Most stations are transmitting DD encoded sound in my area. I can verify this by viewing the signals directly on my LG TV connected directly on the antenna and seeing the DD logo on the channel info.  My audio receiver also automatically enters the digital Dolby mode when audio is streamed to it by the optical tv output.

On the other hand I also have a Hauppauge dual HD atsc 1.0 tuner stick attached to a PC running Windows 10 and nextpvr.  It in turn is attached to the same tv using an HDMI cable on hdmi1.  The Hauppauge specs say the device outputs AC3 sound which I understand is digital dolby... So I am expecting the audio receiver to pick this up and enter digital Dolby mode... Instead I get stereo audio.

What am I misunderstanding? Or missing? Hints appreciated. I loaded the Hauppauge "drivers only" package for the tuner stick and am using the latest Windows version of nextpvr.

Should I abandon this if it's easier and switch to a silicon dust 4k tuner, as my receiver can also decode Dolby Atmos?  There are at least 4 atsc3 channels nearby which is not a lot to justify the extra expense when I get 40 atsc 1 channels.

Thanks for any advice to set me straight on the sound out of the Hauppauge stick.

I am using a Hauppauge WinTV-dualHD on a Kubuntu 22.04 machine. I installed with the debian package and software appears to run smooth. At least right to that moment, where I want to scan for channels. I am using the ch-Bern-upc-cablecom setting, which should match. The values in the file correspond to the values given by UPC. I can click "Scan Channels" and I get a few service channels, but I do not get any of the TV stations. The log shows the lines included at the end.
The sameWinTV stick on a Windows machine does find all channels, unfortunately leaving it there is not a solution, and I understood that the files are not compatible. Is there something I can do to make NextPVR search thorougher?

Some, but not all, of my IPTV channels give the following error when trying to record; "The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect : R:\Tournament of"      (that's all the text I see as part of the error description)
The same show/channel will play fine if I just want to watch it.

The filename after the "R:\" changes, depending on the name of the recording. "R" is the label on my recording drive.
The folder "Tournament of Champions" is created, as well as the subdirectory "Season 2", but no file is recorded.

i recognise an EPG update problem at a friend of mine, who uses nextpvr via DVB-S in germany.

Following situation:

Some stations have EPG for a long time in the future (14 days). The current few days are filled with detailed information, from day 6 - 14 only basic inforamtion is provided.

Now to the problem:

NPVR does an EPG scan every night (default), but it does not update the additional information that is added to the show as the time comes closer. This problem always exists. So on these channels, you only have basic info, because detailed info is never loaded via update.

If i delete the EPG info, and do a rescan, all EPG detail is visibible. Then it takes a few days -> same problem again, bacause the original basic info (only title) is not updated with the detail information.

It would be very nice, if this could be fixed in the future, so that if detailed infos gets available, if it broadcasted.

I am running NextPVR in a Docker container on my Qnap NAS.  There are no problems.

How often does NextPVR update? 

How do I find out what version I am running, and what the latest version is?

If I decide to update, do I just search the Docker Hub and choose install?  Or do I need to remove the old container first, and start over?

Hi all, I jumped through a lot of forums, but putting it all together came up with one solution to using npvr on windows 11 with NO DEVICES showing up while trying to setup npvr. I had reinstalled npvr multiple times with no luck. Then I read about a user in Australia having the same trouble. Well, it seems that the best way to get results expected, is to TOTALLY uninstall the hdhr software, then install it again from the SiliconDust site. Do NOT use the app from the Windows Store. Once I did that, ran npvr setup again and THEN under the Devices tab in npvr, all my hdhr tuners showed up, and was able to complete the setup successfully. Hope this helps someone that gets stuck. New install here, on an HP EliteDesk800 (i5-6500T), and nextPVR is functioning, but I'm seeing some strange behavior during playback with the pc-based client.

- Sometimes skipping either by clicking on the progress bar or on the >> key works as expected. Other times, the playback will pause for as long as 30 seconds before resuming. 

- While watching in a small window, playback behaves properly. But if I stretch the window to either most of the screen or select full-screen, I see pretty severe pixelation, freezing, and tearing. I updated to the latest Intel video drivers, but no change.

I've attached a log file, though it will show lots of mixed activities as I troubleshot. I can provide a more concise log showing the problem events if needed.

Where should I go from here?

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if the TBS6909 satellite card works with NextPVR on Linux? 

I had hoped to use NextPVR with the TBS6909 on TrueNAS Scale but from what I have read on here, and on the TureNAS forum, that looks unlikely at the moment. So I am thinking of using Ubuntu Server.

It seems from the TBS forum that people tend to use it with TVheadend but I am used to NextPVR so would prefer to use it.

I recently added a second usb tuner with separate antenna to optimize the signal for a few hard to tune channels on my main antenna. When I record on my main tuner and try to watch on the second tuner, I get a message that the second tuner cannot be found. I am however able to watch the second tuner channels if I don’t watch/record on the main tuner. Logs are attached - time of issue is around 17:20 on 2/16.
