  tuner busy after client failure
Posted by: Quintin - 2009-09-13, 05:55 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

when watching live tv or when requesting a live tv session start: if the client has a failure either a network dropout, codec failure or if the server has no signal GBPVR tends to handle this not so graciously.

if you crash out of the client or even if it manages to regain its composure (which it sometimes does after a lot of time of the user not knowing whats going on) the server still thinks the tuner card is busy. is there a neat way to somehow reset the recording status monitor and free up the tuner again?

why cant GBPVR display more progress notifications or error notifications like 'no signal detected" and reset both server and client to a stable state, or 'network error" and reset to stable again?

jsut an idea.

[DEV] change arbritary values in an .xml file?
Posted by: johnsonx42 - 2009-09-13, 03:50 AM - Forum: Community Skin - Replies (12)

McBainUK:

In the SkinPluginConfig.xml, I know how to use the <xmltextsizeedit> function tp increase or decrease a numerical value in an XML file - as used originally for the Text Size, which I also hijacked for the 'TV Guide Rows' selection method.

Such as:

Code:
<xmltextsizeedit> <name>skin.xml</name> <target>%SKINROOT%\TV Guide\skin.xml</target> <node>/settings/TextStyles/TextStyle[@name='ListingStyle']/@size</node> <default>11</default> </xmltextsizeedit>

This function takes a starting value and then modifies it by +1, -1, etc. which come from the corresponding folder names under the Resources folder. (I know you know all that, you wrote the code, I just want to make sure we're on the same page)

What I want to do now is change certain values in an .xml file, but use absolute values rather than relative numeric values. For example, I want to be able to set a certain value in an XML file to True or False.

Now as I've been typing this, I had a look at the file 'EditableSkinItemsList.cs'. I see there is a function called <xmledit> which probably does what I want, but I see no example of it's use in SkinPluginConfig.xml. Can you confirm this function is in fact what I want, and give me a usage example?

What I ultimately wish to do is to write a replacement for the existing Settings screen in PVRX2. Sub said he is getting rid of this screen in 1.5, as he's decided he's never going to get around to implementing it the way he planned. There are a variety of user-interface related settings that would be useful to change from the Skin Plugin rather than have to go in to config.exe or hand edit in config.xml.

PVRX2 Live TV says no signal from FireDTV sat card
Posted by: luximax - 2009-09-13, 12:24 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

I cannot produce live satellite TV from my GBPVR setup. My best result so far has been a brief stillimage without sound from one mapped test channel with error message saying no signal is detected. Mostly the screen remains black.

Since I am able to watch live tv using the DBViewerapplication there must be something wrong in my GBPVR config. Logs and screenshots attached.

I really want to get GBPVR working - thanks for any ideas.

  LiveTV is jumping frames
Posted by: Sanman99 - 2009-09-12, 11:45 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (9)

When I try playing LiveTV, the player plays the show. The problem is that I get no audio and it keeps jumping frames only every few seconds. In the config, my channels such as 3 WETM, keeps mysteriously getting its source channel changed to weird numbers like 100 for example. It is supposed to be 3.

How can I get the player functioning again and have audio and smooth video?
Is there any way to keep my channels from getting their source changed and screwed up?

Thanks

  1.4.7 Failed Recordings
Posted by: martynw - 2009-09-12, 10:48 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I've started getting failed recordings overe the past week or so and am not sure why.

I rebooted the machine today to give a fresh start.

I got a successful recording of A Town Called Eureka (DVB-C), but then 2 failed recordings tonight of The Big Bang Theory (DVB-T) which was a 0 byte file followed by Warehouse 13 (DVB-C) which didn't create any file.

I've attached logs, please let me know if anything comes to mind?

Thanks,

Martyn

Playing files from network on PCH
Posted by: soccerdad - 2009-09-12, 09:23 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (1)

I looked and looked but could not find this answer. I now am using my Vista box as my PCH server. I can see and play everything from the PCH that is local on the server. I could not see any files from the network, even though I can see them on the server. I tried adding another account and starting the recording service there. Now I can see the file names from the pch, but have lost all playback and live tv.

  Freeview sound missing
Posted by: Bathman - 2009-09-12, 06:42 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Following a scan I get a wodge of channels some of which say Audio #2. In the past I never selected these channels as all you got was a bloke talking to you.

With the new version the scan doesn’t seem to be quite right and I will get channels that don’t have audio #2 selected but when you play them you get no sound. And conversely I get a channel that says audio #2 but the sounds works perfectly.

The problem is it seems to be no pattern to it. I am know effectively having to turn by one channel at a time. Has anyone else had this problem?

There is more to this than meets the eye. When I select the channel when Digital Channel Mapping the sounds plays perfectly. It only when playing life TV it doesn't work.

There is even more to this than meets the eye. I got all my channels working BBC 1, BBC 2 by adding them one at a time. I then restarted the computer and now they show up in edit recoding source as BBC 1 under tuning request they now show up as BBC 1 (Audio #2) before the reboot this wasn't the case

Video Card Recommendation For US HD DXVA Playback In WinXP
Posted by: TonyXL - 2009-09-12, 06:26 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (3)

My GeForce 7300LE just can't seem to smoothly playback 1080i USA clear QAM HD content in Windows XP. I've tried every mix of decoders/mux/renderer/drivers/settings possible.

Can anyone using **Windows XP** with US HD ATSC/QAM recordings give me a recommendation on a video card to give smooth DXVA playback of content?

Thanks!!!

  Net Top PC for GBPVR?
Posted by: NumberFive - 2009-09-12, 06:08 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (16)

Hi,

Just wondering can anyone recommend a net-top computer for use with GBPVR? My current setup is uses 2x USB Hauppage tuners, and frequently plays back 720p H264 videos (I'm guessing a familiar setup).

Any suggestions? I'm looking something reasonably priced as opposed to high end.

Cheers Smile
