MDAPI/Multidec only works in Live TV
Posted by: Barsk - 2009-08-31, 09:23 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

In Live TV encrypted channels work fine in multidec mode. But as soon as I start a recording or timeshift mode, decoding from the multidec plugin stops. Seems to me like a bug? There are stuff recorded, but it plays back as black video.

Windows Media Connect - Storing stuff on a Home Server
Posted by: psycik - 2009-08-31, 09:21 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (3)

Put this in the developers forum cos I figured it's most relevant for that.

Has anyone played with a home server for storing recordings/movies?

I haven't been able to find anything that details how to put the metadata into the Home server so that recorded TV shows retain their details.

Anyone played around in this area? I'd like to move some of my recordings and other videos to the home server as my home server has a bunch more space on it.

  Newbie - WAF - PCH C-200 and HD-PVR
Posted by: Scifidude - 2009-08-31, 08:39 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (10)

Hello all,

By way of introduction I'm somewhat of a GB-PVR, NMT newbie. However, I have 30+ years IT experience from mainframes through PCs.

Having waded through several forums looking for answers and not really finding a solution I am humbly posting this to seek your expert opinions.

With the demise of analog TV (no more VCR) I'm trying to get a relatively simple setup in place that will give me a 5 star WAF (read that as the wife can operate the system to do simple record and playback) out-of-the-gate.

Once I've gotten the 5 stars I can use that leverage to add other components to the system (like a new quad core server) for video editing, etc.

I want to minimize the number of boxes, cables, remotes, power cords, etc that now inhabit the video cabinet. To that end I don't want to have to add a PC to the stack that already includes a DVD player, Satellite box, VCR, Analog to Digital converter, power controller/surge protector, etc.

My question relates to the PCH C-200 and Hauppage's HD-PVR. I'm interested in the C-200 since it has support for gigabit enet, WIFI, and internal hard drive and the HD-PVR since it can capture HD content.

Is it (or will it be) possible to connect the HD-PVR to the C-200 (with an internal hard drive) and not require a separate PC to do manual recording and playback?

If I can get that setup to work for ~ $500 it would go a long way in getting the 5 star WAF rating.

Thanks for all your help.

  PVRX2 window size is zero...
Posted by: Barsk - 2009-08-31, 07:59 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

For some time now I have had some peculiar error with GB-PVR, it started in 1.3.11 sometime and still occurs in 1.4.7. Whenever I set PVRX2 to windowed mode I get a zero sized window, i.e it sits in the taskbar, but is not seen anywhere. Actually, it can also be positioned outside of the visible screen. Anyhow, I cannot find it... Only way to see the contents is to maximise it or go fullscreen. Can I somehow set the position and size of the window to be visible again? Cannot find this config anywhere... ?

Portrait photos appear on their side
Posted by: Flyndr - 2009-08-31, 07:28 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

I have posted a question before on this.

Pictures in portrait mode appear on their side in photo Viewer. I now know that this can be corrected by using up and down keys on remote but.....
Is ther a way to save the new configuration? The pictures turn for viewing but next time appear in the original configuration (back on the side)

I would like to go through them all and orientate them correctly and save that configuration for later.

  Locked database
Posted by: nightwalker - 2009-08-31, 04:47 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I'm not sure what I did but ever since I deleted the capture source for Comcast and setup a new one for Verizon I keep getting a lot of locked database errors in my recording service log. Did I screw up something I can't say I ever had this happen before, of course it's been years since I touched it.

I tried deleting the database and the capture source and re-doing it all again and letting the database get recreated but I get the same locked message.

Any ideas on why this popup would be occurring? I see the logs always contain this, but I've never seen a popup with the error.

Intel Atom Server with PCH-A110 as client?
Posted by: pgbpvr - 2009-08-31, 03:02 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (5)

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum.

First let me thank all the people involved, it looks like a great tool, can't wait to put it to use Wink

I'm considering the following setup:
1. Atom based netbook (as server with GB-PVR)
1.1 USB digital+analog Tuner (don't need simultaneous, just thinking ahead for the switch)
2. PCH A-110 as client

Now, on to my question(s):
1. Can an Atom processor (netbook) be used as GB-PVR server? Can it do the duties? I'm particularly concerned with the encoding part, I think the streaming to the PCH will be easy (or will it?). Anyone used Atom HW for this?

2. What tuner would/should work with the Atom (considering it can deliver). It would have to be a USB tuner, considering the netbook part.

Thanks a lot for any info.
Pedro.
