excellent news... i knew it'd just be a matter of time...
one thing, hhow about resume accuracy? last ver it wouldn't work for me on either pc or pch when pch2 mods added...
i went to using old .exe for pc, and pch2 .exe for pch so i get best of both worlds for now...
but pch still won't resume properly on long shows..[1 hr or more]

i've been using it more and more since the improvements..speed is amazing on my wireless g...

almost like being on a pc-client now..quite the accomplishment..

For that real feel of MVP emulation, if you who have the newer Hauppauge remote and wished it worked with the PCH, well now it can.

Installation

Place the lircd1 file in you mvpmc share and modify the initialisation area of gbpvr.cgi to include these commands

cp /etc/mvpmc/lircd1 /bin
killall lircd
lircd1 &

PCH Keys

If you need the PCH remote it should still work however the Hauppauge, remote will work in most PCH functions too. Here are some PCH mappings.

Zoom = #
Time Seek = *
Angle = Record
Title = Video
USB Eject = Go
Source = Menu

I haven't decided what to do with the Menu key. On the PCH it has a limited role in emulation as the Picture quick key, as the Source and Home keys are more versatile. Suggestions on mapping those keys are welcomed, we will probably need a new mvpmcx2 to make it come together.

For a few months now, I've just been entering all of my scheduled recordings manually, but I'm trying now to get the TV Guide working, so far with no luck. I found mc2xml on other threads, and I'm following the instructions on http://mc2xml.110mb.com/ to the letter (I'm only leaving out the optional step #2 because I don't understand it), but still it makes no difference. The TV Guide still says "(no show details)" for everything.

I'm just using broadcast tv, if that makes any difference, using a Pinnacle 801e and a Hauppauge 850. Is there any way to get it working?

i've been using zap2xml wrapper (always latest) for updating EPG. like it very much because it can differentiate between different cable packages (affecting channel numbering) of my provider.

all works fine, EPG gets updated, but now i tried to use it with icons and they do get downloaded by zap2xml, ut i think i'm missing something as GB-PVR does not show them anyways (gif files).

here is my c:\program files (x86)\devnz\gbpvr\updatepg.bat file:

In the wishlist i posted a question about an tool that tells me the file size of an scheduled recording.

Now i made an small tool to calculate this.
It was written with "Profan" ( http://www.profan.de )
It is like BASIC.

How it work:
It must be called as an custom task.
Then it will be copy the gbpvr.db3 to an other folder and calls a batch file.
The batch file use sqlite3.exe to extract the schedule recording infos to an TXT file. If the TXT file was generated, my tool open this file and calculate the time for all scheduled recordings.
For this it use an number in a ini file (before make a small recording, and calculate the size for 1 minute and add this to the ini)

It dosn´t look to the options "medium" or "high" quality !

My tool show an popup (time is configurable) and close then.
You can use True-Type-Fonts and config the size in the ini.
Also the popup position and the size can set in the ini.

The ini file you can set:
GBPVR folder
(the tool have a non changeable folder at the moment)
Diskdrive to check
Filesize for 1 minute
popup delay
popupsize and position
popupcolor
Font (True Type)
FontSize
Fontcolor
warningcolor (for low diskspace)

At the moment the tool is in german only, but i can translate the text to english, if anyone want this tool.

Anyone interesting to test (and use) it ?

Okay, so I'm starting to use GBPVR more (got rid of GAM), and I'm creating my own skin off of the default Blue skin. I've been able to get task images to show, but I'm trying to get a simple menu list, like one that is used in the Community standard skin, and not the rolling list that is used in default blue skin. I'm comparing the two menu skin.xml files, but I can't figure out what the difference is that will change the rolling characteristic to a static characteristic...and I did a forum search on "menu list" but didn't find anything that related to this. I know it will be something silly, but I can't figure it right now.

I did notice at the top of the blue skin skin.xml file the entry <MenuType type="Centered2"/> and I used the <!-- --> to comment this out, but the main menu still rolled.

With the help of Martin in another forum (networkedmediatank.com) I was able to install gbpvr on my pc and the pch-client on my A-110. Now that everything works Iam going to configure the details, where I would like to ask the following questions:

1. Is it possible to copy the files, that I currently have installed on my pc in the mvpmc-share onto the internal harddisk of the pch and start from there? Would this bring me to the point that I dont need the share on my pc. The gbpvr is still needed, I know.

2. Is it possible to automatically start gbpvr.cgi on startup of the pch?

3. Martin (alias emveepee) wrote in the other forum that there are 3 mvpmcx2's. 2 of them (mono and amp_test) are installed by the NMTInstall.exe, which I used. And there are two other releases with enhanced internal player and native hdmi-support. As I use hdmi I would be interested to know where to download and how to configure the beta release with the hdmi-support. Did I understand it right, that this would provide me with another, hopefully better, player for the pch? And how do these release have to be seen in comparison to gbpvr, which Martin says is more current?

4. I wasnt able to change the skin on the pch using the gui. I figured out, how to change it in the config.xml and now it is changed, but I wonder if this is a known issue?

Something seems to fail when my ML2 gets to it's third random playlist. I'm using the obvious workaround of making the random playlist longer, but wonder if it's bug that can be fixed all the same. I can't see anything obvious in the logs. It looks like it recognises the end of the playlist twice, then not at all.
I've skipped through the tracks to create the error for the logs, but it happens if left to play through normally too.

For those of you who couldn't use the component option of the Director's Cut you probably will be interested in trying the HDMI compatible version when I release it after a little bit more testing.

There will also be some noticeable improvement for everyone including:

- added 1080i h264 playback
- volume +/- control
- improved full/fill logic that is a much closer match to the NMT setting.

I think this addresses everything (except FLAC) that I want out of the client, can you think of anything else?

Sub, as I start to bundle up the release with next round of NMT client improvements, I thought I'd summarize some of the things that I think would make the client experience better. It is really pretty good now, but I think these could make it great. I know you are busy so if you can keep them in mind that would be great too.

Suggested things to look it for the next version of GBPVR

- OSD updates from GBPVR can come 4 times in a row without a break, so it would be nice to minimize the number of times they are sent. Hitting pause or skipping highlight the problem well. Maybe on a skip don't send the OSD with the current position, wait for one update post skip?
- Switching from Analog to Digital Live TV doesn't work.
- Switching A/A D/D and D/A work fine for me on one tuner, but reports that switching tuners might cause problems.
- HD-PVR LiveTV is very inconsistent, data is not being provided so server side stops streaming.
- HD-PVR Time reporting is different on the PCH and PC. PC duration is reported to be correct
- The Live TV prebuffer does not seem to work properly for TS streams

Wishlist for long term improvements

- Incremental updates for OSD, update the time on the minute might help,
- Search use remote keypad
- Separate live TV pre-buffer for SD and HD, buffer by size not time, time doesn't deal with device initialisation
- Provide audio and video pids for live TV streams, should improve performance and help "tricky" stations.
- PCH equivalent for Ctrl-O, maybe provide more information about the file?
- More accurate file duration based on sampling near end of file.
- Indexing while recording to provide accurate timeline and ignore PCR, text file with second file offset could work. Alternatively post-processing can create accurate indexes if a format is defined, maybe Erik can add this to comskip?

Note these are all deficiencies on the MVP too and I would bet even the PC client would benefit from improved live tv logic.
