Multiple STB's - remote control issues
Posted by: SickBoy - 2010-11-05, 05:30 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (1)

I currently have two Scientific Atlanta STB's in my setup - both from Comcast. Anyone have any tips on keeping them both from responding to commands from the same remote? One of them is dedicated to my GBPVR machine (and uses firewire channel changing, has no need to respond to remote commands) and the other is independent, connected directly to the TV, and needs to be able to work with the remote.

I tried turning the dedicated box around so that the front panel doesn't face out - but it's still responding to the same commands issued by the remote. Would covering the front panel with electrical tape or some other insulator work? foil?

  New to NPVR
Posted by: Glynderi - 2010-11-05, 05:28 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (34)

Hi,

Just shifted to NPVR after real problems getting GBVRP working (see Banging head thread on GBPVR forum) and this is after years of good experience, but a wiped hard disk seems to have stopped GBPVR working properly.

Anyway, I've installed NPVR and can't really get it to work much. I running XP SP3 + all patches & the DirectX & other required patches listed on this forum.

I have 2 Hauppage Nova-T 90002 cards in the pc. I also have WinTV v6 from Hauppage and can watch any channel on that so I know my cards work & the aerial's fine.

My problems are:
1. No live TV.
2. Can't record
3. Channel 4 shows no programs after Sunday morning. Pain, as I want to record Time Team!

I'm used to posting logs for GBPVR, but have no idea if you can/should do the same for NPVR.

As always, any advice is gratefully received. Quite happy to be told I'm doing it all wrong! :o

Newbie again: another no clear QAM tuner? - Kworld UB435-Q
Posted by: dianedebuda - 2010-11-05, 01:31 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

Works fine OTA & "native" software finds QAM ok. Maybe same situation as Pinnacle 801e AKA PCTV HD Pro Stick that needed a patch?

Also, when I use (Live TV) full screen display (16x9), I get a black border on on edges. If I stretch the window, I can get a larger picture except for the window title bar. Any way to go borderless & use the whole screen? And it would be nice to be able to return from full screen by pressing Esc like many other programs do instead of having to Alt-Enter...

So many thanks.
Diane

Edit: Saw npvr.log was requested for other tuner, so here's mine.

  Wireless Keyboard Recommendations
Posted by: widman - 2010-11-05, 12:50 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (15)

I'm shopping around for a new wireless keyboard and would like to know what people are using on their systems. I'm looking something with a small form factor (i.e. no number pad) and integrated touchpad, trackball or thumbstick. I'd also like to keep it under $100.

Thanks,
pete

Client tries connecting to wrong IP
Posted by: dfdario - 2010-11-05, 07:42 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

I am pretty satisfied of my GPVR 1.4.7 client/server configuration and my wife is too.
Last week I installed NPVR on the server and gave it the access to one of my 4 tuners while the remaining three are still locked to GBPVR. As NPVR seemed working well I decided to install it also on one client and see how it performs.
Client has two networks WiFi for debug/VNC and wired for server connection.
At the kick off of NPVR because of the wired network was unplugged it tried to connect to the server through WiFi. With success indeed because of my DSL WiFi modem to which the server is connected too.
But, after I disconnected the WiFi network and plugged back the wired one I was surprised to see that NPVR now always tries to connect to server trough the WiFi net and not the wired.
Is there a way to change this misbehave?
Logs are attached. All into "NPVR.log.1" even a DirectX problem I have to solve...

  nPVR cpu load issue
Posted by: kansel - 2010-11-05, 07:23 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Hi Everybody
I have installed Npvr on my developer pc and found that when I start the nPVR application my cpu load rises to approx. 40% and it stays at that level no matter what part of the menu I enter. If I right click an select settings then the cpu load idles out, but as soon as I click OK from the settings then the cpu load rises to 40% untill I close nPVR. When doing a scheduled recording without the nPVR application running the cpu is only loaded around 10%! This issue keeps my computer from entering sleep mode and keeps it running hot => noice from the fans.
I tried to install on a different pc and unfortunately the same thing happend on that machine. Both machines are win7 Pro 32-bit with 4 gb ram and 3.0 GHz Intel Pentium®4

Logs attached

Any help will be greatly appreciated

  .mkv files and seek
Posted by: dspdrew - 2010-11-05, 05:46 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

I'm having a problem with npvr crashing when seeking while watching .mkv files. The logs I don't think show anything either because it looks like nothing gets written once it crashes.

First Recording of the night Fails to record sound and picture
Posted by: kirschey - 2010-11-05, 12:45 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Not sure what is going on, but the fist recording always fails to record sound and picture.

It happens tonight for the file: How I Met Your Mother_20101104_19302000.ts

I am not sure how long it has been going on for, but I am looking forward to when NPVR is wife-ready.

A side note, now it seems deleting a recording leaves a folder behind in the video library, not a big deal, but it did not used to do this.

No QAM Device found for DVICO Fusion HDTV5 Gold Tuner
Posted by: tjb - 2010-11-04, 11:15 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

Sub,

I am setting up Npvr on my son's PC and I gave him an old DVICO Fusion tuner that I had lying around. After installation, the device screen only shows the DVICO ATSC device but no QAM device. I found a thread from last June that reported a similar problem, and you posted a patch that was tested and apparently worked (nshared.dll) but that file is out of date, and if I try to use it Npvr errors out at startup. Any chance you could post an updated version of this patch if you get time?

  Detecting selection in UiList
Posted by: imilne - 2010-11-04, 10:20 PM - Forum: Developers - No Replies

Dumb question time...

I can detect the currently highlighted selection in a list using:

Code:
public override void SelectedItem(UiList.ListObject item)

but how to I detect when that item is actually activated, that is, dbl-clicked on/enter pressed, etc ?

Edit: Sigh. Don't know how I missed the ActivateItem method. I think the scrollbars in VisualStudio were hiding it :o
