  Analog recording quality
Posted by: pcostanza - 2010-12-07, 11:27 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

A friend read where the HVR2250 can only record analog at a bitrate of 6000. I know I could record at 9000 in GBPVR but can't seem to beat 6000 in NVPR and don't see in the config where I can set this. I also recall someone asking about this but the search feature in this forum isn't something I would brag about but I did look for it.

Where in config.xml might I find this setting?

How do you reset a MVP? AKA factory reset
Posted by: systemshark - 2010-12-07, 09:04 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (8)

Hello.

I've run into an issue with my MVP device, I have stupidly set up with a prefered device/ip address. It's an wired unit rather than a wireless unit but I don't appear to be able to get into the setup menu.

Any suggestions please.

  Hauppauge HD-PVR on sale-$58

They don't seem to have the highest review ratings for thenerds.net so maybe keep that in mind if you order from them.

TV Recordings: Whats New Listing Not Updating
Posted by: BrettB - 2010-12-07, 05:04 AM - Forum: TV Listings - Replies (3)

I've noticed that the TV Recordings' Whats New list is not getting updated as recordings begin or complete. The Ready view seems to include the recording once it is completed though.

I'm using a PCH, if that matters. Also, exiting and re-entering NPVR doesn't seem to get them in the Whats New list either. But at some point they do show up because my list now includes shows that I recorded last night which didn't show up in the list yesterday. Maybe it is just not including shows recorded today?

Is there a list view in videos?
Posted by: Esteban - 2010-12-07, 02:13 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

If so, how do I toggle to list from the default icon view? Need to know for the keyboard and the NMT remote, if you would please.

installing os onto a usb external hdd then swapping??
Posted by: jam_zhou - 2010-12-06, 09:37 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (7)

So, I have a crazy idea!! I only have one htpc and it cannot have any real down time, so I thought of an idea of how to do a fresh install using the same machine with minimum down time:

I do a fresh install onto an external usb HDD bits at a time. For example:
Day 1 - install OS
Day 2 - install software
Day 3 - install codecs
Day 4 to 30 - tweak and test nightly
Day 31 - when I get everything ready, I just take out the old OS drive and put in the new OS drive.

I make sure I map the secondary data disk to the same drive letter and we should be good to go?

Can anyone see a flaw in this?

This can also be used as a "trial machine" in that I have to disks with the same install but one of them I do crazy things with like update windows and check the stability. Similar to imaging and re-imaging but somewhat different.

Recordings getting stuck after end time
Posted by: keith_leitch - 2010-12-06, 08:32 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I have a recording (logs attached) that continued for about 36 minutes after the end buffer. I had to reset the recording service to stop it. The recording itself looks to be a reasonable length, but the recording service was convinced that it was still in progress. The Slimm-GBPVR tray app (which reports details on recordings in progress) claimed that Shortland Street was recording, and would end in "-36 minutes".

This problem used to plague me, but I thought I'd found the solution about a year ago. I can't even remember what I did, now. I hope someone has a simple suggestion.

Some sad news. OrakelJos, an active member on the forums, and one of the pre-release testers, died on 29-11-2010 due to complications with cancer.

My condolences go out to his family.

Rest in peace.

  Live TV
Posted by: verdiverdi - 2010-12-06, 06:50 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

I' m using NPVR only to watch live tv.
In C:\Temp it always creates a file .ts. Is there a way to stop it from doing so?
