  Disappearing video
Posted by: Greg Browne - 2011-02-25, 03:03 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

Sub or someone,

I have a problem with 1.5.36 which is consistent and repeatable, but for which I have no explanation.

I run NPVR as a window, and (until recently) it worked fine. I didn't notice this until I applied the patches for 1.5.36 the other day, so maybe it is related.

Every time I minimize the window, the picture goes away, and the TV Guide screen is all that is displayed. At that time, nothing will bring the channel back except stopping the entire program and restarting. I have tried doing a "Stop" (from the menu), but even that will not allow the channel picture to return.

And, even though the video stops, the sound continues.

If I try to select the channel - or any other channel - from the TV Guide, there is no response. It just blinks and acts like it can't connect. I did it 3 times this evening just to create the attached logs.

Also, occasionally, simply resizing the window will cause the same behavior - but NOT always.

I don't know what else to do but send you this and see if someone knows what's up.

  Netbook as server
Posted by: pgbpvr - 2011-02-24, 04:14 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (5)

Hi everyone,
I'm thinking of getting a Netbook to serve as my NPVR Server, using a Hauppage WinTV-HVR-1900 analog connection.

It will be behind a sort of closet door, connected by cable to the Airport Extreme, serving a PopcornHour A-110 with a WirelessN dongle.
I intend to use it mainly for recording, not live TV, and then serving the saved content.
It will also have to be my Squeezebox Server and UPNP Server, preferably being able to simultaneously serve 2 video streams (one from NPVR, one from UPNP) and 2 audio streams from Squeezebox.

I intend to make it go to sleep, or hibernate, as soon as it is "idle", (i.e. not serving one of those services), and WakeOnLan as soon as one of the clients needs it.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as I am now beginning the selection and want to set it up in the next month of March.

Thanks
Pedro.

  Video Audio Sync
Posted by: ydekmekji - 2011-02-24, 03:07 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

The majority of my videos are not syncing audio and video very well. Just pressing the rewind button usually takes care of that... usually... the other issue is that on some of the videos (especially noticed it on those where the audio/video are not in sync), when i press rewind or skip back, it moves forward.

I'm using the microsoft decoders and HDHomerun to record in a .ts file

NPVR crashing while watching encrypted channels.
Posted by: JP23 - 2011-02-24, 02:58 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Hi,

I'm using an HVR4400 and multidec. Channels start playing fine, and playback continues for anything from a few seconds to up to about 10 minutes, but invariably NPVR crashes.

This is in Win7 x64.

Any idea what could be going wrong?

Logs and crash dump file attached.

Zero byte files on one channel
Posted by: chuck_2330 - 2011-02-24, 08:14 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

I recently rebuilt my server from scratch and initially I had no problems recording any channel but now for some reason I get zero byte recordings on a channel called GEM.

Looking at the logs I think that the signal strength is OK. Anything else I should look at?

Thanks

Greg

  NEWA playback bug?
Posted by: chuck_2330 - 2011-02-24, 08:11 AM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (3)

Perhaps I have founds another bug in the NEWA interface?

Under GBPVR I could invariably play a recorded file either through the Manage Recordings or the Video Library interface.

With NPVR I find that even though I have a successfully recorded show, occasionally I can't play them in Manage Recordings or Video Library. I can play the file if I connect directly to the network share.

I had a look at the web log (attached) and there seems to be an exception error being thrown. I have no idea why some shows play and others don't.

Any help gratefully appreciated.

Web interface to latest nPVR not working ... :-(
Posted by: softfoot - 2011-02-24, 01:19 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

I have just installed nPVR and after a wee bit of a struggle (my own fault) I have it working and recording :-)

I used to use gbpvr via the web interface but I dont seem to be able to get the same functionality (NEWA??) working under nPVR ... I have the webserver enabled in the settings with the default port (8866) and username and password, but I cannot connect to it :-(

I was under the impression that it was bundled into nPVR

The dreaded windows firewall is disabled - I can ping the machine OK and it can access the network OK

Is there a logfile that would give me a clue??

Any help/advice welcome ...

Dave

Just how do I record with NPVR?
Posted by: dIggl3r - 2011-02-23, 11:18 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (14)

Been using GBPVR for almost 3 years now, had to reinstall Windows this morning... I log and GBPVR is no longer, long live GBPVR I guess... but now I install this new NPVR, was able to set it to work with my HDPVR, no problem, I can watch "live tv", but I can't find a way to program recordings in advance (don't want to use "tv guide" since I record analog).

How do I do that?? Thanks.

  npvr and winxp?
Posted by: stefan - 2011-02-23, 09:48 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (28)

Hey,

Sorry for having been away so long. Still using gbpvr, though, and it's working flawlessly so far =) Computer has crashed, though, so I might have to get another one going here. Or a new motherboard/processor. In either case, I wonder if npvr runs on winxp, or if I'd have to upgrade windows to run it? Any other hardware requirements I should be aware of? I've run gbpvr on a winxp with 1 GB ram, would I have to go higher ram wise with npvr?

Keep up the good job!
/Stefan
