after several years using gbpvr with the latest version 1.1.5 that works with a Hauppauge PVR-350 as a hardware decoder device for displaying the recorded videos on a tv, I want to update my system.
I liked the fact very much, that the PVR-350 does not use the cpu very much so the system did not consume very much power and did not produce much noise.
Therefore I am looking for a graphic card which does all the decoding work, so that cpu is almost not involved in the decoding and displaying process.
Could someboy recommend me a graphic card that complies with these wishes? It should not have a fan and I rather like NVIDIA then ATI. It does not have to fit to a specific motherboard, because I would setup a complete new system.
I would like to use the system with four USB-tuner (e.g. Hauppauge HVR 930-C) and three streaming clients like the Hauppauge MVP and the popcorn-hour A-110. What tiype of Intel-CPU would be preferable or which speed should it have?
I am seeing occasional issues where my system fails to resume from hibernate. I will work out why one day but in the meantime I have found a useful hotfix that provides some additional robustness. I thought other NPVR users might like it too.
When the system fails to resume from hibernate Windows will wait for manual intervention asking whether you would like to retry or delete the hibernate file and restart. The system will not start recording again until you manually select one of these options to restart the system. There is no timeout.
This generally means I lose recordings for a day or two. If we are on holiday it could mean losing a couple of weeks.
Hotfix 2519400 adds a timer to the window resume loader that will force the system to restart rather than wait for manual intervention.
I am trying to set up NPVR Multidec in NZ with a Infinity USB Phoenix/NewCS/Acamd combination. Has anyone got this going? I need help with config files.
The main problem: Apparently, the diseqc switching to low band doesn't work. I only get transponders above the LOF switch frequency with nPVR. Switching between positions (A/B) works. On GBPVR (same machine, same tuner) everything including low band works.
I also have some problems with scanning crashes as reported by others. I have excluded the transponders from scanning.
I don't know if this is the right spot to introduce this but ....
I have made an advanced /multisite/incremental EPG grabber which is available for some time and in use by a growing number of users.
Some background:
* I live in a rural area on the Canary Islands where the internet connections are just dialup speed (no ADSL or 3G). On occasion I can use a satellite downlink . Lets say the speed varies between 2-50kB/s.
* Under these conditions I have been using several epg grabbers, but it always took 'hours' to just the daily update.
* The above was the reason I decided to make my own epg grabber which limits downloading to an absolute minimum without loosing richness of data. With it, the daily download for 25 channels in full detail takes about 10 minutes (sat downlink) to 1 hour (in dial-up)
Some features:
* Incremental grabbing. It only grabs what is new or what needs updated because it is changed or missing.
* Can grab from multiple tvguide sites in one run. Each site is programmable through a SiteIni file (As of now there are about 50 of them available for nearly all European countries and a few beyond that). These siteinifiles can be made by the user with the help of debugging modes and the documentation. Of course I am prepared to help or make one if requested. Look here for a complete list of supported tvguide sites.
* The output follows the xmltv standard.
* Most xmltv elements are supported, like start and stop times, title (+ original title), sub-title, category, rating, star-rating, credits (director, actor, presenter, writer, composer, producer), (production)date, episode, subtitles, premiere, previously-shown, video aspect and video quality. All of which are just a choice of the user and programmable per channel.
* All kinds of other options, like, days to grab, one-show-update-only and site-index-page-only (less detail but super fast) and xmltv-element-value filtering and modification.
* Written in C# , executable less that 1MB. Tested for XP, Vista and W7. It runs in command mode, no GUI , no drivers to install. FreeWare, Absolutely non commercial, guaranteed free of malware or virus .
I'm not sure if this is a developer question or a wishlist one, but I'll put it here anyway.
NPVR currently has the HORIZONTAL_ICON view for a list - which is really nice btw. Much prettier than its counterpart in GBPVR, and looks great when you've got a screen view of movie posters or something.
It scrolls offscreen from left-to-right though, perhaps in keeping with the "horizontal" thing that NPVR has going on in its main menu and so on. I'd also like to see a version of it where it could be made to scroll offscreen from top-to-bottom. I don't know if it should be a new type of list view (eg VERTICAL_ICON), or whether you could just throw in a single config.xml entry that would allow the user to specify horizontal or vertical for when a list is in this mode.
The first picture shows the current view, and the order it fills its elements with. The second picture shows how a vertical version of it should work.
I just wanted to thank the developers of this wonderful program, NextPVR. I just found you yesterday.
I have been using tv tuners on my computers since about 2002. I just recently got a 10.5" baby Eee PC 1015PN-PU17-BK Netbook - Intel Dual-Core Atom N550 1.5GHz. It came with Windows 7 starter so I was forced to use the Arcsoft 3.5 program since it didn't come with WMC. I live I within short range of the big city signals, but all the OTA stations sputtered and spurred in Arcsoft. (The exact same tv tuner stick and antenna works great on my newish win 7 desktop with WMC)
Anyway, I switched my baby netbook to your program, and then all the HD channels now play smoothly without the sputters and spurs.
I'm not sure what's the difference, but thank you so much.
I have only recently re installed NPVR on my system which I have now upgraded to Windows 7 64 bit. I have a quad core i3 processor and am using the Intel HD graphics. Everything works fine except that it does not seem to matter what renderer I choose or what codecs, I get perfect sound but no vision in Live TV mode. If I record a program - there is no video when played back on NPVR but perfect performance when played back through VLC.
