That is, not just assuming that everybody watches shows all together at the same time...?

I just thought that you might not see it there if you're looking for discussions about suggested features. But I posted it there because it's so integral to the core, that it's probably more appropriate for consideration in a new version.
I'm wondering if it's a good time to suggest this, before things get too locked down with NVR (if it hasn't already) and released for plugin developers.
Here's the scenario...
There are a number of us in the household, and we don't all watch the same thing at the same time. So how to keep track of who's watched what, and when is it OK to delete something? Or say you're on your own and want to watch a show that your partner has already watched, so that when you're together there's more shows to choose from that neither of you has seen before. How do you know what she has seen already? And say a few of you sit down to choose a movie that none of you has seen, how do you filter out those that anyone has?
The larger the collection, the bigger an issue this becomes.
The problem with all PVR software is that currently, none of them (AFAIK) solve these problems?
What's the chances of NPVR being the first? :eek:
And since this kind of information is applicable to every media item, and all plugin developers should have access to that info, it would be best if it was built into the core of the program. I don't think it's something you could add via a plugin, unless you only wanted it to only apply to say a "Videos" module.
The way I'd imagine it would work would be something like this:
On all screens...
Pressing a certain key brings up a menu of possible watchers. Navigate and hit OK to toggle anyone on/off as a "current watcher". There are also buttons giving you the ability to add/edit/delete possible watchers. Hit Back to remove this login screen.
Somewhere discrete (bottom or top) is a row of icons/coloured boxes/dingbats that indicate who is currently "logged in", or watching. By default all icons are in their highlight state, which means that the view is filtered to show shows not seen, or half-seen, by that person(s).
You can navigate to that row of icons and toggle the filter state for each person - thru watched>half-watched>not watched.
The login/filter/logoff mechanics of a person could be simplified by assigning a custom button for each person. Say the red/yellow/blue/green buttons on an MCE remote were assigned to each of 4 people, press the button cycles thru the logon/filter watched/filter half-watched/logoff states. (With icons in corresponding colors even?)
In any screen, whatever the filter might be, whenever the text of media titles appear, the title is preceded by a row of icons representing the people whom have watched this show. The icon could be half-height if not all the show has been watched by that person.
Whenever a show is watched, the database is updated according to who's watching.
Some other key toggles the whole WhosWatchedWhat system on/off.

And it's soooo useful. So useful in fact that because it's not there, I don't use a PVR for playing media - only watching TV. It would be great if I could abandon my basic "putting initials in the comments field of media files" in Xplorer to track who's watched what!
We were watching the MLB All-Star game tonight when a recording started on another channel at 6:30pm. Rather than pick the other tuner, the recording service stole the tuner we were using and the picture froze. I was able to simply exit back to the TV Guide and restart live tv. This is at least the second time I've seen this happen. Logs attached.
Yes, I do have all the same channels enabled on both tuners, there's no reason it couldn't have used the other tuner for the recording.
If this intelligence is just something you've not implemented yet, no problem. Just wanted to report it in case it's supposed to be smarter than this.
When the recording service automatically deletes a recorded episode of a season recording because of the # to keep setting, it deletes the recording from the database but doesn't actually delete the file. Is this a bug or a permissions issue?
A trivial problem, but I guess a beta test should have everything reported ??
While giving n-pvr a good thrashing and channel surfing DVB-S, I noticed a few blank screens. Further investigation determined that these were encrypted channels that were not getting picked up by the scanning process at setup.
The logs show a scan of one transponder where the channel "motors" is encrypted, but the scan doesn't flag it as such. I had a check with dvbviewer and it flags it as encrypted.
I have also enclosed in the zip a copy of a older gbpvr scan of the same channel.
Every time I try to record two shows at the same time, Nprv seems to crash and generates a crash.mdmp file. Single recordings seem to work okay. I have included the logs and dump file in case this helps.
When I tried to install this I got 2# errors.

I just finished setting up a second GB-PVR box for use in my bedroom. I have this new box setup to map my multimedia drive from my main GB-PVR box. Both boxes use GB-PVR on WinXP Pro and start GB-PVR immediately on boot.
For some reason I'm having trouble seeing the files on the mapped network drive. I don't know why but after a fresh boot GB-PVR doesn't see the network drive at all, even though it is mapped and accessible to Windows. If I exit out of the program, open the folder in windows, then go back into GB-PVR I can see all my files fine (I'm using identical login credentials on both machines so passwords aren't the issue). For some reason I need to open the folder in windows before GB-PVR can see any of the files.
As a work around I make a BAT file that waits 25 seconds (enough time for GB-PVR to load), then accesses the folder as a minimized window. This does allow GB-PVR to see the files but it seems sloppy and leaves an open window in the background.
Is there any other way this issue can be resolved? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Apologies in advance if this has been asked before - or covered elsewhere.
Has anyone been able to test TVListings on nPVR and confirm it works ok? We rely on the TVListings (and its TV Recordings partner) addin for GBPVR and would love this facility to be available for nPVR before we make the move.
If it doesnt work for nPVR - are there plans to get a nPVR version of it?
