  Conversion Problem
Posted by: Hav0kc - 2009-06-11, 07:57 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I just started using GB after switching over from MythTV and I am having problems with two features.

The first is Commercial Detection. The problem is that it doesn't seem to work.
It doesn't seem to do anything.

The second problem is Conversion Processing. I selected XVid and whenn I manually ran the transcode the files was chopped to mere Kb and unfortunately as awesome as a 30 min show only being a few Kb's in size the files were obviously junk. I haven't tried any other file types yet as I've run out of files to convert.
Also the auto transcode option does nothing.

Any help is appreciated.

Clients hang for 10 sec, then work fine
Posted by: pythonpoole - 2009-06-11, 07:06 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

My set-up:
Server: HVR-1600 installed. Using analogue S-Video to connect to STB. Using Hauppauge blaster to control STB.
Clients: Wired network gb-pvr clients.

Basically everything is working, and the server can watch live TV and change channels in 1-2 seconds. The clients can also watch live TV and change channels.

What's the problem?
Every TV action on the client computers makes gb-pvr (on the client) hang at a blank screen for about 10 seconds, and then everything works fine.

For example, to start live TV takes 10 seconds. To change channels takes 10 seconds (plus 1-2 seconds for the actual channel change). Pausing takes 10 seconds. Going back to the guide or menu takes 10 seconds. Basically any action to do with live TV causes the program to hang for 10 seconds, during which nothing happens.

Any ideas what is causing the clients to hang and how to fix the problem?
Thanks in advance.

  Missing Channels in TV Guide
Posted by: cad - 2009-06-11, 06:09 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (9)

I'm missing many channels in the epg. I'm using schedules direct. I tried emptying the epg and then updating but that didn't work. Should I try a reinstall?

  the auto-script!
Posted by: pBS - 2009-06-11, 04:32 PM - Forum: MVPMCX2 and other NMT stuff - Replies (9)

well, i'm almost there....an auto-script that writes itself...Big Grin
basically i just get server name info from /tmp/setting.txt [server1=] and insert that into the script, thereby making it edit itself! Smile one size fits all...

i'm just using grep and a bash regex to parse it out...

Quote:server1=` grep servname1 /tmp/setting.txt `;
server1=${server1#*=};
then insert that variable into a auto-loading page..thereby constructing a valid link from info on the pch itself, so it has to be right..Smile

only limitation so far is it has to be first share name...but i think i can get around that too by looking for mvpmcx2 existence on each of them..[tho that'll take some tweaking]

i knew there was an answer floatin around in my head somewhere, sorry if i've been a bit odd lately, been on pain killers for a broken rib...lol
hopefully this can help users with easier setup, for shares at least..
will post preliminary scripts soon...

  Hauppauge 950q analog composite
Posted by: drmuffin - 2009-06-11, 04:25 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I have used the 950q with GB-PVR and the hauppauge soft encoder to record analog cable. Now I want to know if there is a way to tune to the svideo or composite inputs of the card?

Specifically, I am trying to hook my xbox up to my computer, so I can record/watch it on my monitor.

PC will not boot if TV is connected
Posted by: Lucas_24 - 2009-06-11, 04:07 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

I'm in the process of setting up my new rig and I'm having an issue with my TV connection. I'm running an Nvidia 8600 GT card. It has a DVI connector and a vga connector on it. I have my TV connected through HDMI using an HDMI to DVI convertor plugged into the video card, and a monitor connected to the VGA connector.

The issue, is that when I try to boot the PC up, it will hang if the TV is connected. The only way I can get it to work is to unplug the TV, boot the PC, then plug the TV back in and set up all the resolutions and secondary monitor settings. I've found quite a few threads on this topic but very little resolution. Does anyone here know of a resolution to this issue?

Thanks

  A question on recordings
Posted by: gbpvriwanna - 2009-06-11, 03:24 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (9)

all,

I did a search and was not able to find any answers:

1. Is it possible to order the listings in recordings in reverse-cronological order? I'd like the most recent recording to show up first, and then the previous day's recording and so on. i currently have to scroll to the bottom to see the most recent recording and would like to avoid this step.

thanks in advance...

Viewing RCA input in my PC. How?
Posted by: dadads - 2009-06-11, 02:29 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I would like to play my PS2 using my computer's monitor and so I bought a TV tuner card; the software (WinTV) that came with it lags so badly, that I considered GBPVR as an alternative for viewing media output from my PS2.

So here's my objective: display video from RCA input in real-time (I'm not recording anything).
Could someone post a high-level step-by-step on how to do this?

I get lost in the sea of options when I open the GBPVR config program, and online documentation/wiki is very abundant with information I don't need nor understand (mostly related to viewing TV channels and recording; I don't need those). I also can't find any options to view RCA input in the PVRX2 program.

Thanks in advance!
Any inputs appreciated.

Stays on the current screen when Screen Saver invoked
Posted by: jksmurf - 2009-06-10, 10:37 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (21)

I have a simple wish, but it may be Xrecord related. When I go to Xrecord and into a show but do not play it, just leave the cursor in the list, if I leave it like that (teed up so to speak) after the Screen Saver kicks in, it always goes back to the main menu.

I'd like it to just stay where it is. That's my wish!
