Unhandled exception when accessing channels tab in settings.
Posted by: JP23 - 2011-02-23, 05:45 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

Hi

I've made a clean install of NPVR on a new Windows 7 installation.
I've applied some of the patches from the tips sticky thread, and run a few channel scans.

Now whenever I go near the channels tab in settings I'm getting the following exception. Any ideas?

Code:

  Strange recording service crash
Posted by: wtg - 2011-02-23, 03:05 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

Reviewing my recordings over the last few days, I noticed that I had a couple recordings fail last night. The system was supposed to record Amadeus from 10:00pm to 1:00am and Thelma and Louise from 1:00am to 3:15. However the Amadeus recording only recorded 84 minutes and the second recording is simply a 0 byte file. There's no error in the logs though... from there it appears everything was fine.

The "details" for the Thelma and Louise recording provides the error "*** Recording service not running at recording time" though in the log it shows it started and stopped the recording on time.

Anyway, maybe you can see something in the logs that's a clue as to what happened. Looking through the Windows event logs I can't see that anything unusual happened until Windows Update kicked in around 3am or so and rebooted the system.

Thanks,
Tim

  VENTING: TWC and QAM
Posted by: ydekmekji - 2011-02-23, 07:46 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (10)

Today, a few of my shows didn't record because TWC rearranged all the QAM codes. NPVR is a great software that will adapt, but I'm human and am frustrated. That's an extra hour of reconfiguration... and, some of my beloved channels got moved to frequencies that don't come in as strong Sad [espn]

Yes, the cable companies exist to make our lives more miserable!

  nDroid v1.0 support thread
Posted by: bgowland - 2011-02-23, 04:08 AM - Forum: Add-ons (3rd party plugins, utilities and skins) - Replies (35)

PLEASE NOTE THE CURRENT VERSION IS v1.2 PLEASE SEE THIS THREAD...
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ort-thread

I've attached the first Beta version of nDroid v1 and would be interested to get some feedback on any aspect (whether it works, how the UI looks/feels etc).

Bear in mind this is only Beta code and fairly limited so I consider it for 'testing' although it is functional. I'd recommend testing locally, i.e., over wi-fi and checking against your N-PVR installation as to how things work.

The post got quite long so I've split the installation instructions to the next post.

Limitations / known issues / other information

  1. IMPORTANT: Currently only working with Android v2.2 and above - please see my post here
  2. Make sure you always have a network connection when you start the nDroid client app - it doesn't like it if you don't (to be fixed ASAP)
  3. Can only set/cancel 'one-off' recordings (recurring etc. coming soon)
  4. Channel logos not yet supported (thanks however to ACTCMS once again for the placeholder Smile )
  5. If the client app is stopped (using Application Manager) and restarted, the label at the top (next to the logo) may default to the first EPG channel but the list will remember the last channel's EPG data viewed (I have a handle on this so it should be fixed soon)
  6. Client ocassionally may be unresponsive when setting/cancelling a recording - if it happens for more than 4-5 seconds and the BACK button fails, use HOME to get out.
  7. Setting a recording doesn't always immediately highlight the guide list entry even if it's successful - use BACK to step out and start the app again to see the highlight.

Source code for older versions ?
Posted by: Spark - 2011-02-23, 01:03 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (1)

Sub, I was curious, if you will ever provide the old source code for GBPVR ? I know you don't support it anymore, and you are now 100% on NPVR, so no updates will be made available.

The reason is mainly educational, since I assume you don't want to release /want help with NPVR ?

How do I get to config menu when NPVR is in Full screen mode
Posted by: fiteclub - 2011-02-23, 01:02 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

OK, I give up; did a forum search with no luck. I checked the box to open NPVR in Full screen mode and now I can't get to the config settings for the life of me. Right clicking anywhere on the NPVR screen does nothing.

Manual recording time precision is too low
Posted by: Spark - 2011-02-23, 12:46 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

When you do manual recordings, it seems you can't go any lower than 10 mins.
I tried, ctrl+arrow, shift+arrorw, and it made no difference, it always advanced by 10 mins.

I thought the old gbpvr allowed you to type a entry in, but that didn't work in npvr.

Is there a logical reason for this ?
Since some shows are 8-9:01, and another show starts at 9-10:01, then I would like to record 8-9:01, and then do 9:01-10:01, but it ends up being 8-9:01, 9:10-10:01 + 9 min pre-padding.

Roku channel for NPVR with Search & Schedule
Posted by: ioan - 2011-02-22, 09:10 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (12)

I developed a Roku channel for NPVR that allows you to watch, search and schedule recordings directly from your Roku. You won't need your NPVR machine next to your TV anymore.

Use this software at your own risk. Read readfirst.txt in the zip file

The source code is included.

To install it, first download on your NPVR machine the server application:
https://sites.google.com/site/ioanghip/r...server.zip

Unzip it somewhere on your disk, and then edit the roku.ini file:

Code:
[locals] local_ip=Auto server_port=8000 npvr_dir=C:\Users\Public\NPVR\ password=__secret__

1. Replace Auto with NPVR's machine IP, example:
Code:
local_ip=192.168.1.55

... or leave it Auto and the application will try to get the IP automatically.

2. Replace 8000 with the port number you would want your server to listen to, or leave it 8000.

3. Replace C:\Users\Public\NPVR\ with the folder where your npvr.db3 file resides.

4. Replace __secret__ with the password you use to get on NPVR's web interface.

5. Save the roku.ini file and start the Roku.exe

6. Edit your PostProcessing.bat file from NPVR's Scripts folder and add this line:
Code:
call "_path_\ConvertVideo.bat" %1
(replace _path_ with the path where you unziped the files)

7. Restart "NPVR Recording Service"

8. Install NPVR Roku channel on your Roku box by following this link:
https://owner.roku.com/add/NextPVR

NextPVR Roku channel will ask you for the server's IP, enter the IP of the machine where you have Roku.exe running and the port you have in roku.ini file, for example:

Code:
192.168.1.55:8000

I will make a video today or tomorrow and I will link it here with instructions.
Let me know if you have any problems.
Enjoy!

PS: Thanks to pvruser for helping me getting started.

  Christchurch earthquake
Posted by: sub - 2011-02-22, 02:06 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (11)

There was a big earth quake here in NZ a couple of hours ago in Christchurch. I've been watching the live unedited footage currently airing on our bigger tv channels. Scary stuff. Flattened buildings, squashed cars, a lot of people covered in blood. There must be alot of people dead.

I watched some very lucky woman being rescued off the roof of a 6 - 8 story building that had pancaked down to the height of a 2 or 3 story building.
