The setting that prefers AC3 works fine in Live and done recordings. But in recordings that are still active I get several seconds sync issues. This is not random, but happens all the time. Skipping a few secs back or forth that sometimes fixes sync problems have no effect here. I have tried several different video and audio decoders but the sync problem is still there and seem not be caused by decoders. When I change the registry back to 0 (no AC3 prefer) the sync problem is gone. It starts on HE-AAC and I can select AC3 manually and get it in sync.

The channels that have this issue have all two audio tracks, one AC3 and one HE-AAC.

I am having problems with one channel here in Sweden (Axess TV) that does not give me any audio. It is MPEG-4 video, HE-AAC audio, SD resolution.

The thing is that HE-AAC works in all other channels with HE-AAC, just not in this one.
I am beginning to think it is demuxed wrongly, but that is just a theory.

I have tried Monogram, Arcsoft and Divx AAC decoders and no difference.

I was looking for something unrelated and came across the fact that one of the muxes on mendip changes frequency on the 11th of January to accomodate BT - Sky Sports.

I'm in Melbourne, Australia, and trying to get SBS to show up on N-PVR. All the other channels are showing up with a scan. The other weird thing is that there is another TV in the house, using the same aerial, which CAN get SBS.

I tried putting the frequency in manually and couldn't find anywhere to do so. I eventually stumbled on "NPVR\Tuning\DVB-T\Australia - Melbourne.ini", which does have the line "5=5,536500,0,0,7", and that's SBS's frequency according to various websites I've found it on. One site quoted it as 536625, so I added the line "6=6,536625,0,0,7", restarted N-PVR and scanned again to no avail.

Any ideas?

Sub, when you get back and have a moment, can you update the Custom Tasks feature so that a working directory can be specified? Some programs expect to find their 'stuff' relative to the current directory, and thus don't work when launched as a custom task.

edit: also, I just discovered that if I disable a custom task, npvr 'forgets' what it is; it's still in the plugin list, but it loses it's parameters and does nothing if re-enabled. I then have to manually fix it or delete it from config.xml. it'd also be nice to be able to edit an existing custom task.

I am suddenly unable to access the Recordings screen - NPVR goes Non-responsive.
The logs show a locked database.
This is immediately after a reboot.

I have a Mygica A680B USB QAM tuner that NPVR is detecting, but not finding any channels for.

The device is detected as a Microtune Dongle Digital QAM Tuner, and Digital Tuner. But no matter what setting I use during the scan process it always returns 0 results. Any ideas or suggestions?

Sub, are you using awaymode? npvr really needs it while recording..
it prevents sleep modes and is made pretty much just for recording apps like this..
it's super simple to implement, just one call when recording, and another to clear those flags when done..
even if user hits sleep button it still enters away mode and screen blanks, but press any key and display comes back on...
if no user interaction and you clear flag when recording's done, system will go ahead and continue the sleep mode transition...so it kinda like pauses sleep mode till recordings are done, then sleeps...
also would prevent sleeping when resumed automatically for recordings....[not using enough cpu for windows to notice it still needs system..]

from rec service, call SetThreadExecutionState with ES_SYSTEM_REQUIRED + ES_CONTINUOUS + ES_AWAYMODE_REQUIRED [0x80000041]
to enter away mode when recording, and ES_CONTINUOUS [0x80000000] to clear it and let system suspend.. by using ES_CONTINUOUS, you only have to do it once till recording ends, when you clear it..works reliably from all my testing..
[actually i've been using this in a separate app i made, would be better built in]

and to prevent accidental shutdown while recording, use the ShutdownBlockReasonCreate and destroy which brings up that dialog so users do have a chance to force shutdown when need be, but it'll sit there forever till the reason is destroyed or user selects cancel or shutdown, and i was putting the name of recording in reason text so you could decide if recording was worth it..

i have working code for both, and it's not much to add..
works in vista/7 only, i know you were using ES_SYSTEM_REQUIRED in pvrx2, but it doesn't prevent sleep in vista/7..
since this app is best on vista/7, might as well make it modern...

I keep getting two errors when trying to enter Live Tv. "Unable to Communicate with Recording Service" or "Unable to find an available tuner". More often it is the communication with the recording service. This is all on one pc, no mvps, clients, or nmt's. I have 3 tuners, Hauppauge PVR USB2, Hauppauge 250, and Hauppauge 1800. The 250 doesn't work in Windows 7 64 bit so it's not in use. With just the PVR USB2 NPVR works great. However as soon as I put the 1800 in the computer nothing works. I get the above errors. The logs show sometimes an "Attempt to read protected memory" I have ran windows 7 memory test and re-seated the dimms. The same hardware works fine with windows xp and gbpvr. (dual boot). I have turned off windows firewall, and there is no virus protection or other such program running. It is a fresh install of windows with NPVR, and IRServer Suite. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am running the newest version of NPVR.

The NPVR.log file doesn't show much as right now the program crashes as soon as it opens. The NPVR.log.2 is the last time it ran and I was receiving the communication errors.

Caught wind that the fine tinkerers at gbpvr were hashing out a new project and thought after a 6 year hiatus in Windows Media Center Land, I'd try out the new, good stuff. Unfortunately, that is (after 5 hours of staring at a computer screen, blankly) where I am still at: in thought.

Here is my problem: My MVP is stuck at the loading screen saying "Connecting to Boot Server" with minor flashes ever 30 seconds or so to "Connecting to DHCP".

Here is my situation: 3 MVP D3 Revision boxes trying to get NPVR to load. I only hook up one at a time, since I am looking to troubleshoot here. Each one registers on my router with the correct MAC address and a good assigned by the router DHCP ip address. Pinging works good.

Here is my issue: I am pretty sure I am missing some kind of server application that is not installed with the NPVR program. Something along the lines a boot server. Unfortunately, since my aforementioned hiatus, I have forgotten what I need to get this guy running, and I am pretty sure that I can't use the old methods even if I do remember them because that was more than 2 OS's ago. Since I now have Windows 7 64-bit (for the ram), I am not getting anywhere with the MediaMVP software package from their support website. So even using these MVPs as stock is out of the question. I have found johnsonx42's sticky for newbs and I have downloaded in preparation mvallevand's dongle (which the MVP gets its OS from, I gather) but I just can't seem to find that last piece of the puzzle.

Here is what I would like: Tell me what I need to download to get this to work like I see others in forums talking about, so that I can get stuck on their more advanced issues as well.

I should say that I have got the program to work on my actual PC/Media Server in windowed and full screen mode. It looks fantastic! I am just hoping to get the same results for the MVP.
