NPVR 1.5.x testing with the NMTs
Posted by: mvallevand - 2010-06-16, 03:16 AM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (18)

Attached is a copy of mvpmcx2 designed to run with both NPVR and 1.4.7. Unfortunately sub ignored my requests to make a change that would have helped mvpmcx2 auto detect the version so you will need a to add a command line option --em-npvr to use NPVR. Any firewall rules will need to be changed too, you now need to allow NextPVR.exe and the NRecord.exe through the firewall.

Overall IMO NMT support is not ready to use as a primary client, but considering this is an early beta version sub has done a really good job of keeping NPVR's functionality and thing look good for the future. By far the biggest weaknesses come in video playback, the correct location in the file is not being used to calculate the internal timeline so navigation including seeking by time, resume and com skip can be questionable, (sh*tty).

Other than that, I have a continuing problem with files and livetv restarting. LiveTV processing has changed and I miss some of the features of 1.4.7 (programmed view) and being able to save LiveTV. Hopefully these will come before the beta is over since that will probably keep me on 1.4.7

The OSD alpha over video need to be corrected, what you are seeing know is a hack turned on with this command line. Unfortunately NPVR has not improved the OSD flicker problem, if anything right now it is worse the OSD seems to be sent more times than before. Sub mentioned at one time he might be able to do incremental updates, my fingers are crossed.

There's also a minor annoyance where the screen will go blank after video or when a screen saver comes off, just hit a remote key, it usually won't be frozen.

If you have any comments let me know. Basically mvpmcx2 has not changed, we are waiting for sub to finish NPVR

Also Don't forget to update the <MVP> section of config.xml with your <MAC-> section from
GBPVR's config.xml

(Edit file removed this is an obsolete message)

  QAM scanning
Posted by: soccerdad - 2010-06-15, 11:36 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (15)

I have an hvr-1800 and am trying to scan for QAM channels. I tried editing down the QAM file so it only scans a few frequencies, but it will only scan the default ATSC channels. How do I get it to scan my QAM set? I am now on my Vista machine since I had such good luck on my test machineSmile

Sub, are you really fond of the name "NPVR"?
Posted by: toboR - 2010-06-15, 08:03 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (48)

It just seems to me that a creative endeavour like the one you've undertaken should have a more creative (and catchy) name.

I don't have any suggestions myself, but there have got to be some other acronyms that trip off the tongue more eloquently.Rolleyes

  1.4.7 and Hauppauge 250 getting 0Kb files
Posted by: hi218 - 2010-06-15, 05:57 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I just installed version 1.4.7 after not using my Hauppauge 250 card for a long time.. I think I've set up the card correctly.. I installed the latest drivers and installed gbpvr 1.4.7. I'm able to see live TV, so the channels are loaded correctly, though when I record a show as a test, either by programming the show to record or by doing quick record, I get a 0Kb file. The machine appears to have some kind of activity going on, but nothing gets recorded.

I read another thread that said it could be a firewall issue, so I disabled my firewall entirely for testing and still get a 0Kb file.

The 250 card has an onboard encoder so I wouldn't think this is a codec issue but I can't think of any other reason why it wouldn't be working. I'm on Cablevision cable service (east coast USA), using XP Pro SvPk 3. The last version of gbpvr I used was 0.9516 and it worked properly (same Hauppauge 250 card)...

I'm attaching a bunch of logfiles.. You'll see that I initially tried recording a world cup match but then when it wouldn't record I started making adjustments to the config and trying random other channels doing Quick Record and canceling after a few minutes just to see if anything was actually recording.. No matter what changes I make nothing gets recorded..

Anyone using a Hauppauge 250 card with gbpvr 1.4.7? Any suggestions on what part of my config would be causing me to get 0Kb files?

Playback-- no mouse!, can't pause, skip, stop via mouse
Posted by: james_dk - 2010-06-15, 03:45 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (2)

moving mouse shows the time-line, description, and the "back", rewind" "ffwd", "pause" "play" and "stop". However that's it. Must use keyboard to exit.

Was running v1.3.11, installed V1.4.7 no change. Was fine till just recently.
Windows XP mediacenter 2002, SP3 latest updates.

Can't play Live TV because no tuners currently active (comcast digital migration) so can't say if it works there.
