Request - Find More would search recordings, too
Posted by: ElihuRozen - 2011-01-01, 03:22 AM - Forum: TV Listings - Replies (7)

I think it would be great if I do a Find More that it would include shows I have already recorded. That way if I recorded some movie a long time ago & forgot about it, if I see it in the listings & do a Find More, I will see that I have already recorded it. It would also be handy for episodes of TV shows.

Also, is there any way to move through the recordings a page at a time or to jump to a letter in the alphabet? I thought I could do that with TV Recordings in GBPVR, but don't seem to be able to figure out how to do it in NPVR.

  1.5.36 Recordings Change Channel Mid-stream
Posted by: BrettB - 2011-01-01, 12:11 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

I do not have any analog devices. All cable, clear QAM. I've got 4 tuners--1 dual-tuner HDHR giving 2 and 1 AverMedia A188C PCIe Pure ATSC card giving 2. All tuners are connected to the same cable source and have the same channels configured in npvr. Generally, the HDHR tuners are the ones being used since they have the highest priority.

For this test, the following channels were used:
• qam256 75-1 233 WCCODT (broadcast 4) 1920x1080i 16:9
 • qam256 75-2 232 KAREDT (broadcast 11) 1920x1080i 16:9

 • qam256 79-1 231 KSTPDT (broadcast 5) 1280x720p 16:9
 • qam256 79-3 234 KMSPDT (broadcast 9) 1280x720p 16:9
I started the following 4 recordings all with 1 minute pre-padding and 2 minutes post-padding. I verified the tuner being used both with the HDHR Config (GUI) and the npvr tray status display.
• (10453): E:\NPVR Recordings\College Football\College Football_20101231_13001700.ts (Channel 233 - HDHR #0)
 • (10454): E:\NPVR Recordings\Judge Judy\Judge Judy_20101231_16301700.ts (Channel 234 - HDHR #1)
 • (10456): E:\NPVR Recordings\Jeopardy!\Jeopardy!_20101231_16301700.ts (Channel 232 - HDHR #0)
 • (10457): E:\NPVR Recordings\5 Eyewitness News at 430\5 Eyewitness News at 430_20101231_16301700.ts (Channel 231 - HDHR #1)
Everything starts out just fine. 2 HDHR tuners being used, 4 programs being recorded to 4 files.

Then I scheduled one additional recording:
• (10455): E:\NPVR Recordings\FOX at 5\FOX at 5_20101231_17001730.ts (Channel 234)
Now at 17:00 (not 16:59 which pre-padding would indicate), nrecord starts this recording, but it uses HDHR #0. The HDHR Config (GUI) shows that the tuned frequency/channel for HDHR #0 is indeed changed from 75 to 79 at that time. The nprv tray status then shows 3 recordings on that tuner for the 2 minute period 17:00-17:02. When I play the original 2 recordings from HDHR #0, 2 minutes before the end of recording #10456 the file goes from channel 232 to channel 231. What's very strange is that recording #10453 seems to remain on channel 233. And the new recording #10455 records channel 234. The 2 recordings from HDHR #1 seem to work just fine.

There are 2 problems with this situation:
 1. Recording #10456 "changes channel" in the middle of the file (actually 2 minutes before the end of the file). These changes cause problems with comskip and mvpmcx2--especially since these two channels aren't using the same resolution.
 2. Recording #10455 doesn't get its pre-padding eventhough there is already an active & available tuner on the frequency it needs both during the pre-padding and all recording and post-padding times. (In fact, the file for recording #10454 has the contents that should have also been in recording #10455.)

  disk I/O error??
Posted by: bnz - 2010-12-31, 08:04 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (18)

I recently built a new system running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I downloaded nPVR and had it running (whilst still in process of figuring out all the keyboard commands Rolleyes) but am now getting:

Some kind of disk I/O error occured
disk I/O error.

everytime I go to live tv or when I go into settings and click on devices. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling my Hauppage 2250 and nPVR, even upgraded to 1.5.36 to no avail. Sad I keep getting the same error and am unable to view live tv now.

Any help would be appreciated. (Also, I looked for the thread on what to do when posting but can't find it on here now so don't know how to upload my logs if you need to look at them.)

Oh yes, WinTV7 has no problems running, it just doesn't have the same clarity of pic that nPVR does.

  broken recordings
Posted by: DHL - 2010-12-31, 07:19 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Once or twice per week, usually in the afternoon, I get several small files of a handful of programs that are currently recording (recurring programs). It seems random as to when this anomaly occurs. But it consistently happens every few days. I have tried rebooting. I have also deleted the db3 file and started over with scanning channels and recreating my recording schedule. Neither has fixed the problem. I am running nPVR on two other computers (same builds), that do not have this problem. I have also disabled the 1st tuner card in my list, thinking that might be an issue, but the problem still occurs. Any ideas? Also, the broken recordings occur for both manually scheduled recurring recordings and for EPG selected recurring programs. I have also right clicked on the system tray icon, and chose "restart recording service," to no avail.

Happy New Year.

Running nPVR v1.5.33.

manual recurring recordings that cross midnight are duplicated upon EPG update
Posted by: DHL - 2010-12-31, 07:11 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

I have 3 manual recurring recordings that cross midnight each day, and when the EPG update occurs at midnight, nPVR continues recording the original programs, and also begins recording 3 new programs from midnight until the respective stop times. I am running 1.5.33.

thank you!

NPVR wish list: recording path select (per recording) & email when an error occurs
Posted by: DHL - 2010-12-31, 07:05 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (3)

NPVR is great! Thank you for all of the time you've put into creating it!

Two requests:

1. Ability to choose a path for recording each program
2. send an email when recording service stops or hangs, or a recording fails, etc.

Cheers!
Happy New Year!

The Most Awesome Monster Cable Ever!

The Monster Stove cable!

Imagine how much better your food will taste.

Can't imagine the price that this thing started at but it was covered with dust and had been marked down several times all the way to about $5.00.

Seen at Fry's Electronics which is a wonderland that you poor folks without access to the USA can only imagine.

Hello and welcome to our series of polls: "Polls, the world didn't ever needed"

Do you like hogmanay / new year's eve / silvester or not?

What are you doing then? Party? Dance? Sleep? Drink? Play? Work?

Personally i dislike this one. Perhaps i'll do the same as every year: 1 hour before midnight plugging something in my ears and go to bed. Big Grin

Unable to communicate with recording service
Posted by: theBored - 2010-12-31, 04:56 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

My Winfast TV2000 XP card did not use to work because the driver used some hungarian names. First of all thanks sub for fixing this issue. Unfortunately I have another one.

Whenever I try to watch something with the winfast card, I get an "Unable to communicate with recording service" error.

When I check in DScaler, Winfast TV2000 XP WDM Capture (DShow) has 18 available resolutions. Looking at the logs, NPVR seems to go through only 2 of them before dying. I don't know if it's relevant, but these two resolutions are the ones available in preview (Elonézet).

Thanks for your help!

  Device failed to start
Posted by: steeb - 2010-12-31, 02:47 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (13)

Just me missing something as usual no doubt.

Making the move to NPVR from GB-PVR on same machine, same devices etc. Know I did not have this error before with 1.3.3. Just to check ran up all 3 devices I have in GB-PVR on different clients simultaneously they all worked playing TV.

I get message 'device failed to start'

but is this referring to my PVR 150 (in which case I know there is an error with analog device & NPVR to be worked out) or my trusty FiredTV device? I think this refers to my FiredTV device which I know is working brilliantly with GB-PVR. (Just checked Big Grin )

This is with NPVR 1.3.6 and no patches, did I miss something?

cheers

Steeb
