What's the best part of your GB-PVR system
Posted by: McBainUK - 2009-07-20, 12:48 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (23)

After the depressing vibe from my last post I'd thought I'd cheer myself up and ask you guys the reason you bother with HPTC / GB-PVR?

Is there a particular feature or features you love or is it just one big geekfest?

  what hardware would I need?
Posted by: stefan - 2009-07-20, 11:57 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (1)

Hi,

My gbpvr hardware gave up a while ago. I switched from dvb-t to dvb-s, and got a "pvr" box from the provider. I'm sick of it already. It's the worst piece of crap I've ever encountered. I really thought it would work a lot better... It has one feature, though, that I didn't have with my old gbpvr/dvb-t setup, and that is 1080i recording. I love the picture quality of that Smile And it's a dual tuner.

So, if I were to rebuild my gbpvr box from scratch, what would I need? I saw that CI support is coming up, which is good news for me, since I never managed to get multidec working.

I'd really like to be able to record (at least) two shows simultaneously. Can you use one CI module with two tuners? I have two antenna cables running from my dish, so that part's covered.

Are there any dual dvb-s tuners, by the way?

  No Channels
Posted by: Intercity - 2009-07-20, 11:44 AM - Forum: DVB-T Radio - Replies (5)

Program scans for channels for about 20 seconds and then exits with no channels found.
I hope you don't mind but I have attached the logs. I have been trying for a couple of days and have read the forum to get this working and would appreciate any help.

  LiveTV Doesn't Work, black screen
Posted by: JenniferL - 2009-07-20, 09:06 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

GB-PVR seems to crash when I try to watch LiveTV. This is the only function I've really been trying to use but when I go into the TV Guide it does list my channels, just no show details.

I'm using an XML EPG list I got from geekzone.co.nz is it possible that since I downloaded this quite awhile ago it is no longer working?

I only recently got my computer to plug into a main aerial, I had tried using 'rabbit ears' in the past (UHF ones) but found it too difficult to get a signal so gave up, although I did have some sucess and GB-PVR did seem to work.

Anyway I'm a complete n00b at this and have a feeling someone will point out something obvious I haven't done. I tried looking for an answer in the forums but didn't find anything that helped.

I really appreciate it if someone can help, logs are attached and I'm using a Hauppage HVR 2200 TV card and GB-PVR 1.3.11 (installed the latest version to try and fix the LiveTV)

  Taiwan Channel Scan
Posted by: MixMan - 2009-07-20, 12:19 AM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (1)

McBain UK inspired me, so I am re-making the DVB channel scan files for several countries.

I just made a DVB-T channel scan file for Taiwan.
Is there any GBPVR user in Taiwan that can test the file?

I can make scan files for other networks and countries upon requests.

Need to run PVRX2 as administrator for USBIRT to work in Win7

If any of you are having trouble getting the USBIRT to work in Windows 7, try running PVRX2 as administrator.

  New Router
Posted by: Blue Racer - 2009-07-19, 11:06 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (6)

I just purchased a Linksys WRT54G2 router to replace a Netgear WGR614 router that I was having problems with it. This router appears not to be able to reserve IP addresses. I made no changes to the computer which gbpvr resides on. Now when I try and access the gbpvr computer with the pch browser all I get is the spinning wheel. I am able to access my Windows Home Server pc, just not the gbpvr pc. The gbpvr computer's operating system is Vista Home Premium. Can anyone see something that I'm missing?

Martin,
I did not change the IP address of the gbpvr computer. I am not sure what IP address the PCH is currently using though.

  EPG timespan and more...
Posted by: Popeyejunior - 2009-07-19, 10:42 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

1st. Thanx for a greate program!!Smile
I'm using a Pinnacle usb-stick for freeview some danish channels.
I have a couple of EPG Q's. I use DVB-EPG.

In the guide I have a view of the future 2-3 hours of programs. Can I change it to view a longer timespan, like 12 hours or so?
When using Search Guide theres information for about 2 weeks.

And in the text-window in the bottom of screen, the text is cut-off, as if theres only room for a defined count of charaters.
Can that be changed?

please help to configure IR blaster
Posted by: gbpvriwanna - 2009-07-19, 08:33 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (8)

now that i returned my HD-PVR, I bought a remote to control/IR blast my cable box. however, i can't get it to work.

I purchased the following from ebay.. I'm sure it is a version 2.

http://cgi.ebay.com/PC-Remote-Control-HP...7C294%3A50

It is made by HP and it says HP Media center on it. However, in Device manager, it shows up as "ehome Infrared controller" instead of "MCE infrared controller." it does not respond to HIP...

Does anyone have something similar and if so, how did you get it to work?

thanks in advance.

ATI THEATER 650 PRO (AGP) - how to engage onboard processing instead of CPU?
Posted by: Incongruent - 2009-07-19, 07:43 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (1)

Hey guys, I would really like to develop a knowledge base on this card in particular. I figure lots of people may have this card, so lets share the knowledge.

My question is, how do I ensure that the onboard encoding is engaged instead of the CPU power? I read the white papers and according to ATI this thing should be low on CPU usage since it can do its own hardware encoding. But it seems that whenever I use the live TV the CPU gets load. Maybe this is normal, but just to be sure, what settings and muxers and decoders and etc need to be set so that all the HW is used?
