parse website for "playing now" using webradio/sirius
Posted by: ryanmc - 2009-12-13, 11:16 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (3)

I dont know how much interest their would be for this, i dont know that theres many users using it but id like to be able to see "playing now" info for sirius in webradio. on this link it shows playing now and past played bunch of songs the link has the channel number in it so substituting "channel=27" for whatever channel listening to gives info for each different channel. http://www.dogstarradio.com/search_playl...ur=&eampm=

theres also other ways of displaying the data from that website one page puts playing now for all channels on one page
http://www.dogstarradio.com/now_playing.php

theres also rss feeds i think this is better than scraping at least i could read them to my lcd but thats only in my pc
if any developers would like to do it i could offer a sirius online subscription for some time. im using webradio and siriusstreamer to play sirius.

Assign MCE remote to specific machine.
Posted by: whurlston - 2009-12-13, 07:57 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (5)

Posting this here because I'm going to be looking for it sometime soon:

Quote:This works for me - I found this a long time ago and it still works in VMC, not sure about Windows 7:

Set Remote Control ID - To enable your Media Center to respond to a specific remote control ID do the following; 1. Press and hold the DVD Menu key on the remote then press a number button (1-8) for 5 seconds. Remotes with visible LED signal indicators will blink twice to confirm the change. 2. Enter that same number below, and do NOT forget to delete the other entries in the same registry . 3. Save. 4. Restart the Media Center PC. Note: To enable Media Center to respond to all remotes use the number 0. A reboot is required for this setting to take effect.

Change the key below to the number you entered into the remote control:

Registry key - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HidIr\Remotes\745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57da

Registry value - CodeSetNum0

Registry value data type - REG_DWORD

Set CodeSetNum0 to the value you set your remote control to.

This setting also requires deleting the following registry values:

Registry key - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HidIr\R emotes\745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57da

Registry value - CodeSetNum1

Registry value - CodeSetNum2

Registry value - CodeSetNum3

I do not think I changed ControlSet001, as that gets changed on the reboot after you change CurrentControlSet. If it does not work do both.
HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\HidIr\Remotes\745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57da

Registry value - CodeSetNum0

Registry value data type - REG_DWORD

Set CodeSetNum0 to the value you set your remote control to.

Delete the following keys:

CodeSetNum1
CodeSetNum2
CodeSetNum3

Help - Please help me select a TV tuner
Posted by: geekette - 2009-12-13, 04:15 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (6)

Please help, I've been racking my brains with this.

I am looking to turn my DELL Laptop into a PVR. Here's my details.

TV: I get currently just watch OTA ATSC tv, but I may someday get satellite or cable, and I'd like this to be compatible. Right now, I get my signal through a DTV Converter box.

My computer: DELL Laptop (a couple years old)

OS: Windows XP (don't have Media Center)

I'm thinking of buying a:

- Hauppauge Media MVP, to connect PC to TV. Anyone have any better suggestions? I definitely want something with a remote.

- Hauppauge 1193 WinTV HVR-1500 Notebook Express Card, to capture TV signals. This is the one I'm really not sure about. I want to be able to record shows and watch live TV at the same time.

Finally, I'd like to get the cheapest products that will still be effective. So if anyone can suggest any non-Hauppauge items, please do.

Thank you in advance.

hi,
since i installed a new motherboard & processor & graphics card, the PVRX2 I is very slow, it takes about 2 seconds to scroll from one main menu item to the next!
(also, i experienced severe stuttering in tv mode, which was remedied by setting ForceAudioReferenceClock to true.)

Setting for Numeric Channel Change Timeout?
Posted by: smajor - 2009-12-12, 11:39 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Is there a setting for the "time out" of numeric channel change? I find the default often too short for me.

For example, if I change to channel 863, sometimes it'll time out before I'm done my key presses and I'll get channel 8 or 86, or just 3.

Question spurred by new spiffy new Hauppauge remote and my thumb not being as fast to find the numerals as on my old remote. I also don't think this remote "sends" quite as fast as what I was using. :p

  GBPVR sluggish in Windows 7?
Posted by: Pob - 2009-12-12, 10:21 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Having purchased Windows 7, I do occasionaly try using it, and one difference compared to XP is how much longer it takes for GBPVR to respond.
For example, selecting GUIDE form the main menu 12 seconds pass before the guide opens - every time, not just the first time after starting.
Is this just me? My Win7 install is pretty clean, only programs installed are WinTV and GBPVR.

Added new line up to SD cant get EPG to show listings
Posted by: TheShadow - 2009-12-12, 10:10 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I added a new line up to SD for digital channels. I have changed the EPG Source to be:

Username;XXXXXXX based on the ULR from the edit screen at Schedule Direct. I click update epg and All seems to go well execpt the Channels table never populates.

What am I missing?

I deleted the extra source and with only one source it works fine. I really wanted to use both sources.

Thanks

  Tivo IR Transceiver
Posted by: arei - 2009-12-12, 08:58 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I am attempting to convert my media system over from running Nero's LiquidTV (with included hardware) to GBPVR. The hardware that comes with LiquidTV is a Hauppauge 950q USB device, a Tivo IR Transceiver, and a Tivo Remote.

I have had good success getting the Hauppauge 950q up and running. But I have had no luck getting the Tivo IR Transceiver to blast IR commands to my STB.

Has anyone been able to get this working? The remote works as an MCE remote as far as navigating GBPVR, but I've tried almost everything to get the IR commands to the STB.

Any thoughts or advice?

Arei

  Remote keeps starting MCE
Posted by: Tonto - 2009-12-12, 08:45 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Can anyone please help with my remote problem?
I have a Huuppauge media centre remote USB type and it works well with GBPVR out of the box.
Only problem is that it keeps starting windows mwdia center when i press certain buttons.
How do I stop it controling MCE all togeather?
I would love it to start GBPVR when I press the MCE start button too, thinking of removing MCE completly from my PC as it's lack of HD support and other linitations annoys me.

Thanks,
Chris
