ok... it has been a while since i last posted here... and that's because GBPVR has been working so well for me and i had finished all the tweaking and was into the day-to-day....
...BUT NOW Seagate has ruined my zenn and their inferior product has toasted itself. My 500GB barracuda disk containing my OS and Program files suddenly stopped being recognized on boot this morning. Apparently they have a huge firmware issue that is wide spread and after a number of months writes a bad journal entry to the disk which causes the drive to be forever stuck in a "BUSY" state and will not even get recognized in BIOS on boot.... Lesson = don't buy seagate.... I've sent the disk in for some data recovery covered under warranty and according to others with the problem the data should be safe since the firmware is the problem.
The most unbelievable part though is that only 3 days before I installed a 1000GB drive and moved all my media to that disk. Amazing save.
I just thought i'd take the time to complain about Seagate and their poor product. Stay away.. buy Western Digital or ANYTHING other than Seagate/Maxtor.
Anyone else have a PVR story about how their PVR failed?
I just purchased a Linksys WRT54G2 router to replace a Netgear WGR614 router that I was having problems with it. This router appears not to be able to reserve IP addresses. I made no changes to the computer which gbpvr resides on. Now when I try and access the gbpvr computer with the pch browser all I get is the spinning wheel. I am able to access my Windows Home Server pc, just not the gbpvr pc. The gbpvr computer's operating system is Vista Home Premium. Can anyone see something that I'm missing?
Comcast has just notified me that they are going all digital in my area. This is going to cause me to make significant changes to my audio/video system, including GBpvr as they are all still running on analog. I have happily used GBpvr for years, with almost no intervention from me, so well I didn't give it much thought at all, until now, sadly. Since i distribute audio/video throughout the house via analog MVP's over modulators to mix with the TV signal and be available on any TV. The analog and digital signals do not mix well together so I see no alternative but a dual system.
I have just a couple of basic questions for those that have already made this change and been through the process.
I'm still using GBpvr 99.12 and it's been rock solid but, am I right that I will have trouble getting digital tuners to work with it?
According to Hauppauge the replacement for the WinTV-USB2 units I use now is the WinTV-HVR-1950. Have they been as good a performer as the analog units they are replacing or should I look at something else?
Last and most importantly, also the real reason I'm still on version 99.12 is the music plug-in jukebox2. My current music system is made up of the Jukebox2 plug-in powered by GBpvr feeding multiple sources to my whole house music system through MVP's. This one simple plug-in is the backbone of my music system. I see that it's no longer listed as working with the newer versions of GBpvr. Is there something that replaces it or has it's functions been replicated in another music player. Most I've looked at don't seem to be as solid, quick or have the ease of operation this does. Family and guests look forward to being able to press a button to add a song to the queue, it's been a hit around here for years so much so that if I have to I'll strip version 99.12 to the bone, give it it's own computer system and run just it. Wasteful I know but it's that important to a household full of music lovers, amateur as well as professional.
I can't remember or find this, but I'm sure it was mentioned in the past.
The green "viewed" indicator in the recordings screen that shows that a recording has been seen seems to get erased if the recording is left to run to the end and drop back to the menu.
It would be nice (for our household anyway) to keep it active in this case to say the show has been seen.
So I have a problem with the syfry channel. I read the few posts on other peoples problems for when they did this, and thought I had fixed it as well.
Or at least had it livable. I got the old scifi and new scyfry channel listings together in the guide. Scifi still shows no entries, but that was okay, I got the new one to show and play properly.
Originally it played a different channel.
After I moved it in the list to the same channel, it played the scyfry channel correctly.
A day or so ago, I go and watch a recording, and it is the old wrong channel again. I verified the listing and it still shows it in the correct order.
So in doing that, it restarted gbpvr. I go to watch again, and it is now the correct channel again.
So the next day I check and it is still good, thinking the update might have messed up the channels.
When I got home from work, I checked again, and now it is the wrong channel. I know it wasn't doing any updates for the guide at that time, so I am stumped.
Right now since the two channels are listed next to each other in the guide, I just set up manual recordings in the no description list above so I can catch my shows.
Is there something else I can do to clear this up?
Is this where I need to do the DB wipe to start over again?
I am new to all of this and not all that good with computers.
I have tried lots of different things now and still can not make the system work properly. I seem to be able to get ether live TV or recording working but not both at one time. I am using windows 7, gigabyte 9500 GT, pentium 5200, PVR-2200. I also have a nova T 500 but have not started playing with that yet.
At present I have recording and play back working really well but get no image with live TV.
I am setting up a new pc to run GBPVR on, but get errors when installing gbpvr.
I have installed dotnet 2 and then began installing.
Part way through the install i get the following:
ERROR 1904:Module c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\gbpvrwriter.ax failed tto register. HRESULT - 2147010895
abort retry ignore
Whe i choose ignore then psiparser fails to register. This continues with every file thereafter.
No antivirus installed yet. I switched off windows firewall.No success.
Windows XP Pro sp3
I installed a fresh copy of XP SP3 and the latest version of GbPVR. I went through and did the setup, I have a dvico HDTV5 RT Lite card. It went through and found all my aerial digital channels. But when I run GbPVR when I lick on Live TV, or TV Guide, nothing happens. I know the tuner card is working because I can open it with the Dvico software. Thanks, Im new to this!
