  TS file timing info
Posted by: Nistrod - 2011-03-05, 02:26 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (11)

Most (all?) of my TS files recorded with NPVR have a problem when played in VLC. Basically, the timing info is missing. VLC shows the current position/total length as 00:00/00:00. It is also unable to skip very well (i.e. not at all).

NPVR deals with it perfectly. I also have problems if I try and play them on a WD TV Live.

If the broadcast stream is not including valid timing information - which I can only assume, as NPVR just dumps this to the file - is there some form of postprocessing I can do to fix this?

  2.0.3 Multiple recordings
Posted by: Nistrod - 2011-03-05, 02:09 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (9)

Since upgrading to 2.0.3 I am sometimes getting multiple recordings of the same show.
I have attached my logs, but an example is New Tricks_20110304_20332127. This appeared as two files: New Tricks_20110304_20332127.ts, 2GB, which explorer says is 00:00:00 long, and New Tricks_20110304_20332127-0.ts, 454MB, 00:12:06 long.

I have a postprocessing.bat file, which only appears to have run on the -0 file. Only a single recording appears in the Recordings list. If I play this recording, it only plays the short -0 file.

Its not happening on all recordings, but might (only might) be related to multiple recordings happening simultaneously.

Padding not honored with multiple analog tuners
Posted by: roy - 2011-03-05, 12:25 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

I have multiple analog tuners, but consecutive analog recordings always use the first analog tuner, so there is no padding honored. Will the logic to 'prefer alternating analog capture source' be provided in nPVR?

Digital recordings do honor padding and use alternate tuner if available.

  Toggle off menu-bar.
Posted by: JP23 - 2011-03-04, 09:02 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (4)

Hi,

While watching a recording, Ctrl-B shows the timeline and show information.
It would be nice if a second press would toggle it off again.

  Crashes watching HD content.
Posted by: JP23 - 2011-03-04, 05:43 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

Hi,

I'm getting a lot of crashes with HD content. Usually it occurs when attempting to exit live tv, but occasionally during playback too. The PC locks up completely and has to be powered off.

It seems to happen with any decoder which gives me hardware acceleration, which has been Microsoft, Arcsoft and ATI decoders.

I'm using a Radeon HD 3800 in Win 7 x64.

I've attached my logs, any idea what's going wrong?

- locate Radio.png in Skin
- remote plugin interface (call WebRadio from other plugins)
- QAM video preview scanning
- scan and play digital radio without adding NPVR database
- Alt-B to toggle view (was Ctrl-B)

Searchlite Wishlist - Search by (favorite) channel(s)
Posted by: ralphy - 2011-03-04, 09:22 AM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (8)

Thanks for this plugin Martin - I just loaded it yesterday to check it out and see if would handle a particular style of searching. Alas, it doesn't appear to, but maybe 2.0 will (wishful thinking!)

At present, the better half regularly goes through the EPG TV Guide in nPVR, looking for movies to record from her favorite channels. In the old days when we used paper guides, she'd go through the channel listings containing an alphabetical list of the movie title with descriptions and time, put a ring around the ones to watch.

What I was hoping SearchLite would be able to do is to display a list of shows on a selected (favorites?) channel(s), (ie search for all shows on a given channel, rather than search for a show name) from which one could read the description (as we can now), and chose which epsiode/time to record when there are multiple screenings of the same show. Even better, if the show had already been programed to record, this would be highlighted, so that it won't be scheduled a second time.

Any chance this can be added to the wish list if there is oneWink. I'm willing to offer to help code if it helps

  NPVR Client/Server problem
Posted by: jcjefferies - 2011-03-03, 09:21 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

I have a problem as the client won’t communicate properly with the server even after trying all the suggestions in the forum so have done a clean install of XP and NPVR V2 on both. The server worked first time as usual when used locally after “Importing” recordings. The only none standard thing is the NPVR data directory was moved to “all users\documents” so it is accessible over the network.

The other computer is set as a client to the server. Using the “Open File” menu I can play recordings correctly from the “Recordings Directory” which is a shared directory on the server.

If I select “Live TV”, “Please Wait” is displayed for 1 ½ mins, then for a few seconds displays “Unable to communicate with recording device” then returns to the main menu. The NPVR.log has an error message :- “Unexpected Socket Exception calling startstream()”. I have enclosed the full log message.

If I select “TV Guide” I can view the programme listings. If I select a programme then select “Quick Record” then NPVR locks for about a minute then produces an “Unhandled Exception”. If you select “Continue” the new item appears on the server “TV Guide”. The error message seems to be identical to the one in the “Live TV” log. I don’t seem to be able to cancel recordings.

If I select “Recordings”, then select a programme, then select “Play” NPVR locks for about 30 seconds after which the programme details and time bar appear at the bottom of the screen but nothing else happens. The log displays up to the point where the recording is selected and the options are displayed but logs nothing else. However it is not locked up as “esc” returns to previous menu. There are no errors in the log.

The first server I built did work with the client but tended to crash the client after about an hour but the motherboard failed. The second server was underpowered so was only temporary. It didn’t work with the client at first but after reading through the forum added NRecord.exe to the firewall exception and the client worked but still tended to crash.

Both current computers have NRecord.exe and NextPVR.exe in the firewall exceptions but disabling both firewalls does not seem to help. The “Server Name” and “Database Share” are in the correct format and copied and pasted into “Net use” and “Net view” and worked correctly. I have the same problem with V1.5 and 2.0. The Data Directory is writable over the local network.

Chris
