  XMLTV.XML Location
Posted by: zb1 - 2010-12-20, 09:23 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (18)

I'm converting from GBPVR to NPVR and see that there are differences in the configuration module. I've installed the latest release (1.5.33) and have a few issues. For starters,
1- I can't seem to figure out where XMLTV.XML file is it suppose to be for NPVR to see it and load it?
2- where do I go in NPVR to point NPVR to where the XMLTV file is?
3- then how do you upload the EPG into NPVR?
4- and lastly, how do you map the channels to it?

Thanks

  PVRX2 Has Encountered A User-Defined Breakpoint
Posted by: BTJustice - 2010-12-20, 07:12 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Lately whenever I try to play a recording, I get this error...

"PVRX2 has encountered a user-defined breakpoint."

PVRX2 then proceeds to crash. And for some reason, all of my scheduled and recurring recordings have been cleared out. MARVELOUS!!! What happened? Log attached.

Background service not available, Windows 7
Posted by: dontom - 2010-12-19, 10:06 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (31)

I have just done a fresh install on a brand new computer (win 7 Pro), and decided to test with NPVR. I have previously used GBPVR for many years, on an XP-system, and been very happy with it.

The problem is that I cannot get things working the way I want them to.....

Normally I would use the PC to schedule the recordings, the files end up on a fileserver, and I then watch them from different Xbox'es around the house. So - I never watch shows on the PC - i simply just schedule the recordings.

So my basic scenario:

  • Launch NPVR (NextPVR.exe)
  • Schedule a recording
  • Exit NPVR

Normally I would assume that the recording service running in the background would pick up the thread, and record the scheduled show, but that does not happen. As soon as I close NPVR the recording stops.

I also noticed that there is no icon present in the activity bar, after I close NPVR (reference: GBPVR changed color from white to green when active).

For testing purpose I tried to manually start NPVRServiceControl.exe and got the following:

Quote:The module "NPVRCCDump.ax" was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code
0x80070005

I thought this was an indiciation that something did not install correctly, so I tried re-installing, but it does not help.

Any ideas on what could be wrong?

Attached are logs captured during replay of the above.

  Recording option problem
Posted by: Glynderi - 2010-12-19, 09:35 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

Been running NPVR for a month or so and after a few issues it's running fine.

However, I've noticed a huge difference between NPVR and GBPVR in the management of recordings.

In GBPV when I clicked on the Recording tab/button it responded instantly and I got to look at what was new, planned recordings, conflicts, etc.

In NPVR it's basically the opposite. I click on Recordings and have to wait for up to a couple of minutes before anything happens. The hard disk start going like the clappers and that true for any Recording activity.

What's happening, do you think?

Thanks

Robin

  Tweaking The Guide Display
Posted by: smajor - 2010-12-19, 07:47 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

I'm just getting back to NPVR after several months. I'm starting to tweak things in preparation for an eventual replacement of GBPVR.

In GB-PVR there was a config file setting to tweak the guide just a bit. I'd like to have it not display channel numbers (first column in the screen shot) since my xmlguide provides them as part of the channel name.

Is that setting still available? Thanks!

nPVR program guide is no longer updating
Posted by: DavidB - 2010-12-19, 12:15 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

Hi,

Turning on nPVR after a couple of weeks absence from TV I'm finding the program guide is mostly blank, saying "no show details" for most channels and times, but not all.

It worked fine last time I tried it. Didn't change anything since. (It wasn't working before I applied the patches in the other post of mine from a few minutes ago, so I know the patches have nothing to do with this.)

I went to right-click > settings > channels > update EPG and it didn't fix anything.

Any suggestions how to fix?

Also, just curious, when i right-click and hit "channels" what is supposed to happen?

Thanks,
David

  having trouble installing the patches
Posted by: DavidB - 2010-12-18, 10:39 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

Hi, Gents

I have installed NPVR 1.5.33 and am having some audio sync and drop out problems. was trying to install the patches file. I downloaded it and clicked on "NExtPVR.exe" and the file starts to run, then terminates. Am I not supposed to run the file? Am I supposed to drag the contents of the zip file somewhere instead?

thanks,
David

  Kylo Browser Built for TV
Posted by: bdgbill - 2010-12-18, 08:28 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (5)

Has anyone here tried Kylo? I was surprised when I got no hits when searching the forum.

I am really new to browsing the internet from my TV. In the first five minutes I realized I could see almost nothing from the sofa, even after cranking up windows font size to max. I searched around looking for a Firefox plugin that would help and ran into Kylo.

Installed it yesterday. It's not perfect but it's far better than stock Firefox. Nice 10 foot interface, nice screen alignment tool. Even got the wife to find and play Survivor in HD from the network website on her own. I was also able to comfortably read the website of my local newspaper from my sofa this morning.
