  Working after a year
Posted by: Paul_B - 2010-12-18, 06:14 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (2)

I've had a PCH and GBPVR for about 18 months. Could never get it working with my Windows 2008 R2 Server and PCH using the network. I did manage to get it working my putting all the files on a hard drive local to the PCH.

Now the PCH is in its final position and connected via Cat5 structured cable to the NPVR server. Thought I'd give the network setup one last try. Finally discovered my problem was the N-PVR.html had my share as W2K8R2 and my media share was actually w2k8r2. Glad it is now fixed and hate capitilisation in *nix systems!

Paul

For others my system is Windows 2008 R2 server joined to a 2008 R2 AD domain. I use user and password access rather than Guest

  Hardware PVR Recorder
Posted by: Bathman - 2010-12-18, 01:51 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (7)

The old folks currently use GBPVR and yours truly keep it updated. Unfortunately/fortunately (delete as appropriate) I am having to move further away so I'm not going to be around as much.

I'm therefore thinking of buying them a Hardware FreeView recorder. However in the past the ones I have seen have been somewhat disappointing - no series record etc.
Has anyone got any experience/recommendation of any decent units.

ASUS 1501P using the MCE remote with GBPVR?
Posted by: jasjol - 2010-12-18, 10:22 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (1)

I have bought an ASUS eeeBOX 1501P which has included MCE remote.

Anyone who has the same and use it with GBPVR?

will the remote easily work with GBPVR or do I need to do some configuration somewhere?

I will have the ASUS in livingroom and my recording PC with GBPVR (WInXP today) is in another room - I would like to be able to use the ASUS and other PCs as a GBPVRclient - tried some year ago but never got the client to work - hopefully easier today - I will use Windows 7 on all PCs.

Is the client function working good for you?

NPVR + AF9015 USB tuner wont scan for channels
Posted by: spotty - 2010-12-18, 08:42 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (23)

Hi,
Im installing NPVR on a fresh install of WinXP & cant get it to scan channels.
The sequence is as below-
settings->devices->AF9015 BDA Filter
Country: australia
Region: Brisbane
CI/CAM: none (?Im assuming this is correct?)
scan
It starts scanning 177500khz (which is a channel) but nothing happens - the longest Ive left this for is a few minutes.

Logs are attached.

NB latest drivers used - Scanchannelsbda.exe works fine with the hardware.

thanks

  EPG choices for Brisbane, Australia
Posted by: spotty - 2010-12-18, 01:00 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

Hi,

I'm just about to install NPVR and am wondering what the best choice is for an EPG these days.

Do all the TV stations transmit the TV guide yet? if so, whats the best way of using this with NPVR?

I have been using epgstream but they seem to be out of date and not answering emails.
I'm trying to avoid IceTV (good guide but $) but if they're the only choice I may have to go back to them.

Thanks

  Airplay Support
Posted by: pgbpvr - 2010-12-18, 12:00 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (7)

Hi,

I know some will not find this usefull but I surely would Smile

Someone (http://www.tuaw.com/2010/12/14/hacksugar...ac-playba/) just developed an Airplay "server" for the mac.

A similar server in windows that would then transfer the image to, say a popcornhour, would be a great feature.

Now I can relate that it wouldnt be easy, but, since the popcorn hour has no bonjour support (that I'm aware of) it would be next to impossible to do it there.

Thanks for reading and considering the idea.

Pedro.

  0 sized files
Posted by: pjm460 - 2010-12-17, 04:04 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Hello all,

My problem is that my recordings show up in the correct directory, but there is nothing in the file (0 mbs). I cannot get live TV to show up in PVR as well.. Here is the path I have been following to create this mess.

installed NPVR along with GB-PVR ver 1.4.7 and couldn't get it to work ... hasd a hard time getting my channels to show up. So I uninstalled everything and went back to GB-PVR 1.4.7 and during that also changed my media hard drive to a 1.5TB WD green drive which was formatted as a dynamic drive, simple partition.

Ever since all that my pvr hasn't functioned properly. My last attempt at correcting it was to uninstall/re install everything (MS Runtime, etc) again.

As far as my level of technical ability goes, I know enough to really screw things up, but not enough to figure out how to fix them Smile So it would not be too far fetched to find out I have inadvertently deleted something, installed something or corrupted something that I am not aware of.

Thanks

  Listing Transcoded Recordings?
Posted by: dazzyb2k3 - 2010-12-17, 12:56 PM - Forum: TV Listings - Replies (1)

Due to severe resume/skipping issues when using .ts files I've decided to transcode all recordings to .mpg using postprocessing.bat. (the transcoded file retains the same filename) This works perfectly using the default npvr recordings plugin as it just 'falls back' to recognising the .mpg if the .ts doesn't exist. All metadata etc. remains intact.

I was hoping the same might happen for TVrecordings but it doesn't and the transcoded file doesn't show up. Is there any way to make this happen?

Thanks guys

  Commodore 64 reborn

Commodore 64 reborn. Really beautiful cases.
http://www.commodoreusa.net/CUSA_Home.aspx

I newer used one. I had a Sinclair Specrum that had the Basic commands on the keys. I did some programming at that time, but I ended up working with hardware installations at Intergraph.
But it is fun learning some programming again by exploring PHP.
