Zero length recording files with HDHomerun
Posted by: denntho - 2010-02-07, 12:12 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

I have been using gbpvr successfully for a couple of years with analog capture cards. Recently I obtained a dual tuner HDHomerun device. Using your guides and various forum postings I was able to get it recognized by gbpvr, scan for channels and map the channels (QAM from cable) to EPG channels.

Now when I schedule a recording it looks like everything is working except after it creates the recording file it stays at zero length. I can watch Live TV Preview successfully using PVRX2 on the recording PC but as soon as I pause and it tries to record live TV it locks up. The file it creates stays at zero size.

I don't see anything wrong in the logs I've attached. Any insights?

Thanks.

postprocessing.bat not start after "cancel record" in EWA
Posted by: alevideotestservice - 2010-02-06, 11:38 PM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (2)

hi,
I noticed that stopping a recording in progress, using the cancel command present in the EWA, does not start Postprocessing.bat.
When the scheduled recording in the "manual recording" of EWA ends timetable set, the Postprocessing.bat start regularly.
Is there a way to start Postprocessing.bat even when you stop recording before the set?

File conversion queue how does it work
Posted by: luttrell1962 - 2010-02-06, 10:33 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

I recorded a bunch of shows yesterday atsc/qam ts format and none of them where converted because of a Java error running projectx. But after I rebooted today it started converting the files. Does PVRX2 continually scan directories for ts files to see if they are converted and retries the conversion over and over until it succeeds. This seems to be the behavior I'm seeing. I looked in the database file but not sure what I'm looking at. I think the last field has something to do with conversion status, can't remember the name though.

It would be good to understand this in case I need to re-enable conversion for a file that has failed but will not retry.

I have GBPVR connected to NTSC regular definition cable TV and would like to know what bit rates would work well for show quality but not be too large file size?

The current High Quality settings are shown below. How much can I reduce them and retain show quality for viewing on TV screen of regular definition?

Video Resolution : NTSC 720x480
Variable enabled
Bit Rate: 6500 <=== How low should this go?
Bit Rate Peak: 9000
Audio Bit Rate: 320 <=== How low should this go?
Audio Sample Rate: 48 kHz

What settings do you use for shows you want to put on DVDs?

  File conversions not running
Posted by: luttrell1962 - 2010-02-06, 05:17 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Well everything was working last night and I erased all the recorded files most of them where fragments from testing. I scheduled a bunch of recordings to day from about 4:00pm on until 9:00pm but none of the file conversions have ran.

Are they on hold? How can I tell, I have a sqllite editor. Should I just wait awhile longer.

I added some code to the batch file to record time and date to a file each time it gets ran, this is for ts conversions. But the analog conversions have not ran either.

  WinTV-HVR-1600 setup help, please!
Posted by: Saker - 2010-02-06, 04:03 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I'm completely at a loss how to properly set this up... I'm in Pennsylvania USA here with god-awful Comcast as a service "provider" for cable. I did see exactly 1 channel #3 (at some point fiddling with settings) My regular HDTV is digital cable with a set-top box, apparently for other tv's in the house (if I had any) I need either another set-top box, or a lesser box Comcast "Digital Transport Adapter" which I have gotten off them Motorola DTA100/2305/000 (f/g no. 555117-001) and attached. cable from the wall to a splitter, 1 to cable modem, other to comcast dta then to WinTV-HVR-1600. I can see channels using the tv cards included software (WinTV7), but it has no tv guide... I have gotten the TV guide feature in gbpvr to work, and can hear internet radio fine. I've read through the posted "initial setup guides", but some of the screens are different, and well I'm obviously getting something wrong since I can't get any channels to play.

PVR250 and Win7, black live tv screen
Posted by: steve232 - 2010-02-06, 12:06 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

My HVR1600 died so I replaced it with a PVR250 to use it for the fixed analog in.
Grabbed latest drives and the pvr250 works fine in wintv7.

The seems to be a couple of filter errors in the log.

Could someone please take a look? I really not sure what I'm looking at.

Thanks
Steve

  Ripping to FLAC
Posted by: peterh - 2010-02-05, 09:58 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Sorry if this has been covered; I've searched but not found it! How are people ripping to FLAC? I read on flac.sourceforge.net that Winamp was one way but even with a FLAC plugin, apart from saying it is processing and slowly churning through each tune, the end result is a Winamp playlist file

TIA
