2. Another settings Q - How do you get past fatalstartup errors in NPVR?
GBPVR used to be able to let you into config (even if there was an error starting PVRX2), as PVRX2 (to run the PVR) was separate.
But with NPVR+Settings now combined, an error I had (not removing a "!--" from a skin) gave me an error that I couldn't get past when I started NPVR, but I couldn't get back to settings either. The actual error is in the logs, but I fixed it; this Q relates more to not being able to get TO settings anymore??
For (1) ... more on this ... I've established that whenever I go into settings, plugins, it adds another "blanmk" entry. I deleted them from config.xml but they keep coming back, like the triffids.
Would it be possible to shows icons rather than rows in the NPVR Recordings screen? I just find it easier to manage and as the cons are smaller there's less scrolling.
If it is not possible in NPVR, if any kind person is writing a new NPVR plugin, this format and the "archive all" utility in the XRECORD plugin (only GBPVR) are what I really really miss in NPVR.
A while ago Sub fixed the issue of the BBCi channels not appearing in the scan and they worked fine. However something has gone wrong in the last few weeks and now I get a blank screen with audio when I try to watch them. I cant put an exact time on when it went wrong, ie if it was installing 1.5.36 that caused this. I have a feeling that it stopped working shortly before I upgraded to 1.5.36. The log implies he has no idea what the video feed is and doesn't bother attempting to create a graph including the video. Logs attached.
I have not been able to get Live TV to start. I choose a channel, the AC3 filter icon shows up in the system tray, but I get a black screen with no audio. My NPVR log shows a repeating "Client about to request renewal of handle: 150003", and the recording length is always 0kb.

Liking the new NPVR but have a couple of bug to iron out yet. While i'm waiting for other threads to be answered - thought i'd ask (as I can't find) as it possible for auto divx conversion? I was in recording tab but couldn't see any preference. It's recording but at 2 gig an hour, looking for a divx/xvid/ac3/small conversion out of the box - can't find any documentation on if it does this yet *unless i'm blind*
My cable company provides HD and SD versions of some stations on the same analog channel number. As an example on the analog tuner channel 7 is SD and on the STB channel 7 comes out as HD for capture for the HDPVR. I do want to be able to record both HD or SD at my choice
What I also want to do is keep channels 1-60 as analog, and an analog.xml file works fine. If my HDPVR is recording 7 can I tell it that it is a different channel 7 and pick a different channel number? The guide info will be the same too, if that makes a difference.
I am wondering how often does NPVR go through the epg guide and adds/updates recordings in the database? My impression is that it does it once after epg update, but I am not sure.
I am asking because I may have to update epg (outside npvr) more than once a day, and if new/changed recordings show up I would like to know if NPVR would pick them up automatically or if I need to restart the service or do something else.
I decided to challenge myself and see about building a HE-AAC remuxer inside mvpmcx2 to allow native playback from NPVR. I have a limited number of short captured samples from around the world and so far I have been succesfully able to play captures from NZ, BBC, Denmark, Norway, Sweden (AAC LC) and Brazil, (AAC SBR what a bit of work that was!).
The remuxer does have to convert each audio bit so there is a good opportunity for error, after all that will be a minimum 24000 conversions a second, so I can't really say how will this will work, and I'm sure it will fail on some files, but do it will improve over time as I understand the process. Even at this point the files play better on my PCH the on my PC.
Please let us now how this works for you. If your country is not on the list (or there are differences in your broadcasters) provide me with an update.
If a file doesn't work, I would certainly like to get a sample, so a 50 MB chunk on megaupload or mediafire would be very helpful. I have found that I have had to tweak something for each country.
Based on the success so far this is now the production version of mvpmcx2 and is available through the normal sources (NMTInstall 1&2, CSI, and online, currently mvpmcx2o.7z) the benefits outway any problems that may occur.
Any help? It's crashing every time I try to watch a channel through my HD-PVR live. Recordings work fine and my HDHR channels are working fine.
The HD-PVR live playback was working OK at some point in the fairly recent past, I am not sure what might have changed to break it. The audio comes through but the video never starts.
