  Pause/Play on MCE Remote
Posted by: smajor - 2010-12-22, 12:11 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

Hello, I have one of those MCE knock-off remotes that are part remote and part keyboard, at least as seen by Windows. It's an ORtek VRC-1100 aka Adesso ARC-1100.

My problem doesn't concern the keyboard part, that's my problem as it's unsupported. Smile

This remote works well with GB-PVR for all the MCE core functions (pause/play,etc.)

On NPVR the Pause/Play buttons don't seem to be working at all. However, Stop, Skip Ahead/Back - all the core MCE buttons EXCEPT Pause/Play work. On MCE they are one in the same button anyway.

Again, I just want to stress that those buttons work on the same computer with GB-PVR with no modifications e.g. reg tweaks/HIP/EventGhost. I exit out of GB-PVR and open NPVR and it doesn't.

Any suggestions?

  Scanning DVB-S missing some channels
Posted by: #66 - 2010-12-22, 07:50 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (14)

  List of Skin Elements
Posted by: ACTCMS - 2010-12-21, 11:31 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (7)

Is there an API which returns a list of the Elements in the currently active skin file?

or alternatively, is there an easy of finding out the name of the current skin file since it may depend on the current TV shape?

or do I need to work it out from first principles?

ATI HD 5440 or Nvidia Geforce G210
Posted by: Bathman - 2010-12-21, 09:43 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (1)

I have been using a trusty Nvidia 7300LE for the last 5 years or so and it has simply been the best HTPC graphics card ever. Totally silent as it has no fan and runs very cool. Which is handy as there is no fan in the case at all (Pentium M motherboard)

Unfortunately the setup not very good with BBC HD so I was thinking of updating the graphics card to address this.

As the above two cards have the lowest power consumption that I am aware off I was considering upgrading to one or the other. Has anyone got any experience of either card.

I was leaning more towards Nvidia as i've been so pleased with the 7300LE and I also upgraded to a Nvida 3450 a couple of years ago (HD playback was perfect) but the thing used too much energy for my fanless PSU and it also ran very hot.

Any opinions appreciated.

Netbook on lan feeding hdtv.. starting to set this up with Q's
Posted by: Dave72 - 2010-12-21, 05:59 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

So its looking like Im going to dedicate my netbook to the new lcd tv we have. Currently, we're just playing net videos (youtube) out via the hdmi. I bought a wireless keyb and mouse to control it. So far so good.
Now, Id like to consider working NVPVR into this.
Should I be installing NVPVR at the netbook and source my content via web or net shared drives ? Or should I be installing NVPVR at the main pc and using the netbook as a client ??
Im thinking the way to go is to have the netbook as host with a shell of some type where I can use NVPVR or jump out to do things that NVPVR isnt capable of (yet ?).

Anyone gone up this route ?

  NZ Freeview XML tvguide
Posted by: vbsxmltvnz@hotmail.co.nz - 2010-12-20, 11:37 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (3)

Guys,

Not sure if some of you are stuck now trying to get reliable Freeview XML TVguide listings. If so use the following VBS script I have written.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=FCWAMIRZ

You can download and check out. As it is if you run the VBS script it will download all freeview channels except c42 and TV3+1, since they're not on the TVNZ freeview guide as yet.

Comments or suggestions welcome. Will update further in the comming weeks.

HDHomerun tuner - no live TV and empty recording file
Posted by: qualsite - 2010-12-20, 11:05 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

I installed NPVR on a Win 7 system using HDHomerun dual tuner. It locks up when trying to use Live TV, and all I get is an empty TS file when trying to record. I assume that Win Media Center is not letting me use the HDHomerun tuners, although the log seems to indicate that NPVR is accessing them. Any ideas about what I missed to get the tuners to work? I can't find anywhere that HDHomerun keeps a log.

Also, does NPVR only record to a TS file? How do I convert to mpeg to play on my media player? We were using MythTV for years on my Linux computer, but my wife uses the Win 7, so we are now on Windows again, and I'm hoping that NPVR will be the replacement for MythTV, and the DVRMSToolbox takes way too long to convert recordings from Media Center format to mpeg. I'm new to this, so sorry if I'm missing something obvious..... thanks...

  Movies as pillerbox
Posted by: 7ore - 2010-12-20, 08:45 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

hen I start playing movies, I get a "pillerbox" (black frames all around) or 4:3 view (depending on movie source) and have to right click and select aspect ratio=auto. Can I set "Aspect ratio=Auto" as default somewhere?

And can I stop nextPVR from being run in more than one instance at the time, as GB-PVR.
I have a button on the remote that start NextPVR and if I press it unintentionally, I get a new instance...
