could do, but it's still missing (at least) one channel in the scan. is there anything i can do to help it find it? couldn't figure out how to find the broadcast freq from my tv...

Walkthroughs for US / Canada users
Posted by: McBainUK - 2011-09-04, 04:15 PM - Forum: NPVR Documentation - Replies (34)

Being the other side of the pond it's hard for the regular wiki authors to write one or even know what's a common setup (capture card, TV source, EPG source etc).

If you can answer the questions above and/or or interested in helping out with a walkthrough for typical US or Canadian NextPVR setups then please post below (or PM me if you're shy Smile )

NPVR playback of recordings over MVP severely pixelated
Posted by: dongna - 2011-09-04, 04:14 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (12)

I had been a user of GB-PVR with MVP for several years. The PC on which I was running this died, and I replaced it with a new one running Windows 7 64 bit. I decided to to take this opportunity to "upgrade" to NPVR, and over the course of a week or so appear to have gotten everything set up and running.

However I have (hopefully only) one remaining problem. When I record a show and play it back over the MVP, the playback is severely pixelated and audio is unintelligible. Playback on the PC screen is fine.

Hardware is Hauppauge HVR-2250, signal source is analog cable.

I'm not sure where to look to address this problem. Could someone perhaps point me in the correct direction?

  Refresh Rate
Posted by: imilne - 2011-09-04, 08:20 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (3)

Hi sub,

A (hopefully) small request: with the changes you made to support refresh rates with this patch (http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post418508), would it be possible to open it up to the API, so we could request NPVR to change the refresh rate, eg something like:

Code:
PluginHelperFactory.GetPluginHelper().SetRefreshRate(int);

It's not essential, and could be done separately, but I get the feeling it may be better if NPVR is actually aware of the event, rather than the refresh rate being changed on the sly behind its back. My plan is to make refresh rate change requests just before video playback starts (and again when it ends).

Thanks

Iain

UltraXMLTV 2.1 - Movie ratings not being added description
Posted by: BrettB - 2011-09-04, 08:08 AM - Forum: ZTools and UltraXMLTV - Replies (11)

I've got UltraXMLTV_Enhancer version 2.1.4022.22256.

I think that I have it configured properly to include the movie rating in the Description field (see image), but it doesn't seem to be doing that.

  Frustrated New User
Posted by: ElKevbo - 2011-09-03, 11:44 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (24)

I'm a frustrated new user and I don't know where to turn for help. Maybe I'm not in your target audience because all of your documentation (wiki, "Getting started" message pinned to the top of this forum, etc.) is very unhelpful as it seems to assume *way* more technical knowledge than it is reasonable to expect of most people.

I have an HD HomeRun Dual connected to Charter cable. I know the device works because Windows Media Center sees it and shows live video with no problems. I think I finally got NPVR to recognize the device. But it seems that all of the channels it picked up when I scanned for them are encrypted. Obviously that isn't true because I can view them using other software. And I have no idea how to subscribe to a channel guide as your instructions in the wiki and in the "Getting started" thread are incomprehensible. I thought that "Update EPG" would find subscription information but it seems to have taken forever to do...nothing as far as I can tell.

I don't expect sympathy and I don't expect help. I just thought it might be useful for you to have some feedback from a novice user who spent several hours trying to make things work but eventually gave up.

DCR-2650 not in devices- fresh install
Posted by: soccerdad - 2011-09-03, 07:42 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (16)

sub
I just put together a brand new PC that I will use for my testing. Everything is installed, and the DCR works in WMC. I installed the Hauppauge driver from their website. The device does not show up in config, but the logs look like the program found it. I wonder if the Hauppauge site is not installing everything we need. There are no other tuners installed.

  can't detect Hauppauge WinTV-USB Live 2
Posted by: bumper2007 - 2011-09-03, 07:10 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (11)

Does NPVR support Hauppauge WinTV-USB Live 2 device?
I have installed and see it working in TotalMedia Extreme 2, but can't see in NPVR Device setting.

On the same machine, I have also installed 2 Hauppauge HDPVR, they are working fine with NPVR. So now I just need to make it work either with USB Live2.

Please advise.

thanks.

Skip / fast forward not working - random intervals and direction
Posted by: aseibert - 2011-09-03, 04:13 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (181)

When playing back a recording, the skip and fast forward functions are not working correctly. I have them set to the default intervals. If I skip forward (or back) it jumps at seemingly random intervals. It will even go in the wrong direction. I've tried to discern a pattern but I can't find one. It never seems to do the same thing twice. I've had to resort to using a mouse to select a spot on the timeline.

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and NextPVR 2.2.6. My hardware is a Gigabyte 880GA-UD3H motherboard/AMD Athlon II X3 450 Rana 3.2GHz triple-core processor with onboard ATI HD4250 video and a Hauppauge Colossus capture card. I have all the latest drivers. The TV is a 46" Samsung UN46D6000SF 1080p 120Hz LED LCD using an HDMI input.
