Hi,

Using lates gbpvr i just want it to play dvd files, mpg files, show pics and play mp3 files.

Most of it functions Ok. I use a cheap remote control together with eventghost to send commands to gbpvr.

sometimes, with some dvd's this works OK, but often it does not. It just seems that, when playing, al input is cut off, remote as well as keyboard. The only thing in this case what I can do is useing ctrl alt del or (when explorer is running) the other keycombinations which are captured by the OS itselves.
Does anyone could have an idea of what's wrong here? playback is set to VMR9 custom, and al other dropdowns to ffdshow exept the lowest 2 which only have system default as option.

Also, how can I make gbpvr jump to the dvd menu first, before playing a movie?

Not getting a response typically means people dont know what your problem is caused by.

Reproduce the problem and post the pvrx2.exe.log and pvrx2.exe-native.log and I'll see if anything stands out.

It sounds like GBPVR is losing focus to another application. Someone suggested a workaround for this in another thread somewhere. I think it was to set a shortcut to PVRx2.exe on the desktop and assign it a hotkey. Then program that hotkey sequence to a button on the remote.

Are you running AnyDVD? If so, that behaviour is set in the "Video DVD" section.

lol.... I cn understand that. Was not really meant to bash people, but more as an exclamation of surprise that appearantly I am the only one encountering this.
Will reproduce it and post some logs. Also, it usaually happens to the very same movies, so... it may be something with the way these dvd's are created. Hoewever, I am not deep enough into this stuff to find out myself.

The only thing I see is what I wrote above. This does not mean the computer hangs though. The movie just continues and when it's finished, sometimes I'm dropped nicely back to the menu. Other times I stay on the final black screen.
When I use ctrl-alt-del (which still ARE available) and call the taskmanager, I then see behind this taskmanager that someimes input suddenly IS allowed as long as the taskmanager is on top, even though it does not have focus. But as soon as the taskmanager disappears and gb-pvr has full focus again, it's immune for the input again.

I will try your suggestion, thnx.
And no, am not using anydvd.
Tried iso files sometimes with daemon tools installed. Was not really satisfied, but this could be related to the problem above. Also no dvd device is installed on the system. The only dvd's being watched are directories with video_ts and Audio_ts directories in it.

The only two reasons that spring to mind for me are: app losing focus, or video decoder incompatible with VMR renderer causing second renderer to be used (happens with old Cyberlink decoders).

I'm guessing the program that was used to rip the DVDs to the hard drive had a "go directly to main movie" option and it was enabled.

Nope, Also happens with dvd's which just nicely goes to the main menu and sits there waiting for user input.
