Unable to have AC3 audio while an HE-AAC decoder is enabled.
Posted by: smiffypr - 2010-12-25, 07:23 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (33)

I'm now on version 1.5.36 but this issue has been there (for me) on the two previous releases too.

All NZ freeview channels use HE-AAC stereo, on the last version of NPVR I used the "DivX AAC Decoder", for this version I need to use "ArcSoft Audio Decoder HD". (These are the only ones which work).

One channel, (TV3) also transmits an AC3 audio stream, but as soon as I enable an AC3 decoder, (AC3Filter is the only one which works), I can no longer hear any of the HE-AAC audio from TV3 and all the other channels.

I've got AC3Filter set to "Prefer other decoder" and "Use AC3Filter for" only has AC3 ticked.

When I have two decoders enabled, if I select the audio stream for AAC, NPVR locks up. If I start playing a channel or recording with just AAC, I get no audio.

  Signal Strength Percentage missing
Posted by: smiffypr - 2010-12-25, 06:42 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

When I replaced .31 with .33, and the signal strength percentage which was shown on settings>status (not on device status from the tray icon though) disappeared. I found it useful. I hoped it might come back with 1.5.36 but it hasn't.

(The change in look from .33 to .36 is good, I can now read text much more easily, thanks.)

New dongle for GBPVR and NPVR 2010-12-24
Posted by: mvallevand - 2010-12-25, 04:58 AM - Forum: MVPMC dongle - Replies (67)

I have updated the release version of mvpmc to support both GBPVR and NPVR

http://www.mvpmc.org/~mvallevand/dongle4npvr.7z

In addition to supporting mpeg-ts files for NPVR, this version should support http streaming (ie. Universe UPnP)

New mvpmcx2o update for GBPVR and NPVR 2010-12-24
Posted by: mvallevand - 2010-12-25, 04:52 AM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (3)

I have updated mvpmcx2 to mvpmcx2o with the following changes

- support for http filename (ie. Universe UPnP)
- handle memory leak on some streams when no drive is installed with swap space
- correct Timing.Info files with gaps on startup.

It is available as direct download http://www.mvpmc.org/~mvallevand/mvpmcx2o.7z or using NMTInstall

  skipping fouled up again
Posted by: johnsonx42 - 2010-12-24, 10:09 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (53)

Sub,

It seems any change you make to the NPVRTSReader to fix the resume issue ends up breaking skipping in one way or another. Skipping is now back to the way it was when you first released 1.5.28, which was also the result of your first effort to patch the resume issue.

Early on in a file skips seem more or less ok, but further into the file the forward skips go too far, and the backwards skips either go back very little or actually jump forward. I've tested several files recorded both before and after installing 1.5.36, it's the same in all of them. In the most explicit test, I start playing a 1 hour HD recording, jump in about 20 minutes with the big skip (which should take 20 1-minute skips but actually requires only 17), then start trying to skip back with the small skip; you can see it continues to advance forward in the file:

Anyone else here think windows media center is somewhat useless?
Posted by: broadband412 - 2010-12-24, 09:01 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

Hello, just wondering what peoples opinion of windows media center is. I feel windows media center on windows 7 is somewhat useless because if your setup consists of a stb connected to a tv card via composite, windows media center insists you have their ir receiver and remote in order to complete media center setup using an stb connected via composite/s video. I think that's ridiculous. A simple option to skip using an ir receiver would have been great. One would have to manually change channels on the stb but so be it. It's not that big of a deal. Downloaded GBPVR configured the epg with mc2xml and everything is good. Using the ir blaster/receiver provided with the HVR 1950 and it works with GBPVR so I can even change channels on the stb via GBPVR. Why does media center have to be so picky. So as it stands now, I use GBPVR to watch and record tv programs and media center to listen to the fm radio from the tv card. Who said windows media center was easy to set up. Sure maybe there is less things to do to setup media center but it is not easy by any means. Your thoughts. Happy Holidays everyone.

  WebRadio 3.4

WebRadio version 3.4 is now available on the (GBPVR) wiki http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/WebRadio

- new Shoutcast API 2.0
- fixed parsing of new layout for Live365 genre pages
- uses new NPVR-Slate hybrid styled skin in 1.5.36
- Winamp player support
- a few code cleanups

Note if you are using an earlier version of NPVR backup the skins in the Default folder, these Default skins will only work in 1.5.36+

  Is Windows 2000 still supported?
Posted by: Bargonaut - 2010-12-24, 06:54 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

I only ask because I might be doing something wrong installing the new release.

I thought I saw Win2k is supported, but the DirectX webupdater requires Win XP as minimum, and running NextPVR I got a runtime exception calling
RegisterRawInputDevices from user32.dll which also expects Win XP.

My gbPVR box is happily working with 1.4.7, and I would understand if nPVR moves on to more modern OS versions. Please let me know if there is an expectation that Win2k should work. Otherwise, I'll stick with gbPVR on this older machine.

thanks.

Playing ISO files in NPVR 1.5.36
Posted by: Blue Racer - 2010-12-24, 05:28 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

Sub, you mentioned that "There is no DVD playback support in NPVR on the NMT devices. It'll probably get it in some future release though". That doesn't include ISO files does it? In the last version of NPVR I was able to play them.
