small GUI bug with focus and scrolling
Posted by: peabody - 2009-08-07, 03:52 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

In the Ready section, left-click "Ready", then left-click any recording on the right - it is faintly highlighted but not selected in a way that gives it the focus. Now, if you use the mouse scroll wheel, it erroneously scrolls the left menu (Ready/Whats New/etc) instead of the program list on the right that you just clicked. To compare, if you click "Ready" then use the right arrow, the first program is brightly highlighed and the scroll wheel works on it.

Likewise with the "Pending" and "Recurring" pages.

I noticed this when I upgraded to 1.3.11 (i.e. pvrx2) from the gbpvr.exe GUI,
so this GUI glitch may or may not be recently introduced. FWIW, gbpvr did not
have this problem.

The GB-PVR Recording Service service could not be started.
Posted by: peabody - 2009-08-07, 03:34 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I have the recording service set to Manual startup on my WinXP system,
so that I can have a system startup script do a few things before
the "net start". Lately, I see this error more often than not
in my startup log:

Quote:The GB-PVR Recording Service service is starting........
The GB-PVR Recording Service service could not be started.

The service did not report an error.

More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 3534.

Despite that, the recording service always starts OK and I
have never failed to get recordings. The recording service log doesn't
show any errors. Maybe there is just some bad status returned to Windows that makes it think the startup failed?

FWIW this started shortly after I upgraded to 1.3.11
I don't know if whatever causes it is new in 1.3.11 since I was
upgrading from the very old 1.0.16. While it hasn't happened at
every startup since the first occurrence, it has happened for the last 20 consecutively.

Thanks in advance for any help.

  Recording Problem
Posted by: kevman7894 - 2009-08-06, 11:01 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

There is a line of static at the tip of my recording that I assume is from my 10 dollar tuner card. I was wondering if there is a way to edit what gbpvr records so that line won't be recorded. Thanks.

  How to install GBPVR?
Posted by: BertB - 2009-08-06, 09:13 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

For over a week I tried to install GBPVR, no luck sofar! I get an error.

"Installation ended prematurely because of an error"

.net 2.0 is installed on my PC and I also run the vcredist_X86.

Several re-downloadings of GBPVR.msi and the above programs doesnt seem to help. The same error occurs again.

Can anyone help me solve this issue?

What is correct sequence of installation of this program?

I have a vista home premium sp 1, 3.0 GB RAM, 32 bits, ADM athlon 64X2 processor. M779 PCIe DVB-T tuner card.

  Country Plugin
Posted by: MixMan - 2009-08-06, 08:34 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (2)

I have managed to make a plugin, without any programming skills whatsoever.
The plugin can show flags and country codes.

I have made an Excel sheet that can generate an XML file with country data, that the plugin reads and shows.

Download from
http://www.hyperlinkx.com/pmwiki/pmwiki....ry.Country

<Country>
<CountryName>Afghanistan</CountryName>
<LocalName>Afghanestan</LocalName>
<Target>http://www.navyband.navy.mil/anthems/ANTHEMS/Afghanistan.mp3</Target>
<HomeURL>https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/af.html</HomeURL>
<LargeFlag>Afghanistan.png</LargeFlag>
<SmallFlag>AF.gif</SmallFlag>
<FIPS104>AF</FIPS104>
<ISO3166-2>AF</ISO3166-2>
<ISO3166-3>AFG</ISO3166-3>
<Win-3>AFG</Win-3>
<ISO3166-number>4</ISO3166-number>
<CountryCode>af</CountryCode>
</Country>

The plugin is based on WebRadio. But I don't have enough skills to get it to play an audio file or show the CIA factbook for that Country.

Is there anyone that want to improve it?
In that case I will upload the code, plugin, flags and XML file to my wiki.....in a zip

UltraXMLTV: What's up with it anyway?
Posted by: zehd - 2009-08-06, 06:59 PM - Forum: ZTools and UltraXMLTV - Replies (28)

Recently I dug into my stats think I see an issue where users are having trouble in one way or another.

I was wondering if Ultra users (or even interested parties) could chime in and tell me what is wrong...

Out of 175 registrations, only about 15-20 of you are using it on a daily basis. There are others that have not used it for a week or so, telling me you likely run it manually.

Then there are those that tried it and then didn't use it after that. At all.

Why?

Too difficult to install?
Too confusing? (Too many docs?)
It crashed, and you didn't have the patience to see if it could be fixed?
Online registration a deterrent?
Ultra version 1 working just fine...?
It's summertime - GB-PVR what?
Something else?

I'd like to know what I should do. As much as I really appreciate the support I do have, it might not be worth the effort of working any further on the project, if there aren't enough interested people.

All responses are welcome. If you prefer not to be in public, PM me.

Thanks

[SIZE="1"]BTW. I did find the nagging locking problem, and will be releasing the patch really soon...

  Language selection and language files
Posted by: mrmace69 - 2009-08-06, 03:11 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

The package that I downloaded (the latest) has invalid language files such as Finnish. Some translations are made but most of it is still in english

I have made my own translations (complete) but still when I start the program, some of the text are in english WHY???

  GBPVRRecordingService.exe crashes with Win32 exception
Posted by: sixeyes - 2009-08-06, 12:17 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Last week I switched multiplexer from DVR-MS to CyberLink as I discovered this would generate .MPG files. Everything appeared to be fine but over the last couple of days the recording service has crashed repeatedly.

I've attached the logs in the hope someone can tell me how to fix this. For the moment I've switched back to DVR-MS in the hope that it will restore reliability to my system.

  Duplicate recording on different disks?
Posted by: rmorein - 2009-08-06, 03:59 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

This is not a bug question, but a request for info to help manage multiple hard disks.

Do repeated identical episodes of a TV show have unique identifiers that allow GB-PVR to avoid making duplicate recordings?

With recordings on a single hard disk, I assume that a duplicate would simply replace the existing recording. In my case, I have three hard disks, which I manually manage by changing the recording folder to best use available space.

Do duplicates occur in this situation?

  On Holiday (Part II)

Leaving on Friday(8/7) for my 2-week vacation (back in-town 8/24) so support may be a little light over the next couple of weeks.

I do have high-speed access at the condo and I will be checking things periodically when I come off the beach.... Big Grin
