Using Hauppauge WinTV-CI with Terratec S2
Posted by: speedysam - 2010-08-08, 05:08 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (14)

Hi, due to a strange twist of fates I have a Terratec Cinergy S2 PCI HD capture card and a Hauppauge WinTV-CI USB adaptor.

I want to run GB-PVR on Win 7 with the above hardware, but GB-PVR never seems to 'fire-up' the CI module even when viewing live TV (the BDA drivers are installed, but don't show up when the PVR is running).

I saw some posts about a required DLL which is supplied with WinTV, but I can't install winTV to get the DLL since it refuses to install unless a Haupauge capture card is present.

Any ideas how I can make this work would be greatly appreciated!

QAM scan creates channels without a name
Posted by: vmq - 2010-08-08, 04:52 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

I just installed npvr 1.5.28 and found some issues with the QAM channel mapping. The scan did not assign channel names to the unencrypted channels, but it did to the encrypted channels. See picture below.

This makes mapping those channels to EPG information in *.xml files a little challenging. Wink See second picture below.

The Client wants to use the servers Recording Directory
Posted by: 7ore - 2010-08-08, 01:12 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

I have changed the recording Directory path for my server to B:\temp but my client still uses c:\temp.
When I start Live TV on the client I only get a "Live TV buffer directory does not exist: B:\temp" (or something similar).

Do I have to use the same folder path both on server and client?

  NPVR on Windows 2008 R2 64bit
Posted by: Paul_B - 2010-08-08, 11:17 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

I seem to have got NPVR working on Windows 2008 R2 64 bit; my satellite card is recognised, can run a scan identiy channels and I can successfully record the video. The recorded video can be watched on the W2K8R2 machine through Media Center and I can watch it from a client by accessing the recorded file direct.

However, the one thing that doesn't work is using NPVR to watch the recording nor will it present live TV. I'm assuming this is codec issue so which log can I look into to confirm and fix?

Many thanks

Paul

  Client/server detection
Posted by: imilne - 2010-08-08, 08:59 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (1)

Is there a recommended method for detecting whether nPVR is running in client or server mode, or is it ok to just look at Settings\Recording\ClientMode in the config file?

Waking for EPG even when 'none' selected.
Posted by: martint123 - 2010-08-08, 08:07 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

Not a biggie, just a report.

1.5.28 I noticed my test/user machine was up and running this morning after putting 1.5.28 on yesterday. (no hibernate/standby on this box).
Looking through Win7 logs showed that nrecord woke it up.
Settings has EPG update time shown as 'none' nrecord log shows:-

2010-08-07 11:17:19.487 [DEBUG][8] Requesting wake up for 'EPGWAKEUP' at 08/08/2010 03:00

confix.xml contains
<ScheduleWakeups>true</ScheduleWakeups>
<EPGUpdateHour>None</EPGUpdateHour>

I haven't noticed this with previous versions.

  Client / Server functionality problem
Posted by: ShiningDragon - 2010-08-08, 12:52 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

Hi sub!

nPVR is running configured on the server. nPVR is running in clientmode on a workstation. Pathes are doublechecked (i use the same, which i am using with GB-PVR atm). Firewall is disabled and machines are restarted.

Every time i try to start live tv from the client, i geht the message "unable to find capture device" on the client. The pointing to database is working. What could this be? The logs are really quiet about this and says nothing important / related.

Btw., i don't think that it is a good idea to put the nPVR data folder into the public one of windows 7. To get client / server mode working, i have to open the sharing for all public folders. Another problem is, that the entry \\hushpc\NPVR for the database could be misunderstanding. The path under windows 7 is \\<server\users\public\NPVR (and that is why i dislike the placement of this data into this folder. i can not control the sharing only for this folder.)
And the 2nd problem is currently, if someone mistypes this path and nPVR (client) will not find the database of the server, then the only option to "repair" this is to open the config.xml file and put the path inside. If you try to change the path after this error within the client nPVR, then the setting will NOT be saved (it's using no database). This should at least changed, so that after an error like not finding the server database, the local one will be used.

Can a Mygica X8550A get HD over component connection?
Posted by: ElihuRozen - 2010-08-07, 09:33 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (1)

I just purchased a Mygica X8550A tuner card. See a description here: http://www.meritline.com/mygica-x8550a-p...36181.aspx (I got mine off Ebay, but it's the same.) It has component connections in addition to a QAM/ATSC tuner. Is there any way I can get an HD signal from my STB using the component connectors with either GBPVR or NPVR? I think I can't with GBPVR, but I was hoping I would be able to with NPVR if I installed that.

Thanks

  New client issues
Posted by: soccerdad - 2010-08-07, 08:28 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

I set up my W7 laptop as a npvr client. I can get the guide off the server but cant do much else. When I try live tv it hangs for a while then I get a black screen. Same with trying to view a recording. The logs are attached for the recording viewing. I can view the file from VLC so the share should be OK. All my recordings are on the D drive of the server if that makes any difference. I was able to schedule a recording from the client and see it pending on the server.

  FM Radio
Posted by: pcostanza - 2010-08-07, 07:21 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

When trying FM radio, I only hear a sound for a split second then nothing. The temp file shows radio is continuing as it grows. Status shows the analog tuner playing radio. There are no other sound problems that I am having.
Logs attached.
