I am using Gbpvr 1.3.11 configured with an HVR-1600 (Digital) capture card to record from Comcast with Clear QAM channels.

Because I am a MVP user, I have been using ffmpeg to transcode from the recorded .ts files over to .mpg. For 20+ channels, this set up seems to work (although I haven't yet fine-tuned the transcode options available through ffmpeg).

However, on about 5 of these clear QAM channels (and only these specific channels), I end up with a transcoded .mpg file that has audio but no video. Investigating further:
- If I simply try to play back the resulting .ts file under gbpvr (on the PC), the .ts file looks just fine (both audio and video) -- so the built-in .ts reader seems to like the format of the recorded file
- When I examine the ffmpeg log (during transcoding), I see lots of errors
- When I simply try to "read" the .ts file (e.g. Ffmpeg -y -I "my_ts_file.ts") yields the following message:
my_ts_file.ts: I/O error occurred
Usually that means that input file is truncated and/or corrupted.

Are there some additional switches that need to be set for ffmpeg to make sense out of these "special" .ts files? ffmpeg doesn't seem to have any problem reading the .ts files recorded for the other channels.

I took a brief look at the gbpvr/logs but (at first glance) didn't see anything different about these specific channels vs all of the other digital clear QAM channels.

I started out with a pvr-350 a long time ago, then replaced it with a HVR-1100 and now have just replaced that with a HVR-4000. All came with the 45 button grey remote (handy to have some spares!). The PVR box is sitting under a Cambridge audio surround amp and a Phillips flat screen TV. Before upgrading to the HVR-4000 I didn't have any remote clashes - all worked fine. The Phillips TV remote would sometimes cause the PVR to go into the Internet Radio plug in which annoyed the wife. However now I've replaced the HVR-1100 with the HVR-4000 the remotes are a nightmare. The amp remote causes havoc with GBPVR. I found another post about remote problems and the suggestion to comment out the remote types in the irremote.ini file. I've done this, but need the 30 one else the remote does nothing. Unfortunately the amp remote still causes problems. It's frustrating that I'm using the same actual remove from the original PVR-350 and never had problems yet I cant work out how to configure the irremote.ini for the HVR-4000 not to clash with the amp remote. Any suggestions?? It'd be extremely annoying to have to buy an MCE remote when I have 3 hauppague ones!

I am receiving TV channels (from Thailand) that from my location are only available as Internet streams... eg. see SiamTV.info

their are quality problems with the streams, sporadically some are blocked by the Thai government and the Internet bandwidth and connections in Thailand are problematic, however mostly I can receive them reasonably

windows media player and vlc both seem to be able to decode and display the channels

but I want to record, timeshift and use PVR capabilities

so, I have installed and tried to use GBPVR and UBU (configured, reinstalled, fiddled, etc, etc)... I can receive channels using UBU and via GBPVR but I cannot get recording and playback operating

my first question is:
what software products and combinations should I be trying to use?
I will rank proposed solutions on cost and elegance.

secondly: can someone help me with documentation/examples of the parameters that can be used on the GBPVR External Recorder configuration page?

somehow I am unable to understand the logic and resolve the apparent contradictions between the documentation and the list of parameters that can be used on the GBPVR External Recorder configuration page. eg. should I enter and actual number or the string "channel" (with or without {} or <> around them. when I enter an explicit number (eg. 00) the number appears to refer to the channel listed in the EPG rather than the "channel number to record on" as claimed on the actual configuration page. If its the source channel then do I need to setup a different External Record definition for every channel?

will appreciate anyone that can assist either with alternate approaches or detailed configuration help.

Hi, I just upgraded to 1.3.11 a couple of days ago using the NMTInstall.exe, and the upgrade itself went fine. However, now I'm attempting to get my PCH to work with GBPVR (the real reason for the upgrade) and it's giving me fits.

I'm running GBPVR on a Windows 2003 server, I have enabled the Guest account and granted it and the Everyone group access to the MVPMC share. I also granted the Everyone group access to the GBPVR folder. Once I did this, I was suddenly able to at least launch the GB_PVR via Network Browser link from the GB-PVR.html file. Prior to that I could get to the html file and launch it successfully, but regardless of which link I chose, I always received an error stating "Request cannot be processed".

Interestingly, I still receive that error if I go through the share that I created on the PCH, but the browser link at least comes up if I launch the html file via the network browse option. However, as soon as I attempt to move on the GBPVR screen that comes up, the PCH reboots and I'm right back at the beginning!

I've tried mapping the share as root, guest, as well as a user that I created on the server, providing the password when I mount the share, all to no avail. I have set the resolution to 480 and NTSC (one was in the PCH setup screen and the other was during the NMTInstall, but don't ask me which was which). No matter what I try, I can't get the regular GBPVR link to work, and the network browser link only works if I navigate to the MVPMC share via the network browse option on the PCH main menu.

Any suggestions will be welcome, as I am pulling my hair out trying to get this to work. I'm testing with an analog TV upstairs (hence the 480 and NTSC settings at the moment) and once I get it working will move it downstairs on the HDTV at which point I'll up the settings.

I forgot to mention that I have updated my PCH (A100) to the latest June 2009 firmware, but it has made no difference whatsoever. I have configured the Guest account without a password, but simple file sharing is not an option on the 2003 server. Whether I use the guest account or the actual user account and password that I created I can always get to the mvpmc share and can always launch the html file, but none of the links work.

I seem to have photo library plugin which works fine but some of the pictures are in portrait format (up and down rather than sideways) and the program shows then on their sides. Screensaver does the same so i am guessing it is in the parent GBPVR system somewhere. I have tried turning them with various programs (Windows picture and fax viewer and photoshop) and they display fine in those programs but still sideways in photo viewer or the screensaver.
Is there a setting or a way to fix this. Should i use Photos plugin or picture library instead?

I suspect my problem is (as usual) that i dont know how it works. Any suggerestions gratefully accepted.

PS GBPVR is installed to an XP host on my network. And the error I get when I browse to my GBPVR server on the PCH is "No Content Found On This Server". PCH is A110

Does the picture on the non HD sources look any good? Also, cdan I output HDMI & Compinentat the same time?

Problably relevant to Jaggy, but Martin will know as well. Will the EGreat work with our freeview|HD files? A new distributor has opened up here (http://www.aiwa.co.nz) and so may look at one of these to replace the A100 in the bedroom, as I'm getting sick of waiting for Syabas to add HE-AAC-LC audio support.


And I assume that I can run the gbpvr interface as I currently do with the A100?

I just received a laptop with this tuner installed and I cannot get it to work. I have vista business installed. Support told me that they do not support GB-PVR.

I am unsure if GB-PVR supports the hardware?
I installed but cannot find my hardware listed in the tuning assistant.

Can anyone please guide me through how to get it working.

I have vista 32bit Business 3GbRam
Device manager reports the hardware as dvb7700
The driver states DIB7700 and all working ok.

I would like to set up a File Sharing Client in a VMware VM. I read that it is not possible to use PVRX2.exe in VMware, but that it was possible to run with GBPVR.exe.

Is it possible (somewhere) to get (from an old version) GBPVR.exe, and would an old version work with 1.3.11?
