Here is a batch file and registry file to quickly set the GB-PVR Recording Service to "Interact with desktop".
The included "Set Interact with Desktop.cmd" will import the appropriate registry setting and restart the recording service. If you have not disabled UAC, you will need to right click the .cmd file and "Run as Administrator".
Alternatively, if you are not running UAC, you can just double click the "GB-PVR Recording Service (Interact).reg" file and import the setting into the registry. You will then have to restart the GB-PVR Recording Service for the change to take effect.
There is also a .reg file to set it back to the default if you choose to do so.

I just bought one of these hdtv recorders thinking it is going to work with gbpvr but in horror it's been a nightmare.
I have tried reading through posts and read about patches etc... so do these patches apply to the latest version on pvrx2?
I've installed all the software and drivers on the disc I have a revision E and only have system default in the h264 drop down.
I have no picture or audio from the recording and really hate this lump of coal....
I downloaded the latest drivers with no luck.
I have a dual core on an 8600gt and video is not smooth using the arcsoft software theatre and I am only recording to the rca video in until I get my hd terminal in a week.
I thought the 8600 decodes hd in hardware?
was the hdpvr a bad choice? does the thing work in gbpvr?
Ok, so I've got GB-PVR 1.4.7 installed on my Windows XP x64 SP2 box. I have two HD Homerun external tuners (though not relevant). It works as I expected. The system running GB-PVR is in my basement so I typically access it through remote desktop. The best I can tell PVRX2 doesn't work over remote desktop. Using overlay I get a blank screen (as expected). Using either VMR9 option the application won't start with the "Sorry, this system does not support the required VMR9 video render". EVR doesn't work either.
I know GB-PVR has a web server for managing recordings, but it doesn't seem to work either. I have the box checked in the config on the misc2 tab set to the default port (7647), but when I go to http://localhost:7647/gbpvr/guide.aspx in either Firefox or IE6.0 I get an "unable to connect" / "Cannot find server or DNS Error". I've also tried changing the port to something else with the same results
Possible relevant facts:
- The firewall on the PC is turned off.
- I'm already using IIS on port 80 for hosting something else
My questions:
- Is there some incompatibility between my setup and the web server application? (like it doesn't work with Win XP x64, or uses IIS, etc)
- Is there a work around for using PVRX2 over remote desktop?
- Is there another way to control it remotely?
I'm about ready to pull my hair out. I've tried everything I can think of.
My HTPC is not connected to the net and there is no EPG for TV. I won't watch TV through the HTPC cos the quality isn't as good so all I want to do is record from the S-Video input on X date at Y time ... just like a VCR scheduled recording.
Is there any plug in for GBPVR or even a stand alone program that'll do that?
I have 2 HVR-1600 cards (second recently installed) and I cannot get the recordings to record properly. If it's say 4:00 and there is one show to record at 4, both tuners will record the show simutaneously. Unfortunately, both recordings end up being glitchy and tough to watch.
If there are 2 different shows on 2 different channels recording at 4, each tuner will record each channel, but both recordings are glitchy and problematic. I have no glitching or problems watching LiveTV
What could be causing this?
I'm using the ATI Codec (as my video card out is an ati x1300)
I know that the Hauppauge MVP and Popcorn Hour are supported what other media extenders will work with GB-PVR? I am somewhat of a novice so looking for something on the simple side like the MVP. The MVP was great up till Comcast went digital on me and now everything is DVR-MS which when converted to MPG loses its audio when streamed to the MVP. So I need a replacement for the MVP. Thinking about building a dedicated HTPC connected to the Flat screen and stereo which would solve the problem.

Alrighty. I'm new to GBPVR, but it seems well within the realm of my experience so I decided to giver 'er a try after getting slightly frustrated w/ the interface for Mediaportal. After the troubleshooting to first get a reliable xmltv EPG solution and then finding out my HDhomerun needs a little bit longer dwell time when scanning channels, GBPVR seemed to work just fine. I thought "great!" I then went to try some other settings (like encoder/decoder choices) and now when I try to watch live TV, it pops up with the channel and program info on the bottom but no video and after about 1.5seconds of sound, the program crashes. I've done enough fiddling (deleting/uninstalling/installing from scratch) that now I'm beginning to think the small window of proper operation was the fluke.
In the map EPG/digital channel page, I can click on some of the channels in the list on the right and see a preview of the video just fine. There are also some channels that after a few seconds of video preview the program crashes as well. I haven't found anything really identical to my problem in the forums, but then "crash" brings up a lot of unrelated issues.
I've attached the logs from when the preview window crashes, when live tv crashes, and the text file mentioned in the "dr watson-esque" windows crash report. Anything else I should mention to get help get to the bottom of this issue?

I'm having a few problems setting up the TV portion of GBPVR and am in need of some assistance. I'm new to GBPVR, so I'm sorry if my questions are a bit noob-ish. My system is Win 7 64-bit running GB-PVR 1.4.7, with an old Hauppauge PVR-150MCE analog tv tuner installed. I am in New Zealand and have connected the UHF output of my sky digital satellite box to the RF input of the 150MCE card. The sky box is set to transmit the tv pictures on channel 21.
I have used djkxml to create a tvguide.xml file, which has been imported into GBPVR, and I've set the source channel for the Sky Sport 1 listing to channel 21, but when I run GBPVR, go to LiveTV and choose the Sky Sport 1 channel it just shows static on the screen.
If I use Hauppauge WinTV 6 to scan the channels it finds the Sky TV signal on channel 21. So I'm not sure why GBPVR doesn't display the sky channel. I presume channel 21 actually refers to a different frequency in GBPVR and WinTV, but neither program shows any frequency info so I can't confirm this.
So I'm a bit confused as to what's going on, and how to sort it out. I'd really appreciate any suggestions you can give me!
I just formatted my HTPC and installed Windows 7 RC 32-bit (I got suddenly fed up with some problems that had cropped up on my XP install, and the RC was all I had on hand). Most things went pretty well, video decoding is MUCH improved - no tearing, no stuttering, perfect de-interlacing.
I'm recording DVR-MS files, and all the recordings made since the switch to Win7 play with no audio or video - however, the recording itself is actually fine as you'll see in a moment (the timeline is present, and comskip was able to mark the commercial breaks just fine). Any DVR-MS file recorded with XP still plays fine.
I looked in the pvrx2-native log, and for a file recorded with Win7 I see GB-PVR building the graph like this:

It's exactly the same, so why does the newer file not play?
Seeing the "GB-PVR Flow Status" filter in there reminded me of Hoborg's post, and I recalled he was able to get playback by setting all the decoders to System Default. So I did the same, and sure enough all recordings play fine now:

Note it only hooks up one Audio decoder, and the GB-PVR Flow Status filter is absent.
Now, so far, everything seems to be working OK with the decoders set to System Default, so my immediate crisis is averted. But this is obviously a problem...
(yes, to answer the question someone is prepping to ask, I did try also with the ATI MPEG-2 Decoder (from the AVIVO download), same result, so I really don't think this is at all codec-related).
I have GB-PVR 1.4.7 setup for Time-Shift mode. I go to LiveTV at 2:30 and watch a show for about 5 minutes and then at 2:35 I press the record button and record to the end of the show which is at 2:55. I come back an hour later and leave LiveTV and view the Recordings. I shows the time of the recorded show from 2:35 to 2:35 (incorrect) on the selection menu but the details menu shows 2:30 to 2:55 (correct). I play the recording and then hit the pause button and the Time-Line shows a duration 1 hour and 7 minutes and that number keeps increasing. I exit GB-PVR and check the Tuner Status using the icon in the tray and it shows the tuner is still recording the show. I re-start the recording service and that stops the recording and when I go back and play the recording all of the times are the same, but the duration of 1 hour and 9 minutes is no longer increasing. Is this correct for Recording LiveTV?
