I use a Hauppauge TD500 twin tuner card for viewing Freeview HD in NZ.

One thing ive noticed once moving to using NPVR (from GBPVR) - is that the HD recordings always seem to play in the wrong aspect - i always have the picture set to auto - but it doesnt seem to pick up the right aspect. yet if i cycle through the modes back to auto - it goes back to the right aspect again. if i then choose another HD recording its back to scratch and have to cycle through the modes again.

The recordings i have off the NOVA-S and HVR4000 DVB-S tuners are fine - they always seem to pick up the right aspect.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

Is this a function of the decoder? HD is using Cyberlink H264/AVC decoder and MPEG2 is using Cyberlink PDVD10 decoder.

Anybody seen this. Clean install windows 7(32B). GBPVR scans channels ok but live tv flashes audio (no video and comes up with "No signal" Hauppauge 4000 cards set to DVB-T. Strangely program records ok but showing "No signal on live view.

Cards work on NPVR fine (good antenna and signal strength so cards installed ok)

Does anyone know of or use a codec selection tool with Windows 7?

I have a few videos on my library (not recorded with GB-PVR) that won't play, and last time I messed around installing new codecs, those trampled on the working ones and I spend a week in pure codec hell.

I used a tool in Win XP that would let me adjust the merit, but with MS providing their own decoders (which mostly work okay), I need something in Win 7 to help me.

I wish there were something that'd just let me pick e.g. I want to do <filter name here> for AC3 and so on.

I having some issues with recording/playback. I have had good success with recordings and play back when I do a quick record when on the computer, but if I schedule a recording sometimes they playback choppy or unusable about 50% of the time. .ts files seem to be missing half the data.

Signal strength and quality of the signal is fine.


The sleep settings on the computer are not set, it is always on. I also tried dropping in another hard drive.

I am running XP Pro SP3, AMD 3400, 1 gig of server ram. Tuner is HD HomeRun.

I have tried different firmware versions as well with the turner.

Any help would be appreciated!

I have a dedicated windows xp machine running GBPVR. As it has no keyboard or mouse (it's just connected to the TV and the network) if I need to change any settings in GBPVR I use remote desktop to log into the machine and then, because RD leaves the pc on the login screen when one logs off, I have to trigger a reboot in order to get the machine to auto-login and start GBPVR.

Also, using remote desktop is useless for trouble shooting because it doesn't support VRM9.

Is there a more convenient way of configuring GBPVR from another machine on a network?

Hi folks,

I've been using GB/NPVR as stand alone units for a long time now and am looking for input for what folks have been doing with client server. I'm interested in reliability of the setup, mostly.

I have two Time Warner STBs so I'm limited by those for HD. With a growing family (and TVs) I'm thinking of moving those STBs, along with their HD-PVRs to a central NPVR "server".

Some thoughts, for me, and questions:

- computers aren't an issue. The kids computers can easily be used as clients, plenty of horsepower; I already have decent computers in exiting NPVR locations. As such, I'm not interested in devices like Popcorn Hour, or other media jukeboxes.

- doing this allows a limited resource, namely rented STB signals, to be used in multiple locations - that's one of the driving factors.

- how does a streaming server/client LiveTV/Recording's quality compare to the STB/HD-PVR being directly connected to the host TV?

- How reliable is it? I've seen some NPVR threads discussing client/server issues, have these been addressed?

I have just attempted to install nextpvr on windows 7 - when i run it and follow the instructions to go to the device setting tab the list of devices is empty and since i am not clear what exactly devices refers to i am unsure of what to do next

i have no tv reception on my pc (no point because of signal problems which is why i am interested in nextpvr) and am looking for a way to access and record web tv streams - have i got the right software for this ?

any help much appreciated - i'm not tech expert but i can usually follow instructions etc

its a long time since I have been on here, but I need some help getting my old hauppauge PVR 350 working with nPVR

I am running on windows XP and live tv displays a picture ok but I get no audio, but if I play back music, that plays correctly

I can also happily play old mpg recording I made with gbpvr without problems

I have tried selecting various audio decoders in both mpeg1 audio decoder and ac3 decoder but still hear nothing

on my system I feed the svideo input on the pvr350 from a settop box and change channels using its remote

I also know the pvr350 is receiving audio as I recorded using gbpvr earlier which had audio but the recordings stop after about a minute for some reason, which is why I troed to upgrade to npvr

how do I set the channels picked up from xmltv file to use the composite input rather than the tuner

this forum has always been helpful in the past so here's hoping someone can help me out again

I'm thinking of building a home DVR.

I have Verizon FiOS. I have one set top box.

I was wondering, is it possible to watch live TV while recording something at the same time?

Next PVR is good but i am still using GBPVR as it has the add on features I like at the moment.

I have had to re image my computer - last done before upgrade to the last version of PVRX2. Where can i find that last version to download?
