Record Audio from Digital Music Channel
Posted by: drmuffin - 2009-07-13, 04:34 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Is there a way to record just the audio from a station? The video on these channels is just a black screen, or static image saying the current track. I would hate to waste the space to record this video, when I just want the audio.

  Newbie needs help with HVR-950Q
Posted by: jocoman - 2009-07-12, 11:50 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hi
I am trying to get both analogue and digital working with a Hauppauge HVR-950Q.

If i set the source as an analogue device I can get the analogue channels running. To bring in the digital, do I add another source set it to digital and call it device 2 yet point to the same hardware.

Anyone else have this working?
Thanks
jim

  Silicon hd protectors
Posted by: SLR_65 - 2009-07-12, 11:35 PM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

Hi guys,

I just bought my son an EGreat NMT and a WD 1TB black drive and I was looking for a case to put the hd in and I ran across some silicon hard drive protectors - they look pretty good and are CHEAP! Smile (check fleaBay)

I ordered one for my son's setup, I'll report back what we think of it once it gets here and we use it for a bit.

TTYL,

Steve

  Comcast Conversion Problems....
Posted by: LowEntropy - 2009-07-12, 08:44 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (59)

Hello all,

I've just made the cut over to the Comcast digital signal and now have DTAs (digital transport adapters) to contend with. I've read other postings and I didn't see anything that appeared (with my limited knowledge) to address my issue.

I'm using a Hauppauge HVR 1950 with Media MVP along with GBPVR version 1.0.16. The primary issue is that the feed from the Comcast tuner (DTA) into the HVR 1950 only shows as one channel on both the WinTv and GBPVR side. Only the Comcast remote control can change to a different channel. I've changed configuration settings in GBPVR's "Capture Sources" and "Recording Sources" to "Fixed channel" and set that channel to 3 but now that's the only station that is referenced across the board.

The question then is what settings allow for the HVR 1950 to change the channel on the Comcast tuner (DTA)? Are these settings on the Hauppauge side of can this be accomplished in GBPVR? Or is the situation worse then I'm able to see?

All help is appreciated....

Options for a victim of the digital revolution
Posted by: icrra - 2009-07-12, 08:04 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (22)

Hello:

I don't really have an issue with GBPVR, but need some expert opinions on my dilemma.

I have Comcast standard cable here in Portland, OR. Last month, Comcast switched to digital signals only. No problem -- I simply purchased a QAM capable tuner (Hauppauge 1250), mapped the channels, and all was happy in GBPVR land.

Alas, happiness and Comcast don't stay together long. It appears Comcast no longer broadcasts the "good" channels in clear-QAM anymore. So, I'm no longer able to record shows on HGTV, ESPN, etc. I still get these channels using the little digital box that Comcast sent me, but not using clear-QAM on my GPPVR machine.

So, what are my options? If I hook up that little digital box to my computer tuner, is there a device that will allow GBPVR to change the channel on that box? How do you map all channels to channel 3? What other options do I have?

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thanks very much.

Channel order in gbpvr guide wrong
Posted by: brewsky - 2009-07-12, 05:39 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

So, I've been using gbpvr for more than two years now with no major problems. I've recently changed my cable service to an entirely new company, with a different channel lineup, box, etc. I figured I'd use this time to upgrade gbpvr from 1.3.7 to 1.3.11 as well.

I use schedulesdirect for my EPG listings, and though it has run flawlessly with my previous service, with the new one I've had nothing but problems. It seems fine in the schedulesdirect report, but when I do an epg update, the channel order ends up all scrambled in the guide. It will count up to 21, jump from there to 76, and then more gaps all the way up. Those missing channels end up at the end of the guide as channel 2015 and such. I've tried changing lineups, reloading the epg, creating a new capture source and deleting the old one, reloading, reloading, etc.

And now the problem is still there, but I have "no show details" throughout the guide as well. I've totally run out of ideas, and I couldn't find a similar problem in the forums, so I figured I'd throw it up here for help. Any ideas?

Btw, I'm attaching all of my logs, should they prove helpful. Only the more recent ones will be in debug mode, but it should include a few reloads. Thanks!

Whats the best video card for Gbpvr ?
Posted by: DoPeFiSh - 2009-07-12, 04:25 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

It's been awhile since I treated myself to a good 'ole fashioned upgrade, what I currently have are the Hauppauge PVR-350 And PVR-150MCE, I know these are older cards and they seem to do very well, but am I missing something great in any new technology ? Like when I set up these tuners, I noticed that I could only set them up as analog, I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the Digital tv upgrading, but whats the difference with analog cards and digital cards ?

Thanks !

  Xtreamer media extender
Posted by: mvallevand - 2009-07-12, 03:41 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (13)

There are so many new media extenders these days it is hard to keep track of them, here's the Xtreamer with a reasonable first review http://www.mpcclub.com/modules.php?name=...le&sid=794

It's noteworthy because the company is talking about open source and help for developers so it might be a potential client. I didn't order one yet since I am skeptical.
