What would something like this be like for a nPVR client machine (playing NZ DVB-T content). Would it deal with it.

  Human Target
Posted by: pBS - 2011-01-13, 07:27 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (4)

any know if/when they are going to show that last Human Target on fox?
they yanked a 2-hr episode last night to show a rerun of 'raising hope' and the memorial [or should i say photo-op] service...

i can't find it relisted or any info in epg...anybody hear anything?
looked on fan sites but they were just pissed as well..rumors about it returning later that night didn't happen, still kinda po'd they'd yank it last minute and not give any info about it...guess they think we're just watching cuz we agree with their politics and the product isn't important..lol
well if they want our money to fund their laughable politics, then they better stop doin this crap..
i bet they'll cancel it for some stupid reason since it's peaking..which would be typical..

  Already Viewed Indicator
Posted by: steveum - 2011-01-13, 04:29 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

As I recall, there was some sort of already viewed indicator on the recordings. I don't seem to have that anymore with NPVR. Is there some option for turning that on with NPVR?

  NEWA Guide Blank
Posted by: ottoguy - 2011-01-13, 12:43 PM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (15)

The guide in the NEWA is completely blank. I attached the logs. The web.log file shows a bunch of errors when I was trying to set recordings with Searchlight. Then at the bottom of the log it shows an attempt to access the guide which fails. I am not running the schedules direct add-on for NEWA yet, is it required or just gives extra features? I have applied all the patches in the NPVR sticky. Also I'm running Windows 7 64bit if any of that matters.

  Dual tuner signal strength problem
Posted by: smiffypr - 2011-01-13, 12:10 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (21)

I have been trying to understand why sometimes recordings are fine, and occasionally very poor.
I have three tuners, a WinTV Nova T stick and a WinTV Nova TD stick (containing two tuners).

In order to get the signal strength displayed on the setting>status window, I deleted the contents of C/program files/NPVR and installed version 1.5.31 (I had version 1.5.36 running previously).

If I record three channels which are on different frequencies (e.g. TV1, TV3 and Prime) I find that two tuners show 100% signal, but one shows a low signal, often 40%.
I have eliminated the aerial cables by swapping them around during recording.

I noticed that it was always tuner 2 on the dual tuner stick which had the low signal. Then I tried changing the priority of the tuners in settings>devices, and found that it wasn't always tuner 2, but the second of the dual tuners to be used.

If it was always the same tuner, I would suspect a hardware issue, but as it is not, it could be a driver issue, or an NPVR issue.
I do have the latest hauppauge drivers installed.

The log shows starting NPVR, going into the guide and setting tree recordings going. The settings>status showed
dev1 path0 100% (dual tuner 1)
dev2 path0 100% (single tuner)
dev1 path1 40% but varying (dual tuner 2)

Any clues from the log as to where the problem lies?

  How to stop duplicate recordings?
Posted by: zaldwaik - 2011-01-13, 03:58 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (9)

Ever since I switched to NPVR I keep getting lots of duplicate recordings. Is there a way to prevent this?

Here is an example from my xmltv.xml file (I am using mc2xml for guide updates) for two consecutive scheduled recordings for the same show that has already been recorded before.

Code:
<programme start="20110113120000 -0500" stop="20110113130000 -0500" channel="I27.28455777.microsoft.com"> <title lang="en">NOVA</title> <sub-title lang="en">Deadliest Earthquakes</sub-title> <desc lang="en">Scientists in Haiti and Chile gather data to prevent future disasters.</desc> <date>20110111</date> <category lang="en">Educational</category> <category lang="en">Episodic</category> <category lang="en">Other</category> <category lang="en">Science</category> <category lang="en">Series</category> <episode-num system="onscreen">3801</episode-num> <episode-num system="dd_progid">EP00003163.0608</episode-num> <video> <aspect>16:9</aspect> <quality>HDTV</quality> </video> <audio> <stereo>stereo</stereo> </audio> <previously-shown start="20110111000000" /> <premiere /> <subtitles type="teletext" /> <rating system="VCHIP"> <value>TV-PG</value> </rating> </programme> <programme start="20110113130000 -0500" stop="20110113140000 -0500" channel="I27.28455777.microsoft.com"> <title lang="en">NOVA</title> <sub-title lang="en">Deadliest Earthquakes</sub-title> <desc lang="en">Scientists in Haiti and Chile gather data to prevent future disasters.</desc> <date>20110111</date> <category lang="en">Educational</category> <category lang="en">Episodic</category> <category lang="en">Other</category> <category lang="en">Science</category> <category lang="en">Series</category> <episode-num system="onscreen">3801</episode-num> <episode-num system="dd_progid">EP00003163.0608</episode-num> <video> <aspect>16:9</aspect> <quality>HDTV</quality> </video> <audio> <stereo>stereo</stereo> </audio> <previously-shown start="20110111000000" /> <premiere /> <subtitles type="teletext" /> <rating system="VCHIP"> <value>TV-PG</value> </rating> </programme>

And stay with Gp-pvr. It works like a old train's closet.
With Npvr there is always something wrong, wrong aspect ratio, sound is out of sync,
recordings list is messed and so on.
Sometimes I'd like only watch tv, not readjust decoders and ohthers all the time.

  stable live tv and recordings
Posted by: rantzau - 2011-01-12, 10:51 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (12)

Hello

I am new to NPVR, and I love the interface, but I am having severe problems getting NPVR to show live tv stable. It keeps being unstable. And my recordings are either broken after 5 min(in tv listing it says it is OK, but it is not) or it is a unstable picture/sound.

I have tried NPVR on 2 machines and on both I have this problem. I have tried with different codecs, microsoft, pinacle, coreavc-pro to name some. But nothing gets it stable.
Then i run DVBviewer, MCE, or 4therecord i get stable pictures, so I am a little lost here and hope some one can guide me in the right direction.

Which information do you need to help me?

my hardware at the moment is a ion atom board, with 2 gb memory(+4gb readyboost)

Thanks in advance :-)

No video with PCH on New Win 7 install
Posted by: roy - 2011-01-12, 05:41 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (4)

I've installed Win7 32 Home (dual boot) on my HTPC. All went very smoothly, NPVR up and running, copied mvpmc share folder over, I think I have everything shared properly and the firewall all opened up.

PCH boots up, sees the same old media share, loads NPVR, menus work, but will not play video or sound. Only get black screen that drops back to menu after a minute or two.

I've rebooted several times. Doesn't help. One thing I've noticed is that while PCH has black screen, if I change the skin background image on the PC, then restart NPVR, the background has not changed, and sometimes on reboot, the PCH does not get skin changes. Is something being locked? Win7 permissions?

Logs attached that include syntax check.

I've got Win7 all ready to go except for this. Any suggestions?
Thanks

  Save Recording
Posted by: ydekmekji - 2011-01-12, 03:33 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

For nPVR--I have a few shows that are recurring recordings and I cap it about 5 (these are kids shows Smile From time to time, my kids fall in love with one of the episodes. I'd like the option to save that particular recording and not have it get deleted when another recording comes up.
