Plugin Manager
Posted by: imilne - 2010-12-09, 01:53 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (20)

When he released the Slate skin, Hairy also made a comment about how isolated a lot of the development for NPVR is. He does have a point.

I don't really know how we go about being more of a "community" when it comes to development - more shared plugins perhaps? (scb147 and I are working on one together; it's a start) - but one thing I did think of is perhaps it would be nice to have some sort of plugin manager, bringing all the plugins, skins, etc together in a single integrated tool, where the user could just tick boxes to say which ones they wanted, and it would pull them down from the web and install everything automatically.

Doing this would probably need some agreements between all the developers about the best way to manage/handle files, installs etc. Again, it might encourage a bit more interaction between everybody.

Thoughts?

  Volume OSD plugin for nPVR
Posted by: McBainUK - 2010-12-09, 11:41 AM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (27)

One thing that I missed after migrating to nPVR, was an on-screen volume display when watching TV. It was also a bit of a WAF killer.

So I decided created my own! Big Grin

Tested on Windows XP SP3 (32 bit), Windows 7 (32 and 64 bit) and with a number of keyboard volume buttons. Mainly used with a Hauppage 45 button remote control which has been configured to change the Windows system volume.

I assume nPVR will be blessed with a built-in volume OSD in the future but I've decided to share the plugin now, in the hope that others will find it useful in the meantime. Simply download from the wiki page and unzip to the nPVR data directory. A skin for the current default skin is included in the zip.

DON'T PANIC, is what I thought first. and second...

I have a auvitek tv stick, it came at one time with presto pvr, it did not install properly no disc.
So this looked, like an option.

It did not seem to want me to work it, in fact it would not close, I had to do a restart to kill it.

Anyone brave enough to explain this beast to me?

  Use visible="@selected" in CoversView
Posted by: Northpole - 2010-12-08, 08:00 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

Would like to request the ability to be able to use visible="selected" in the CoversView elements for music, pictures and videos .xmls similar to the IconView. Also wonder about using it in the main menu .xml for the menubutton element.

ie..

<RoundedRect visible="@selected" location="1,2" size="98,96" bah bah..."/>

Thanks.

"Attempted to read or write protected memory"
Posted by: ecac - 2010-12-08, 07:20 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (12)

Just installed NPVR today and having a few problems...

Installed NPVR (with no patches), fired it up, configured the decoders, devices etc, scanned for and found channels, etc.

Selected to watch live TV and successfully got a picture and sound. Hit escape to go back to the menu, then tried to go back to live TV and I get "unable to communicate with recording service".

NPVR.log shows:
Unexpected error calling StartStream(): System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.

Server stack trace:
at VariantClear(tagVARIANT* )
at Native.DigitalRecorderBase.GetCaptureFilter(IBaseFilter* pTunerFilter)
at Native.DigitalRecorderBase.BuildGraph(String deviceFilter, Int32 deviceInstance, Int32 commonInterface, Int32 commonInterfaceInstances, String& message)
Logs attached from this point.

If I quit, restart and try again, I get a message "Device failed to start" (secondgo.zip set of logs attached). Bouncing the NPVR service resets the issue back to the beginning.

Been a long time very happy GBPVR user on XP but on the new Windows 7 media PC I built I couldn't get it restarting from suspend or hibernate properly as it wouldn're restart/connect to the Nova-T (USB) device, so I've been using other things until NPVR became stable (couldn't wait any longer...). I'm keen to get back to the application I like!

Any help gratefully appreciated.

Cheers,
Ed

  John Lennon-30 years
Posted by: pcostanza - 2010-12-08, 12:56 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

30 years ago today John Lennon was murdered. Seems like it hasn't been but 10. I grew up on the Beatles and it was their first Ed Sullivan show on TV in 1964 (when I was only 6) that started me on my musical journey. The only reason I wanted to play guitar was The Beatles. Even today, when I jam with my mates, 70% of the songs we play are Beatles songs. Guess I should have moved on but while I enjoy a huge variety of music, I never tire of listening to the 'mop heads'. Just 'Imagine' if John and George were around today and it they were still playing. I bet they could whip the Stones you know what in iTunes sales. Heck, based on the latest iTunes numbers, they are. Big Grin

How to deal with someone stealing food?
Posted by: juozapasnanda - 2010-12-08, 06:42 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (73)

I live in the university dormitory. In the beginning of term I left a cake in the fridge and the next day I discovered it had been stolen. Recently, the thieving has intensified. Only last week someone stole my food three times. Some other students have had it even worse. Pizza, fruits, desserts, yoghurt and eggs have vanished from our fridge. What’s more, a cettle and a frying pan have also been stolen from the kitchen. Some senior students said it was the same thing a year ago, and they had no idea whether it was someone from the school or an outsider. This gets everyone annoyed to the max and the atmosphere between students is tense. Can anyone suggest anything that could be done?

MVP screens being cut off on 4:3 TV
Posted by: McBainUK - 2010-12-08, 06:28 AM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (2)

I'm using the mvpmc beta dongle with nPVR 1.5.33. The MVP is connected to an old 4:3 TV and so some of the picture is missing to the sides and most importantly the button list at the top of some screens.

It's been a while since I played with my MVP - can anyone remind me how I can set it to 4:3 or adjust the screensize somehow? Rolleyes

import of recurring events does not record imported events
Posted by: DHL - 2010-12-08, 01:52 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (11)

I created a recurring schedule within the interface and then exported it. Made some changes to the xml file (added new entries) added 1 to each new OID, cleared the recording schedule within the interface, then imported my modified xml file. The list does appear in the recurring recordings list, properly, but, the pending recordings list contains nothing. I cleared that recurring recording list. Created 3 new recurring recordings. Exported that list, cleared the schedule in the interface, then tried to import that unmodified xml file, and I get the same results. Recurring events appear in the recurring list, but nothing appears in the pending list. Also, if I double click on a recurring event, then try to update it, the only item that appears from that recurring event is the name I assigned to it, the station, start and stop times default to what appears to be the entry of a new manual recording.

Am I missing something when importing my xml file(s)?

Thanks!
