NPVR not starting recurring records, but works for one shot ones.
Posted by: colas - 2011-05-28, 05:15 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

Hi,
Does somebody has hints on what may be happening?

Manual recording a show works, but if I make it recurring (by clicking on Mon-Fri for instance), the show is properly listed as recurring, but the recording never starts.
This from the desktop or Web UI,
With checking on or off the "use background recording service" option.
Recording one show works from the EPG, but not if I make it recur.

I am on Windows XP, using 2.0.3 NPVR.
Same behavior after installing the first zip of patches.

I was using GBPVR without problems before.

I cannot see any error.

Edit: Well, after de-installing, re-installing dependencies (Direct X, etc), re-installing NPVR and patches. Using background recording service, it now seem to work OK. Problem solved for me then... but I do not know why...

Pinky and Perky Sound on BBC HD
Posted by: Wonderbadger - 2011-05-28, 04:51 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

Hi,
I've recently started using NPVR and think its the best PC based PVR I've used so far, nice and responsive and hasn't missed any recordings apart from when I have done something stupid Big Grin

I do have an issue with recordings from the BBC HD channel, on some programs when it gets to the boundary between the programs (ie it just finished telling you what you're supposed to be watching tomorrow night then starts the main program) the audio gets corrupted and starts sounding like pinky and perky. Sometimes stopping the recording or live TV stream and going back in will make it work but other times I cannot watch the reording at all. The other 3 HD channels are working perfectly, I assume it must be some kind of codec problem so if anyone knows a fix that would be helpful - I also get a much lower audio level produced from the BBC HD channel compared to BBC1 HD etc so assume it must be using a different codec somewhere.

The system I am using is an Acer Revo with Windows 7 64bit and a PCTV 290e stick on the HD side with two other Hauppauge tuners for SD.

Any ideas would be appreciated

Thanks
Andy

  XP & psisdecd.dll
Posted by: steeb - 2011-05-28, 01:09 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

Dear all,

so I got to thinking about this. From the Jaggy/peanut thread and BrainStormer's link to the very nice peeps @ MP that have a solution.

With my very new and as yet untried and untested VB .Net coding skills (for skills read  )

I thought a possible solution would be to have a 'checker' prog on startup (or by schedule) to check that the correct psisdecd.dll was installed.

Really it depends if anyone is still using XP. Though I think a lot of users are? (myself included)

If any interest it could be on wiki as part of XP install options (utilities)

I say utilities but I was surprised to see that the logical place for me to put this within NextPVR data directory would have been in a utilities one, but that does not seem to exist?

My thoughts are:

dump an .exe in utilities that checks for the correct psisdecd.dll if it is the one 'that works' do nothing. If it is not. Bring up window prompting user to read the MP thread etc.

Turn it on, shortcut to the .exe in startup or as a schedule. Turn it off, well don't do anything?

Very interested to hear all views and I won't rant Big Grin

cheers

steeb

Any swedish users? Plus dvb-s recommendations?
Posted by: stefan - 2011-05-27, 08:58 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (5)

Hey,

I'm thinking about switching to satellite from terrestrial (in sweden). I heard that viasat locks their cards to a certain machine with some kind of pairing.

So I suppose canaldigital is the only option for me to go with, then?

Or does anyone have any other information? =)

Any recommendation for what dvb-s cards to get nowadays? I'd like something so I can record at least two things simultaneously, and I need something with a card reader. Or do I get the card reader separately? Feeling like a noob Smile

  Hotkey while music is playing.
Posted by: mvallevand - 2011-05-27, 03:14 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (1)

I don't know if it is a bug or by design, but currently while music is playing hot keys don't work. It would be nice if they continued to work. I can live without a livetv hotkey if that is the concern.

Selecting between pvrx2 and nextpvr MVP/NMT servers is it possible?
Posted by: bgowland - 2011-05-27, 02:35 AM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (2)

I know it's not possible to run an instance of a pvrx2 MVP/NMT server at the same time as a NextPVR one when using an MVP but is it possible using some jiggery-pokery with a PCH? I'm talking single physical server here.

The only reason I ask is that I see that start-up scripts for mvpmcx2 can be tweaked in a number of ways and the PCH itself has various options for shares etc (still trying to get my head around it).

Is it possible or do the MVP/NMT servers for both gbpvr and npvr effectively 'look' identical making it impossible to select between them?

Cheers,
Brian

More Frequent Failed recordings + 1 other issue of no devices
Posted by: ydekmekji - 2011-05-26, 12:46 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

i'm seeing an increase in the number of failed recordings. See on the log that it failed to lock in a signal for Jake and the Neverland Pirates. (for the kids, ahem)

The last four have failed to record, but I can watch that channel live no problem. On another note, with these same logs, I exited then reentered the application only to see that all of my devices are no longer listed. I check under status and no devices. I try watching live TV and it says fails to communicate... what's going on?

xmltv/epg - npvr doesn't load all listings/channels (but gbpvr does)
Posted by: Sykor - 2011-05-25, 07:25 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

I've been using GBPVR alongside NPVR. I'm still on analog land and the xmltv file used as EPG source is the same for both programs.

GBPVR loads all available listings correctly, but NPVR only loads for about 15 channels, the others are empty.

I've checked a couple of the missing ones, and they seem to be correctly configured in Settings->Channels.

I forced an update from within NPVR (through System plugin) at 14:30 today, give or take. It ran until about 19:00, and got the same results.

I've attached all recently changed logs, and my source xmltv file.

EDIT: my search skills failed me on this one. No endtimes problem, sub? But if so, why would some get imported and others don't?

  Comcast STB changes
Posted by: SickBoy - 2011-05-25, 01:55 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (7)

Has anyone else gotten the new Program Guide upgrade on their Comcast STB? I have a Scientific Atlanta 4250 STB that was recently upgraded to their new program guide (embedded software) and it broke firewire channel changing via the timmoore firestb package.

Kind of a PITA, I would prefer to not have to set up a blaster to change channels.

New Zealand trucker 'blown up like balloon' by air hose

A New Zealand truck driver who fell on a compressed air hose that pierced his buttock has survived being blown up like a balloon.

Steven McCormack had fallen between the cab and the trailer of his truck, breaking the air hose.
The nozzle pierced his buttock and began pumping air into his body, which expanded dramatically.

"fell" onto the air hose......right.....
