Problem scrolling with keyboard in TV Guide - exits back to Main Menu
Posted by: jokerwithin - 2010-04-18, 08:58 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

Using default TV Guide and a keyboard to navigate the epg listings.
After scrolling through a few pages of listings, the screen jumps back to the Main Menu without warning.

Tried redownloading (empty & reload, force reload, delete & reload) my epg xml file, to no avail. tried loading 3rd party listing view.. same behavior.

This makes it difficult to see the listings beyond a few hours or days ahead.

any idea what's going on?

thanks.

  STB channel changing using firewire
Posted by: pvrnewb - 2010-04-18, 08:20 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

I am pretty sure I know the answer to this but here goes.

I have a couple of comcast (motorola) STB's and want to control the channel changing (for recording) over firewire. So far I have browsed the forums and found 4 options.

1) Low tech - use IR blaster
Using the IR blaster is not an option as I see it as it will change both STB's at the same time which defeat the purpose of having multiple stb's for recording multiple shows.

2) USB UIRT
Haven't found that in any stores, and I hate byuing something without the option of returning it if it doesn't work.

3) FireSTB/Channel.exe
This program seems outdated and seems to only work on XP. Since I am on win 2k (yes I know "outdated") then I can't use it. Several people across several forums has had problems with this on windows 7 so updating the OS may not solve the issue.

4) GraphEdit
I have noticed several posts on this plugin, however using this plugin for channel chaning is like hunting quails with an atom bomb. Overkill en masse.

I am hoping someone has a simple alternative to the above. I really find it hard to believe that it would be that difficult to change the channel on an STB using firewire.

Thanks

  Work with SLICK skin?

I stopped using the Weather plugin when the slick skin first came out, or rather could not get the Weather plugin to work in slick.
Have searched, but cannot find any posts stating what skins Weather works with.

Problems with vista blasting codes + request and offer
Posted by: bigstusexy - 2010-04-18, 04:05 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Note: I know this thread is long so in short, I can get PVRx2 to blast just fine but not the service, service logs on as me. I'm also offering a clean profile to be added to the project or anyone that wants it.

Hello! I'm having issues and I'm very excited as well.

I have just made a media box with Vista Ultimate and I moved all my stuff from XP, GBPvr was a move/upgrade from xp by copying over my database and config file. It seemed to retain everything and I have modified what needs to be. This is not the issue.

Before I get to the issue I'd like give something, I will attach the dat file I have made for my box, whats different about this profile is that it is not a learned profile. I saw that the codes for the Uirt are pronto hex so I took my hex file and made a file of my own. The advantage is that its a heck of a lot more accurate and it is what the remote sends. I made the hex file via help of people at remotecentral.com to learn what maker, model, family etc the remote is then generate the pronto hex. When I use these codes instead of learned codes there are no stability issues. The box is for U-verse the VIP 1200 boxes, so far the services only has one remote for all its boxes.

The issue is that no matter what I use I can't get the serivce to blast codes. I have been using hipsend for a couple of years now to do it and I went though a few hellish days trying to get hip to blast to my MCE box via the originoal driver or the replacment, neither worked. Then I wen though a bad night trying to get hip to consistantly send from my USB Uirt to my box, this is where I began testing GBPvr's sending in vista.

I discovered that hipsend was working in Pvrx2 but not by the serive. I searched here and I was (am) trying to get net2hipsend to work when I saw that there are more internal plugins. I switched to the internal USB Uirt plugin and it works again in Pvrx2 but not the serivce

I have a question and a request. As i could make my own Uirt profile because its pronto hex is there a way to convert the pronto hex into the format of the MCE profiles?

My request is for a feature of the internal blaster to send a command before the channel with a configurable delay. The U-Verse boxes are an IPTV box and to stop a drain on the network they shut off the boxes after 8 hours of sitting. So I need to blast a command before sending channels to make sure its on, however somtimes if you blast on then channel change too quickly the boxes get dumb and go back to the sleep screen.

config Please note
UAC is tured now (if you use a PVR 350 or any hauppauge Mpeg2 PVR and your recordings are nutty huge and don't function just give up and turn UAC off) So there is no virtualstore to worry about or permissions.

GBPVR Recording Service is running as my account which is administrator, so defautly it can access the desktop and has all my rights.

GBPvr is installed in to program files but that shouldn't be an issue with UAC off.

Support info
GBPvr version: 1.4.7
OS: Windows Vista Ultimate (UAC off)
Plugin: No plugins besides the default.

  Using UsbUirtSend.exe with GBPVR
Posted by: hexibot43 - 2010-04-18, 02:56 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I am having the problem that after a recording from a stb that I am using the usb-uirt on for channel changes I loose it. It works the first time, and then promptly fails to change channels there after. The usbuirt works fine for controlling PVRX2. I just loose control of the stb channel changes. I was using the usb-uirt plugin, and read where someone had switched to usbuirtsend.exe for channel changes and that fixed the problem. I am attempting to do so but am running into usbuirtsend.exe crashing out. I am guess that my dat file is probably the issue but would like some input.

It took me several times scanning the ir codes to get them all. I ended up putting three files together to get it right. I copied and pasted the good parts of one file into the damaged of another until I had one undamaged file. It will now change channels beautifully using the usb-uirt plugin until I do a recording. Now I bet this is where the problem lies. I don't have a ".dat" file but a ".txt" file. I don't think usbuirtsend.exe likes this. Is there an easy way to properly convert a text file into a dat file. I tried simply renaming it, to get a .dat file. Like you would to create a .bat file. But usbuirt.exe crashes using this file. Or is there something where I have to be running usbuirt.exe from a specific folder?

That is the file I'm using which is a .txt file renamed to a .dat file.

I created a directory "c:\usbuirtsend". Put my dat file in it, and a copy of usbuirtsend. I have tried to run it from the command line and get the same issue. So I know it is something with the parameters I'm passing or perhaps a file that I need in the same directory that I am missing.

[INDENT]usbuirtsend "c:\usbuirtsend\stb.dat" 135/INDENT]

That is the how I am trying to use the command. I get windows has encountered an error, and had to close the program.

** Ok confirmed it is my defition file that is causing the issue. I used one of the canned .dat files and it works, just not with my stb. So how to create a proper dat file???

Any ideas????

Thx, Mab

Recording Conflict When There Should be None.....I think
Posted by: UncleJohnsBand - 2010-04-17, 11:59 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I added another HDHRun to help get rid of a few conflicts that have arisen in the recording schedule over the past few weeks.

I deleted my season recordings for CSI, Private Practice, 30 Rock, Fringe and The office. These all run from 9:00-10:00.

Mapping the shows to their channel and pid (i think) I get the following breakdown:

71-1622 Private Practice
71-1630 The Office, 30 Rock
72-1624 CSI
73-1626 Fringe

I scheduled Fringe - A-ok
I scheduled CSI - A-ok
Tried to schedule the other ones - Private Practice, The Office and 30 Rock and get a conflict

I don't think that should be happening since I have 3 Tuners available ( I am using the 4th for development work).

Am I correct in my thinking?

Is there a log or something I can post that would show why there is a conflict?

  Not Finding Channels on HDHRun

Ok...added a second HDHRun tunner to my network, ran the HDHRun setup and it updated the GBPVR BDA file with the info for the two new tunners.

When I run the channel scan GBPVR finds nothing.

  No Channels Found on Scan

Hi

I wanted to use gbpvr to stream TV to my Popcorn Hour but am having problems. I have a Compro 850F tv card which is recognised as a Compro 900 by gbpvr which I think is fine (driver the same for windows for both) and I am running win7 x64. However whenever I scan I don't pick up any channels at all (and I get 63+ in media center). Any clues where I'm going wrong??
