Recording attempting to use a non-mapped source for channel and failing.
Posted by: daveid - 2010-04-22, 01:08 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (12)

I am in a little trouble here, the main show my wife cares about me recording for her is America's Next Top Model. The last two weeks it has failed, after scrounging through my logs I have come to the conclusion that it is because it is attempting to start the recording on my 2250 as opposed to the ATI550 that it should be using. This line in my pending.log gives me that clue:
[HTML]3392 America's Next Top Model 4/21/2010 8:00:00 PM - 4/21/2010 9:00:00 PM capture-source:5 tuning:0[/HTML]
where it should be something like:
[HTML]3540 It's Me or the Dog 5/1/2010 8:00:00 PM - 5/1/2010 9:00:00 PM capture-source:1 tuning:40[/HTML]

Last week when this occurred, I removed and recreated all of my capture sources (painful), thinking it was an old reference causing this. But, it happened again today. And, I am certain to be in trouble again for not capturing her show.

I am at a loss as to what to do. A few things to note, I have a show recording on the 2250 leading up to A.T.M. (Family Guy, I record both Simpsons & Family Guy episodes from 6-8PM). Her show starts at 8PM, and is recorded off my analog line.

For now, I canceled the Family Guy recording, hoping that will solve it.

I am attaching my logs (besides pending - it is huge), in hopes that someone can use them to help me out here.

Looking in the recording service log I see this repeating:

Code:
2010-04-21 19:58:00.109 VERBOSE [5] BDARecordingSource about to start multi-record oid:5 channel: file:F:\working\Americas Next Top Model_20100421_20002100.ts 2010-04-21 19:58:00.234 ERROR [5] Caught unexpected exception: System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: Length cannot be less than zero. Parameter name: length at System.String.InternalSubStringWithChecks(Int32 startIndex, Int32 length, Boolean fAlwaysCopy) at GBPVR.Backend.Common.BDARecordingSource.StartMultiRecord(String filename, ChannelTuning channelTuning) at GBPVR.RecordingService.x93f60a55016d55c4.xcba1f05fb5a46d5f() 2010-04-21 19:58:00.437 ERROR [5] Unexpected error checking tuning on back-to-back multirecords

Please help...

Thank you.

FreeviewHD NZ - CSI this week
Posted by: JonnyCam - 2010-04-21, 11:59 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

Did anyone record CSI from FV HD NZ this week (enough acronyms?)

I recorded it and went to watch last night, and it seemed awfully quiet - all of the surrounds were working as expected. AC3 filter was passing through to my amp, but I had no voices.

When I turned passthrough off, ac3 filter showed no movement on the center channel at all (all LFE, L, R, surrounds looked as usual)
I tried playing with ffdshow instead, same thing.

Tried on the popcorn hour (downmix to stereo as it's on a different TV) and got no voices.

I guess what I am asking is did anyone else experience this on their recording? I can't understand how that could happen, no corruption etc in the recording and all the surround sounded great.

Win 7 activation or reinstall questions
Posted by: Torque - 2010-04-21, 08:15 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (5)

Well, I messed up big time with installing Windows 7. I bought the Family 3 pack of Home Premium upgrade. When I was installing 7 on my PVR, the C: partition was too small to install it (8GB) and delete partition wasn't an option. So I booted off my XP disc and deleted all the partitions. Started Win7 setup and it got to the point of typing in the CD Key and wou;dn't accept it, said it was invalid without any explanation except for an error code (I should have looked that SOB up). I remembered that I could just bypass entering the key for now and activate it later online within 30 days.

Well, just tried to activate it and still get invalid key, but it actually tells me what the problem is now (surprise!)

"You're using a product key for an upgrade version of Windows 7 and a previous version of Windows wasn't on your computer when Windows 7 was installed."

Thanks alot Microsoft...

Looked up this issue online and see:

"If you formatted the drive before starting the installation process, you won't be able to use the upgrade product key to activate Windows 7. To activate Windows 7, you'll need to install your previous version of Windows, and then reinstall Windows 7."

Great.... I just got everything f-ing working and now i gotta start over?! I REALLY don't want to go thru the torture of setting up my QAM channels and getting the guide to look perfect again... with multiple lineups and different capture sources, it was a serious pain in the ass.

So... does anyone know a way around this Win 7 activation issue? If i do have to reinstall 7, can i backup the entire Devnz directory, reinstall GB-PVR, then stop the recording service and copy in my backup and be back up and running exactly as it is now?

  Auto start in TV Listings?
Posted by: gonzo90017 - 2010-04-21, 07:40 PM - Forum: TV Listings - Replies (4)

I know this can be accomplished using the default TV Guide that GBPVR comes with. But I was wondering if this can also be done using TV Listings? If not consider it a feature request. Big Grin

Any provision of auto shutdown after recording?
Posted by: seymoria - 2010-04-21, 09:01 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (15)

Hi.

I would like to know if GBPVR has some provision of automatic shut down of the computer after a scheduled recording has been completed. If yes, where can this time be set?

Thank you.

It seems ever since the forum interface changed I have trouble accessing the forum web page.
I I consistently get a timeout error and must press the "try again" button several times before the page finally loads. Anyone else experiencing problems accessing the forum site? If so have you found a solution?

Thank you in advance,

Kevin

  Recording Quality of AVI conversions.
Posted by: HYBRiD.BLiNG - 2010-04-21, 01:55 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I would like to know if I can increase the quality of the AVI output file. I know that in the records menu it has a low, medium, and high quality option but I also saw the custom 1 and custom 2 options ? I was wonder if I can tweak my recordings for slightly better quality than high. I am using analog and my codecs are in Xvid format with a output in avi.

Problem with no QAM on Hauppauge 1800
Posted by: ElihuRozen - 2010-04-21, 12:28 AM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

A while back, I posted about my troubles getting QAM to work after Comcast moved the channels. After much testing, I realized that my 1600 worked if I bypassed the signal amplifier & that my 1800 just wouldn't do QAM. It works for OTA, so I know the digital tuner is working.

Today, I finally entered a support issue on Haupauge's web site. I've heard they sometimes aren't really helpful. Therefore, I decided to do some more investigating myself. I ran FilterCheck & noticed some differences between the 1600 & the 1800. Not really understanding what the differences mean, I decided to post here & hope someone could explain to me if they indicated a problem while I wait to hear back from Hauppauge. I attached the FilterCheck.log to this, but I will highlight the differences here (I'm almost positive that 418 refers to the 1600 & 885 refers to the 1800):

  Manual Scan Not Working?
Posted by: fausto - 2010-04-20, 08:57 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (19)

GBPVR 1.4.7 on WIndows XP

I've just changed over from Astra to Hotbird. Foolishly, did a rescan and found lots of channels, none of which I want. Then did a manual scan of 11766V to try to get RAI 1,2 and 3 FTA versions - all I get is the Widows hourglass and the scan never completes.

What am I doing wrong? How do I delete all the channels I don't want?
