I am just moving to NPVR, and working to set up my IR Blaster (need it to talk to comcast box).

GBPVR has an included .exe; NPVR does not seem to.

I have WinTV installed, but the HCW.exe in that dir doesn't seem to work, and the IR.exe isn't the right thing to use. the NPVR config still requires me to pick an external exe it seems.

I don't have anything on c: that has "blast" in the name other than the GBPVR blast .exe that was used previously.

I checked the setup posts etc but didn't see anything. What am I missing? If the winTV executables are what I need to use I'll play with that more, but I sure want to troubleshoot the right one : )

I am finally getting around to building a new back-end server dedicated to a NextPVR set-up.

Due to money limitations (as always!) and what I can get my hands on I am customising this around an old Dell 1600SC server. Any budget I do have I would prefer to pump into new DVB cards (and another donation to Sub ).

I've chucked in 2 x 3.2 (HT) Xeons and have 3GB RAM installed. Though I have read that some appear to have had issues running XP with NextPVR I haven't noticed any issues while testing NextPVR on my current GB-PVR server and given that microsoft now look to be supporting XP until 2014 I would prefer to stick with XP rather than fork out for Windows7 (once again preference in spending on new DVB cards).

I would hope that this system is as 'future proofed' as possible until the end of the life of XP and could handle the advent of more HD channels etc.

Question 1: Any of you good people see any reason as to why I may have problems with this set-up?
Question 2: Given that the 1600SC is a server by design the onboard/integrated graphics leave much to be desired and have a wopping 8MB of memory I stress this would be a back-end only server and not used to watch TV/Recordings etc directly. Any issues I am not aware of if I run with the very limited integrated graphics? A test install of an XP system shows that the integrated GPU supports DirectX. I could of course install a separate graphics card but this would eat up a nice PCI slot waiting for a new DVB device

I'm using NPVR and have 2 HVR-1600 cards. One is QAM and one is ATSC. I am using Schedules Direct and choosing the same channel for the TV guide information for the same QAM and ATSC channel. When I update the TV guide, the QAM time/content is correct but the ATSC channels are offset by 4 hours. I am near Washington DC and my time zone is (UTC-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada).

Any ideas how an offset can be put on the two channels?

Hi guys, I have come accross NVPR and wanted to give it a go. I have a Gigabyte P6000 TV tuner card but when I run NVPR it shows nothing under Settings -> Devices. Does it support only some special cards or is good for general use? More precisely, is there a way to use NVPR with my Gigabyte card?

When i tried to test my previous problem (where two simultaneos recordings crashed npvr recording service) I deiscovered another problem.

I started a second recording with one already running as a scheduled recording. I opened the status window open on the nPVR recording server via RDP and started the second recording via TV guide in web GUI. The recording started fine BUT when I cancelled the recording (also from TV Guide in web GUI) something failed, the status window showed the recording stopping on Device 2 but the status window hung and when I tried to close it I got an error message sayng nPVRtray had crashed.

The other recording looked like it was running fine but when I restarted the nPVRtray and tried to right-click on it no menu appeared. So I closed recording service and rar:ed up my logs and added a crash.mdmp that had appeared in my c:\temp directory. Not sure you need the latter but it's there anyway.

Looking at a replacement for my Dell GX280 as it has been just stopping recently. After a bit of work on it, I suspect faulty mobo/capacitors (some are swollen which weren't previously).

I'm looking at this PC on trademe, as it's available locally (I could get it tonight) and want to put my "no TV" and declining WAF problems to rest! Wondering if anyone had any comments on the config (below).

The only thing I use it for is NZ Freeview over DVB-S, including the multi-record feature and it'd be a npvr server eventually as well. I might want to use it as a DVD player also in the future, but no plans to do this currently.

I would probably use my own graphics card and on sell the graphics card it comes with...

It could be mine for $305, I just don't want to get lumped with a dog because I don't have alot of experience with picking hardware. Appreciate any thoughts.

I like the TV Magazine feature of the old ATI cards. Are there any other software alternatives out there so I do not need to use ATI Media Center?

I've been using YAMMM to download dvd covers for my movies and have found that in some instances if the wrong movie is selected and the cover downloaded, if I update it manually by replacing the folder.jpg inside the directory then NPVR doesn't reflect this change. The old cover is still shown. If I drill inside the directory then the AVI file has the correct image shown.

Windows shows the right thumbnails and if I open the folder.jpg file manually I can see it is the right image. I've tried deleted the thumbs.db file but this doesn't help.
I've tried restarting the services but this hasn't fixed it either.

Is there anything specific I need to do to force NPVR to update?

I was on the Hauppauge's UK forum and I happened to read about their command line utility ts2ps. In some limited testing over the last week, I have found it is probably the best mpeg-ps remuxer I have tried, it converted several difficult ts streams I have that wouldn't sync or crashed ffmpeg.

Best of all it is free to try for Hauppauge WinTV 7 users. The .exe is installed in the WinTV folder and worth adding to your bag of tricks.

The recent PlayOn update added support for NCAA March Madness free even here in Canada. I thought some of you might be interested in seeing how the quality of online streaming (the middle one with the http title) vs analog (9Mbs) and HDPVR captures look.
