Hauppauge to introduce an affordable USB attached, premium cable TV tuner for PCs and notebooks through its U.S. retail sales channel
Livermore, CA & Hauppauge, NY – Sept. 10, 2010 – Silicondust USA, Inc., based in Livermore, CA, today announced an alliance with Hauppauge Computer Works, Inc. to introduce a USB-connected Digital TV Tuner product for use with CableCARD™ conditional access. This product leverages Silicondust’s design and technology to offer a new addition to Hauppauge’s line of TV tuner products.
This introduction adds native support for premium cable TV to the Hauppauge line of WinTV® tuners. The new TV tuner is USB connected and will work with notebook and netbook computers, in addition to standard desktop PCs.
Concurrently Silicondust will be introducing HDHomeRun® PRIME™ an Ethernet attached TV tuner product with CableCARD conditional access. HDHomeRun PRIME enables premium cable TV to be accessed across the network from any computer in the home.
The Hauppauge USB and Silicondust Ethernet attached products introduce affordable solutions in the cable TV tuner market for PCs. Both devices support M-Card™ conditional access and conform to the OpenCable™, OCUR and DRI specifications. Both devices support Switched Digital Video (SDV) in conjunction with a cable-provider-supplied tuning adapter / resolver. The products are designed for use with PCs running Microsoft® Windows® 7 and Windows Media Center.
The Hauppauge USB and Silicondust HDHomeRun PRIME products will support high-definition and other digital cable TV, including premium cable channels, direct to the computer.

I tried something last night to see what would happen if I recorded 1 analog show in Media Center and 1 in NPVR with my HVr2250. The Media Center show recorded fine but I only got the folder created for the NVPR scheduled show.
I know this is not a Media Center forum but I am curious how NPVR handles tuners in this case. Was it a matter of MC possibly starting early before NPVR or that NPVR went to the first analog tuner, found it busy and stopped.
I've not tried this with digital as I have too many tuners to adjust and with multi-record, I'd never really know what happened. I don't normally do this but I must have been bored enough to try it.
Again, just a curiousity as to what should happen when sharing tuners system wide.

I recently upgraded from SD Dish Network to HD Directv which is MUCH BETTER! Anyway, I get 16:9 widescreen broadcasts.

All of my recordings are 720X480. I want GBPVR to record and save in a widescreen ratio. I assume this is accomplished by the "Analog HD Recording Plugin".

When I go to that to set it, the only option I have is "Hauppauge WinTV HD-PVR". Selecting this never works with my TV card which is a Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1800.

What do I need to do to record in widescreen? I don't want to hit F7 to fake it.

I have a technotrend C1500 and a C1501 DVB-C cards to sell. They're both PCI.

I get the NPVR menu ok on the PCH but no live TV and won't play video. Possibly the webserver? But using default settings andits not Windows firewall as turning that off doesn't make any difference. Attached the logs and syntax check.

I recently discovered, by accident, that I can record simultaneously on the analog port and the QAM port of this card. When I bought the card a year and a half ago, my research had told me I wouldn't be able to do this. Further research since this discovery seems to indicate that some early versions of the hardware, indeed, could not do this, but other versions can.

I stumbled on this when I had back-to-back recordings scheduled on different channels, and noticed that both resulting files had their respective programming in the padding overlap. However, nPVR wouldn't let me schedule simultaneous recordings until I removed the entries for WinTV 418 from the DeviceRules.xml.

Just thought I'd pass this on. Be careful, though, not to remove the DeviceRules entries until you are sure your card can do this.

I just trying to install nPVR 1.5.31 on my HTPC, but it is crashing after channel scan.

I can't get the EPG to update. I thought it might be a bad xmltv file but I moved one that is working on another box with npvr so I know the xmltv file is good. In the setup screen I pick channels and then update EPG. The box comes up and says Updating EPG Please Wait, then just dies. It never moves on to the box that says checking for xmltv file. I emptied and reinported the analog tuner and even moved the xmltv file to a new location and it all behaves the same. I also tried to update just the digital channels (only 4) and same thing. The log says EPG update tread starting and then Updating EPG, then nothing else

What is the best way to troubleshoot this? I am on the latest release. Data from mc2xml.

after startup of my htpc and first start of npvr, live tv works fine.
when i leave the live tv and reenter it, i get only a black screen.

nearly the same problem occures when i have scheduled two recordings.
