  no live tv
Posted by: lexip - 2011-04-02, 07:17 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (13)

Hi installed NPVR yesterday and having a weird problem.

I'm using a generic usb digital tv dongle which works fine with microsofts media centre, mediaportal & totalmedia.

When using NPVR it does everything - epg, recording etc.

Recorded programs record all the way to the end and play back fine.

But it won't display live TV.

I've checked the temp folder where the live TV is stored and it creates the file, but stops after approx 6000kb.

The 6000kb file will play.

It's like it starts to store a buffer for playback but when it gets to the point of actually playing the live TV it aborts the live recording.

Anyone got any ideas?

  TVListings 3.4 slow loading
Posted by: roy - 2011-04-02, 02:00 PM - Forum: TV Listings - Replies (2)

Loading of TVListings has been getting slower for me, now takes about 15 seconds for listings to appear. Could be due to the size of my tvlistings.db3 which has grown to >100 MB, due to more than 3 million entries under category_mapping.

Should this be the case or can these be purged to reduce the size?

TV guide option to use VLC for playback and recording.
Posted by: robert2011 - 2011-04-01, 07:05 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (3)

I'm using an EEE 701 as my media center pc (don't laugh) and gb-pvr does everything but it can't record or play HD tv channels from my DVB tuner without freezing and stuttering. VLC can. Ideally, I would like to add buttons to the tv guide pop up menu to watch and/or record using VLC, but I think the TV guides section is closed source so I can't do it myself. Is that correct? I don't think this would be difficult to implement. There are plenty of examples for how to command VLC to do these tasks, so it would just be a matter of extracting the information from the gb-pvr database and passing it on to VLC. This would be advantageous for all users of gb-pvr because using VLC would mean that no codecs would need to be installed and configured.

  HD Homerun
Posted by: togo - 2011-04-01, 06:48 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

Guys, please forgive the raw newb question, but I just installed NPVR v2.0.3 and am trying to use it with my HD Homerun tuner. The instructions say "visit the devices tab", but nothing is shown there (not even an ethernet listener that could be manually configured with the HDHR IP address). The forums talk about an HDHR plugin and problems with current silicondust drivers, but the NPVR plugins page has 11 plugins listed (from Programs to WebRadio) not including anything that looks related to HDHR.

FAQ and Hardware/Tuner pages are still under construction, and the Settings/Plugins checkbox page doesn't have HDHR, so I'm lost.

How do you use HDHR with NPVR?

Has anyone fixed the "slow remote" issue?
Posted by: wodger - 2011-04-01, 08:38 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (105)

I see a few posts on here about the hauppauge remote going slow.

I appreciate sub says it's nothing to do with nPVR.

On my new system, remote control commands sent with the keyboard are like lightening, and the remote was the same previously with gbpvr on XP.

Now with W7 and nPVR I'm seeing a full one second or so delay between remote control button presses. Very noticable when scrolling around the monus and recordings.

Google helped me find a few people with other pvr apps who had success by moving cables around in the PC case, but it didn't change anything for me ... has anyone actually managed to fix this?

Cheers

  Channel Order
Posted by: zvm - 2011-04-01, 08:26 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

Hi,

Is it possible to change channel order? It was with GBPVR. Order is determined during scan and that's it!? I don't want to do manual scan channel per channel. Moreover, that would not help completely since more digital channels are on one frequency.
I searched forum but I could not find anything about this.

To make it more clear, I mean on this situation: channel scan found some channels in order like this:
1. H1
2. R
3. H2
4. N

I want order like this in TV Guide and Live TV:
1. H1
2. H2
3. R
4. N

Of course, in real situation there are more channels, thus greater need for manual sort. Smile

Thank you!

  nDroid v1.3.x (Beta) support thread
Posted by: bgowland - 2011-04-01, 04:11 AM - Forum: Add-ons (3rd party plugins, utilities and skins) - Replies (51)

I've uploaded v1.3 of the nDroid client and nDroidService components to the nDroid wiki page

I'll try and detail changes later when I can remember them but they include...

  • Installer for the nDroidService (please see post #2 for uninstalling previous version)
  • Primitive 'Now Showing' page (all shows, current time-slot) - NOTE, attempting to set recordings from this will fail.
  • Early start to 'Status' page - general info, currently limited to software versions and last download dates
  • Re-sizing of buttons on dialogs to make them easier to use (much more work needed for the UI elements)
  • Loads of low-level stuff I can't remember
  • Added a touch of colour Big Grin

  Wow Cable
Posted by: mvallevand - 2011-04-01, 03:48 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (4)

I read a positive post (via the SageTV forums) showing some potential benefits for American NPVR users who subscribe to Wow as their cable provider. It seems their basic tier is going to clear QAM http://www.thewowbuzz.com/blog/technolog...-revisited good news in itself but as a bonuse from the sample there seems to be a lot of multi-rec functionality.

As a Canadian with no clear QAM of note I am jealous.

  HVR 2250 Tuner Selection Problem
Posted by: bigbus01 - 2011-03-31, 09:24 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (35)

I'm having trouble getting NPVR to set my analog capture source to SVideo. Everytime I set it, it goes back to tuner. Has anyone seen this issue?
