N-PVR and newer NMTs -- where do I go from here?
Posted by: htewam - 2010-06-17, 07:17 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (9)

So I'm having a bit of a hard time figuring out the long range view/use model for N-PVR and remote TVs.

I originally had GBPVR + Hauppage analog capture and played this back to 2 different tvs using MVPs. This worked GREAT for several years until the "digital age" caught up and passed me by :-) With my current Comcast clear QAM channels, GBPVR does a great job of recording the .ts files but I really had to work to get the transcode from .ts to .mpg to work for my MVPs. I've never been entirely satisfied with the resulting file (can be choppy at times) and skipping forward/back is problematic at best. I find that I still have a better experience recording the limited analog channels that we still get rather than dealing with the transcode issues from the clear QAM conversions.

With N-PVR and the availability of new NMTs (e.g C-200), I'm trying to scope what my "next-gen" configuration should be. I'm upgrading my recording PC, capture cards, software, and adding a couple of HD TVs.

If I read the posts correctly, the newer NMTs don't lend themselves to running something like MVPMCX2. Is the future expectation to use N-PVR only to RECORD and then use the native NMT user interfaces for PLAYBACK? How does N-PVR fit into the total landscape? While I'm sure a lot of different answers could be cobbled together, I was just wondering if there was a "model" that was being recommended or being worked towards.

Problem tuning analogue from PVR150 and .net exception.
Posted by: martint123 - 2010-06-17, 05:33 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

I thought I'd start analogue and let the digital side settle down first Smile but...

I get an exception during setup and snow on teh screen when watching. Steps taken:-

setting, devices, analogue PVR USB2 AVS, device setup, add
number = 22 (I'm guessing this is the channel number ???
name=bbc2
source=tuner.
OK, OK - the second OK gives the exception. I cant find a crash file anywhere, JIT text in the zip.
Press continue.
TVGuide - this displays oddly due to the small (1) number of channels (screendump attached).
selecting the channel shows a snowy picture and the log looks like it is picking channel 0.
Am I putting the channel number on the wrong place?

thanks for your time.

Unable to find Capture filter's video output pin
Posted by: Granddad - 2010-06-17, 05:16 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (39)

I get this Error message when I try to use an analog Hauppauge PVR 250. There doesn't appear to be an entry in AnalogDevices.xml for this card so I tried adding one, but I'm not sure what to put.

In the Nrecord log I get these errors:
2010-06-17 17:39:28.180 [ERROR][6] ConnectFilters:Failed(2)
2010-06-17 17:39:28.181 [ERROR][6] Failed to build analog graph. Reason: Unable to find capture filter's video output pin
2010-06-17 17:39:28.183 [ERROR][6] Error fixing FPU: System.DllNotFoundException: Unable to load DLL 'msvcr70.dll': The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E)
at NShared.FloatingPointControl._controlfp(Int32 n, Int32 mask)
at NShared.FloatingPointControl.FixFPU()

I read in another post that missing mscr70.dll is not likely to be a problem, so I haven't tried to add it. I have also installed WinTV7
This machile also has an Hauppauge Nova T 500, which works great using NPVR

Any ideas?

  Hauppauge 1600 Digital pixelation
Posted by: ydekmekji - 2010-06-17, 03:57 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

I have a Hauppauge 1600. On the digital side, I have the following issue:

Record Show #1
Record Show #2 on same channel

Show #1 is highly pixelated and not really viewable
Show #2 is great.

Same channel, same card (I only have one digital card).

Thoughts?

FYI : Show #1 today was the Argentina South Korea game which i couldn't view because of how bad it was pixelated.

  NPVR Stable

Is the new NPVR considered stable enough for constant, normal use, or should we use GBPVR until NPVR is out of Beta?

I'm clean installing Windows 7, and I have the installation and setup of GBPVR down cold. I can't seem to find any instructions for setting up NPVR.

Is setting NPVR up similar than setting up GBPVR?

  Pause/resume
Posted by: griffy - 2010-06-17, 08:17 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

Just a quick note, when I pause TV or files they don't continue/restart when I press play or pause again. I have to press skip/ffwd to get the video playing again. I tend to pause TV then skip adverts, then hit play again.

  XRECORD for NPVR?
Posted by: jksmurf - 2010-06-17, 05:36 AM - Forum: XSuite (Xrecord, XSearch, XGuide, CDK Scheduler) - Replies (15)

fla

I guess a lot of the plugin Devs will be asked this, but as Xrecord has been my favourite daily-use plugin since I first discovered GBPVR several years ago, is it likely (hopeful :-)) to be ported to NPV?

Can't get Multidec and MDplugins to work
Posted by: 7ore - 2010-06-17, 03:16 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (29)

I have a dvb-t and I can see the free channels, but not the rest.
Am I missing something obvious here?

* It does work in Gbpvr.
* The ffdecsa.dll is placed in "program files (x86)\NPVR"
* I have copied the content in "..gbpvr\MDplugins" (acamd) to c:\users\public\MDplugins\[card] folder (except mdapifilter.ax).
* The device is set to Multidec.

But the screen stays black and there is no connection with the server at all.
The recording log have a lot of epg info but nothing that is different from the working channels.

What have I missed?

Last, little on the side, I have two small cosmetic bugs to report.
* The progress popup-dialog for scanning dvb-t is not adapted for large dpi.
* When you start to scan, the OK button is enabled and work as Cancel.
