  Internet TV posts
Posted by: Dave72 - 2009-07-26, 04:39 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

Maybe its too early yet.. but I bet at some point we could use an Internet TV section. Perhaps this thread will spin off some ideas though..

What are you doing wrt internet tv type shows ?

This has come a long way, quietly in the background. I was amazed at how much ITV is available. Anything from a single video of some retard jumping off of his shed into a tree (ala youtube etc), to small budget shows in regular appearance (some on youtube/etc, some have their own websites), to bigger budget shows (wanna-be tv channels almost..), to the niche pros (like NASA, PBS, MTV, etc), all the way to torrents feeds of current tv shows (Low risk so far), and movies (higher risk nowdays).

Some shows are pretty low res (the youtube et al), but there's alot of good-res (500+) and even HD out there.. free for the taking.. some pro-sumer guys doing HD video of Alaska trips etc.. and of course the NASA Spitzer and Hubble stuff..)

One way to gather all these together into a folder that you can associate with GBPVR, is to use an aggregator for rss files.. like Juice or Miro etc. Leave one of these apps running, and it will fill up a tree on your hd pretty fast.. with videos that GBPVR can process (treat your 'Videos' menu like a bunch of channels)

Who's playin with this.. Im thinking theres a few anyhow..

  Hauppauge remote
Posted by: Hop - 2009-07-26, 02:21 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (5)

Hello. I've got GBPVR set up and working nicely apart from 2 minor problems.

Firstly, I have a lot of music, pictures and recorded programmes. It takes a long time to scroll through them to get to the one I want. Searching the forum I found the suggestion of mapping the programme up/down buttons on my Hauppage 45 button remote to page up/down. However, I've looked in the irremote.ini and it's beyond me. Is there anything that explains it step by step?

The other problem isn't strictly to do with GBPVR. I have my media pc connected to a plasma TV. I don't have a second monitor attached. I set the computer to output at a resolution of 1080 (which the TV supports) and it works OK. However, after a reboot it usually, but not always, resets itself to a much lower resolution. I can't work out why. Any ideas?

How can I clear all my future recordings?
Posted by: lancedefrance - 2009-07-26, 12:47 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Is there a quick way to clear all recurrent future recordings without going through the front end? I have a lot of these and I dont want to go through them manually.

Can I clear recording-dump.xml or simply delete gbpvr.db3 or similar?

Thanks

  Finally: Avivo is accelerated
Posted by: pBS - 2009-07-26, 12:38 AM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (1)

well, they finally have produced the vaporware they've been touting for years...
With HD4600+ cards, the Catalyst 9.7 release of Avivo actually does use the gpu for encoding! Big Grin

There are new filters in the download, and the guy from bluesky who makes dxvachecker has also updated his A's Video Converter to take advantage, and it has command line options now too..Smile http://bluesky23.hp.infoseek.co.jp/en/index.html

But... in true ATI style, the misinformation continues...lol
an excerpt from their page on it..

Quote:1 The ATI Video Converter is only supported on ATI Radeon™ 4600 and ATI Radeon™ 4800 Series GPUs. [kinda narrow base considering the advertising]

2 The pre-release version of ATI Video Converter demonstrates that ATI Stream technology allows video conversion that is faster than ever before. ATI Video Converter using ATI Stream technology converted an HD MPEG2 video at 1920x1080 resolution @ 24fps running 3600 seconds to an MPEG4 video at 320x240 resolution at 24 fps in 3 hours 23 minutes, while iTunes 8.0.1 with WinQuickTimeMPEG2 pack converted the same source video to the same output specifications in 3 hours and 23 minutes, demonstrating a 17x speed up.[huh?!] System specifications: Intel Core 2 Duo QX9650 3.0 GHz processor, 6GB of Corsair CM2X1024-8500C5D 1066 MHz memory, Windows Vista Ultimate® 64-bit with Service Pack 1, ATI Radeon™ HD 4850 512MB.
oh, so it converts in the same exact time and that's considered 17x faster? lol Smile
it does actually convert really fast, so that's a real goof typo..[17x = 12mins]
and isn't a QX9650 a QUAD core and not a Duo?!
and could we make a more silly encode? 1080p -> 320x240? oh that'll show it's power...not! lol
that really only shows *decode* speedups if anything...
their advertising dept. really needs to talk to their technical folks...

anyways, next week i'll be playing with the filters and making assessments and post results..
[i just got a 9400GT and now i'm trading back in for a lowprofile hd4650 with hdmi...Smile]

please post any helpfull info if you have one...
tho i'm thinking now this should be in hardware forums..

  Live TV not working
Posted by: plg123 - 2009-07-26, 12:24 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (9)

GB-PVR v1.3.11. Logs attached.

Nothing. No sound, no picture.

It used to work, but only for a while. Then the sound would get out of sync with the picture. It would get worse and worse until the picture got choppy, at which point I would exit. I suppose I've changed some settings since then, but couldn't tell you what exactly. I've tried lots of different things.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Digital playback vs NVIDIA SLI mode
Posted by: feniks - 2009-07-25, 09:13 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hello,

Just a question if anyone tried to playback Live TV (digital QAM) when running their systems in NVIDIA Display SLI mode (multi-GPU rendering) ?

It seems that serious lagging occurs on all QAM channels once NVIDIA SLI enabled, making them unwatchable. it affects only digital capture source and not the analog one.

If I run NVIDIA Display in non-SLI mode (primary GPU only rendering,s econd one idles) it's all OK.

I'm using same decoders for both sources (ffdshow video & audio). using Hauppauge HVR-1800 capture card (digital + analog feed).

GBPVR to playback Internet movies, tv, etc
Posted by: SmallTownUSA - 2009-07-25, 08:03 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Hi All:
This is probably a dumb questions, but can I use GBPVR to play back content I have downloaded from the Internet? I am building an HTPC w/o a tuner. I plan to download content from the Internet and then play it back on my HDTV.

Also, is there a way to capture video (say from Hulu), record it on my NAS so I can play the video back at a later time?

Thanks.

  Tuner Install Advice
Posted by: nightwalker - 2009-07-25, 07:53 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (6)

I never had much need for more than one tuner but i find myself looking to do that now.

I have a WinTV PVR USB2 installed and working fine, has been for years. I also have a HVR 1950 sitting here that I want to install. Won't the two interfere with one another? the USB2 is using WinTV version 4.11 and the HVR 1950 seems to come with WinTV 6+.

Do I un-install everything first? do I just get rid of the older version? Let them both install?

I didn't even get to the GBpvr setup and I'm already confused. This is gonna get ugly, I can see it now. Smile

Any and all advice is appreciated.

On-Screen buttons stop working during video playback with overlay
Posted by: Incongruent - 2009-07-25, 02:22 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I was using VMR9 Fullscreen/exclusive which was working fine for me, but wouldn't allow me to open any other applications from GBPVR such as snes emulator since it enforces modality of the GBPVR screen.

I tried switching to overlay which seems to play the videos okay (still requires more testing), but then all the buttons for forward, skip, pause etc do not work while playing the video. I have to hit Escape key to break out of playing the app.

Am I missing something or is this working as designed?

-Allan
