  Will this work?
Posted by: cardinalsfan - 2009-09-12, 05:49 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (24)

I have been wanting to use GBPVR FOREVER!! I just now have the time and resources to make it happen. I found a good deal on a computer that I think will work for what i need. will the following specs run gbpvr?

* CPU : Via C3 1.0GHz (Motherboard is a Via EPIA-M)
* Memory Total : 256MB PC2100 DDR SDRAM
* HD : 40GB IDE
* Optical Drive : 8x DVD±RW Dual Layer DVD Burner (There is no floppy drive)
* Network : Onboard integrated 10/100Base-TX Fast Ethernet
* Dimensions: Case size - 15 x 12 x 4 (inches)
* Power Supply : 220W AC - This can switch between 120v-220v input
* Video : Onboard integrated VIA UniChrome AGP graphics with MPEG-2 decoding acceleration and 32MB shared video memory
* Ports : Four (4) USB, One (1) Firewire, One (1) Serial, One (1) Parallel, One (1) HD-15 VGA, One (1) RCA Video-Out, One (1) S-Video, One (1) IrDA and Two (2) PS/2
* Form Factor : Mini-ITX Desktop
* Audio : Onboard integrated VIA VT1616 6-Channel AC-97 codec
* TV Tuner Card : TVision TVF-7531MF PCI with Coax(TV-In), S-Video, RCA Video-In, Audio-In/Out and Remote
* Memory Config : 1x256MB
* Keyboard : IR Keyboard with integrated Mouse
* Model Number : VIA EPIA-M
* Condition : New in Sealed Box (NIB) and sold with warranty

I am going to upgrade the RAM and the HDD, so no worries there

Just a few things i worry about.
1. Is the processor fast enough? It is embedded so I cant upgrade
2. Will the graphics be enough?
3. Will this tuner work with GBPVR?

If it wont, I have a question about the pvr-500. I have standard cable, bo cable box, no hdtv or digital cable, just a cable running into the tv from the wall. will this tuner work? wont any tuner work? Thanks!! I would like a quick answer as this deal wont last long.

  Offline Content Search
Posted by: meccano - 2009-09-12, 04:16 PM - Forum: SearchWiz & MovieWiz - Replies (1)

I've tested loading my offline DVD library inventory into MovieWiz, e.g.:

Alien
Aliens
Torchwood - Season 1
Torchwood - Season 2
True Blood - Season 1

but there doesn't appear to be anyway to search this list via GBPVR.
I'd like to be able to search these titles to determine which seasons
I have, for example:

Torchwood ==> show all titles with "Torchwood"
Season 1 ==> show all titles with "Season 1"

Am I missing something? I also have SearchWiz installed but it
seems to only search recordings.

  No sound on DivX files
Posted by: dshoup - 2009-09-12, 03:17 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I can not get audio from most DivX files I have imported in GBPVR (video is fine...loads the DivX codec and plays, just no audio). I do have a couple of DivX files I have imported that work with audio...'can not tell what makes the difference, but these are the exception rather than the rule. The files that are not working in GBPVR play fine with audio in VLC Media player and with the DivX player that installed when I downloaded the DivX codec. I tried downloading the latest DivX installation file and reinstalling…no help. Any ideas what I need to do to get audio when I play these with GBPVR? I've also tried setting all the advanced codec settings to DivX decoders in the GBPVR playback configuration. I'm using GBPVR version 1.4.7 and DivX 7 (free version). I've attached my logs and my config.xml files in case they help.

  No sound suddenly
Posted by: skreien - 2009-09-12, 02:54 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Hi everyone,

All of a sudden I am not getting any sound from GBPVR. I can play anything in VLC and WMP and everything works fine, but no sound from recorded shows or live tv in GBPVR. I've looked through the logs and can't find anything that indicates why. If someone else can spot something I'm missing I would appreciate the help.

Thanks

  No sound on win 7 gbpvr client with .ts files
Posted by: Barsk - 2009-09-12, 12:25 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

I have a new nettop computer with dual core atoms and Nvidia ION (Geforce 9400M) that I run as a gbpvr client with Win7 x64. Everything works perfectly except I get no sound on Live TV and recordings. I notice that I do get sound on older mpeg recordings, but nowdays I use ts mux. I have other client installations on XP which works fine.

When mounting the gbpvr server shares and playing the ts files outside gbpvr in wmp I have no problems at all. I have also tried every possible and impossible combination of audio decoders and renderers, but no luck.

I'll attach the logs...

EDIT: replaced logs with debug setting on. Previous was info only.

  VB script to start pvrx2
Posted by: TimC - 2009-09-12, 02:11 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I set up one of my remote's buttons to start pvrx2 but if pvrx2 was already running it would create a new process and then switch me to the old process. I ended up with alot of pvrx2 processes if I kept hitting the button. Here's a little script that will check to see if pvrx2 is running and if it is activate it, a.k.a. bring it to the forefront. If it's not running, it will start it.

Code:
strComputer = "." strProgramName = "PVRX2.exe" strProgramTitle = "PVRX2" Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:" _ & "{impersonationLevel=impersonate}!\\" & strComputer & "\root\cimv2") Set objShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell") Set colProcessList = objWMIService.ExecQuery _ ("Select * from Win32_Process Where Name = '" & strProgramName & "'") If colProcessList.Count > 0 Then objShell.appactivate strProgramTitle Else objShell.Run strProgramName End If

Not very complex. Save it to a file with a vbs extension and put it in the same directory as PVRX2.

  GB-PVR can't find video on some HD channels
Posted by: neverland - 2009-09-12, 12:46 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I have a Dell XPS 1640 laptop running 64 bit Vista and WMC. I have installed GB-PVR. When Channel Mapping in config/Capture source/ some of the high definition channels only had audio (AC3) only available. Live viewing of the channel transmits audio but there is no video. The channels work fine in WMC.

Can anyone suggest a solution?

  move update epg

It would be nice to move the "update EPG" in the System menu to not be on the top. often if the computer is slow and I hit the "ok" button more than once and then it will update.

  2 0kb digital recordings
Posted by: mian - 2009-09-12, 12:34 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I recently reinstalled XP (Home, SP3) to a new drive. I imported my GBPVR settings (copying gbpvr.db3 and config.xml over after installing GBPVR 1.3.11 and the vcredist_x86.zip file), and things seemed to go pretty smoothly. I have the same drivers for both of my capture cards (see sig) that I did in the old installation and that worked flawlessly. However, I seem to have created a little snafu.

I've had a dozen or so digital (clear QAM) recordings go fine on the new installation, and then suddenly this wednesday and thursday night respectively I get Glee and Fringe recording 0kb files from my 2250's tuners. Both are on Fox, and Fox functions fine on both my 2250's tuners, so I don't know how to duplicate the problem. However I do have Glee scheduled to record again tonight.

I've attached log entries from the two nights. I believe they were the only shows recording from 8-9pm central on their respective nights. I omitted log portions checking recordings.

Since the log mentions multirecord, I just installed the survival guide's recommended patch, but I don't really know what multirecord does and since both shows were recording solo, it doesn't seem like that would be the problem.

Any ideas? Thanks.
