One of my resolutions this year is to watch at least one Doctor Who program which somehow escaped me over the years, I don't even think I have saw a part of on partly because when I was a kid I actually thought it was a medical show like Dr Kildare or Ben Casey, but I digress. Having the Netflix trial I have the following choices, does anyone have a suggestion from these?

The Tomb of the Cybermen
The Robots of Death
The Talons of Weng-Chiang
The Armageddon Factor
Earthshock

If I do like it, how important is it to watch Dr. Who episodically? I know there are three distinct series, but does it really matter a lot if I watch them randomly and out of order?

I am having a problem with some recordings when a video or audio glitch happens to be in the file. While playback after the glitch the audio is gone unless I pause then play, or do a short skip. Otherwise the audio is gone indefinitely. PCH is not able to recover unless I intervene.

I have a strong signals for channels where this happens, so I cannot pin point the root cause. It could be my tuner getting old after 5 years, or something else causing the problem.

I tried running videoredo on recordings with limited success. Sometimes videoredo will introduce a glitch by fixing something else and the problem happens with the fixed file, but not the original. Sometimes it happens with both.

This appears to be a PCH issue as the problem happens outside NPVR too. I have not found much looking for answers on the PCH forum, I thought the folks here would have better insights (especially Martin) that might help me resolve the issue.

I am considering scripting tsmuxer to remux the file into a new one, but it looks like a lot of work to do compared to videoredo. Audio is AC3 and recordings are ATSC.

I have a usb Nova-t 70009 in my new GBPVR built box, and a second one which I can't get working (suspected hardware fault after guidance from sub).

As I'm not 100% on the hardware fault cause, can anyone reccomend a replacement alternative model for the 2nd tuner from their own experience?

Requirements are:

1. DVB-T
2. Very Cheap (thinking £30 sterling ish)
3. Known to work on GBPVR 1.4.7 and be natively detected if possible
4. USB or half height PCI bracket format.
5. Still easily available

I'm having problems with my AF9015 USB tuner, as I'm eager to get NPVR going I'm thinking of getting another USB tuner (DVB-T).
Does anyone know of a USB tuner that currently works with NPVR under WinXP?

Using NPVR 1.5.36, with the second patch in [thread=48803]this thread[/thread] that fixed skipping (although I think it happened before that patch too), When a second recording starts (using the two tuners of a HDHomeRun), about a minute into it, all recording ceases until the recording service restarts.

In the case that I'm attaching the log for, I have one recording starting at 18:30, and one starting at 19:00. Both recorded until 18:01 and then stopped (so I have a 31 minute file for the first recording and a 1 minute file for the second, both of which play fine, and are just... short).

If I restart the recording service (still during the time that both should be recording, then I get roughly an additional minute of recording before they break again. That log is also attached, although it includes at the end me actually stopping the service.

I don't see any errors in the log, it just... no longer records, and anything scheduled won't record until after I restart the service. Thank you for any help you can give.

I'm considering starting to use Comskip again, but will it take advantage of the timing.info included in recordings?

After installing 1.5.36 I'm having a problem with TVListings, as reported here. When watching any video through TVListings (live, in process, or completed recording) I get bad stutter and high CPU (SD ~60%, HD ~70%). When watching the same files with TV Guide or Recordings, video plays smooth and CPU is low (SD ~15, HD ~40). I don't see anything in the new logs attached, which at the end show watching the same program live with TVListings first then with TV Guide.

What other causes can I look for?

I want to put together a new HTPC, I'd like it to be capable of playing HD content (blu-ray disks, and H.264 encoded videos), and also be able to record two channels simultaneously. If possible I would like for the tuners to support HD viewing and recording (for which I guess I'd need a DVB-T2 tuner).

I currently have a Hauppauge WinTV Nova-T PCI, if a DVB-T2 tuner is not an option for now, then would re-use my Nova-T, would it be better to purchase an additional WinTV Nova-T PCI to have two tuners, or would a single dual tuner card (such as the Nova-TD-500) be a better option? Are dual tuner cards as good as getting individual tuner cards (any advantages/dis-advantages)? Would anyone recommend a different DVB-T card instead of the Nova-T or Nova-TD-500? Does anyone also have any opinions on the USB tuners over internal cards, do they perform as well?

For the other components I was looking at something along the lines of an Intel Core i3 540 3.06GHz with 4GB (2x2GB) of RAM. Still undecided about the motherboard, but will depend on whether I end up going for a dual tuner or two single tuners, and whether the tuners are PCI or PCI-E, depending on those points will need to look at a relevant board that has enough PCI or PCI-E slots.

I considered an Atom based system, but wasn't sure whether that would be able to handle a situation such as playing a HD movie while recording two channels, or would it? Also looked at the Athlon II range, they seem well priced and a little more energy efficient than the i3's, but

Is the integrated GPU on the i3s good enough for H.264 content decoding or would I need to look at a purchasing a dedicated graphics card?

Is there any chance that similar to "create link" from theTVDB.com could be implemented for Amazon? What I am really looking for is an easy way to get the movie poster for recorded movies and maybe some rating info as well?

The theTVDB.com linking works fine now with one exception (found so far). The show "Christine" (the new adventures of old Christine) refuses to link. All other shows found links fine. Logs attached.

Finally, If a show cannot be found due to the translated name in the XMLTV is there any way to manually fix the link? For example the show "two and a half men" is in my EPG Guide translated to "2 1/2 män" which does not return anything.
