  Recordings skip forward during playback?
Posted by: 4runr - 2009-05-25, 01:26 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I'm having problems during playback of recorded tv. Occasionally it will skip forward anywhere from 30 seconds to 2-3 minutes. If I rewind to where it was, it generally plays through the skipped section.

When playing the recordings with VLC there are no skips, so I'm assuming this has something to do with PVRX2.

It doesn't look like it has anything to do with comskip - the skips don't generally occur during or near the commercials, and I have the auto-skip feature turned off.

I've attached my logs if anyone has a minute to give me a hand.

The machine is a P4 3.0HT, 1GB Ram, Sapphire Theatrix 550Pro. Using the MPA MPV decoders that Sub has suggested in other threads.

Thanks in advance.

  divx compatiple MP4
Posted by: jam_zhou - 2009-05-25, 01:15 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

I just bought a portable DVD player that plays divX and I've also got a PSP, so I was wondering if anyone knew how to make divX compatible MP4 files that would be able to play on both my portable DVD player and my PSP. I really don't want to encode twice. I've already got all my recordings encoding to PSP MP4 format.

I don't want to use anything but the stock media player for the PSP as I haven't found them to be very good. I just wish Sony would make friggin divX available on their PSP.

TIA,
Jam.z

  Force a channel scan?
Posted by: pearsth - 2009-05-25, 01:12 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hello

I am trying to setup this for the first time. I have a KWorld ATSC 120 tuner (OTA HD, but no QAM) connected to my local Comast cable basic service.

As I was setting it up, I accidentally set it up for "Digital Recording Plug In" instead of "Analog Recording Plug In" and it failed. Seeing my error, I have properly (I think) set it up for Analog Recording Plug in by deleting my recording source and creating a new one and downloaded the EPG from SchedulesDirect. However, it hasn't done a Channel Scan again and I have no idea how to get it to do it.

So, when I go to Watch Live TV, nothing works.

The turner is working fine with my ArcSoft software and the Tuning Assistant. Please help!

Thanks,

Tom

  780G HD video always Studders
Posted by: feilh - 2009-05-24, 08:17 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (52)

Setup:

Gigabyte board with 780G, 4850E cpu. HVR-2250 recording QAM, Vista 32 bit HP, GBPVR 1.3.11

I've been trying to get HD to play without studdering for months now. I've tried ATI drivers 8.11 mostly. Just recently tried 9.3, 9.4, and 9.5 and got even worse results and went back to 8.11.

For the mux I have manly used AVIVO 8.11.

For the demux, I have tried the following:

Microsoft MPEG2 - moderate studder but never blue screens. If I use with Media Player then the Video is beautiful and smooth with low CPU util.

ATI - Similar studder blue screens whenever there are strange spots on the recording.

Cyberlink 7.3 - Better then microsoft but still studders. I haven't tried any sort of registry changes. If I play with CyberLInk PowerDVD software then the video is beautiful and smooth with low CPU. Bluescreens when the recording has bad spots.

FFDSHOW - so many version out there with so many options, I don't even know how to explain what I tried. It was always worse then Microsoft.

NVIDIA Purevideo - default configuration. Moderate studder similar to microsoft. Turning off hardware accel makes things look much much worse.

So if I play my recordings with Media Player or CyberLink things look great, but not in GBPVR.

Anyone have suggestion what to try next other then giving up?

This is what's happening to me. I have my htpc set to output to hdmi on samsung tv. The problem I have that most of the time I use my cable box then I want to switch to watch something on gbpvr. The tv detect there is something connected to my hdmi port, but does not show any picture.
To solve this I have to do a manual restart and after post it activases video display.
Is there a setting to force XP on my hvr1600 to always sends the video output?

  Client won't dispaly any video
Posted by: MTBboy - 2009-05-24, 05:12 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (21)

I have been trying to set-up a client machine using GB PVR. My PC with the TV tuner card in it is going fine now (WinXP, Hauppauge HVR-2200).
The Client machine (XP) can connect and correctly show what capture sources are available, however when I go to watch live TV or watch a recording all I get is a blank window, and then after 10 seconds it returns to the menu.
I have installed teh Power DVD codec's which was the problem I initially encountered with my server PC. I had to have the firewall off or specifically open port 7968 on the server to get the client to connect to the GBPVR server and see the available capture sources.
What else could be wrong that I cannot get any picture.
The logs for the server and client are attached.
Thanks

QAM frequency change; now GBPVR won't display them live
Posted by: fiteclub - 2009-05-23, 09:23 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (9)

Sub,

I have several ongoing issues, one is in this thread:

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=41935

which I think you are working on.

The second is the problem mentioned in this thread which did not happen to me until I upgraded to the latest HDHomerun firmware:

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=42232

A third issue that may or may not be related to one of the above issues is that my local cable company remapped the frequency of a couple of my digital channels. They have done this in the past and all I had to do was rescan the digital channels in config.exe and select the new frequency to be mapped. I just did this for the three channels that they reassigned but now when I choose the channel I just get I blank black screen. If I try to quick record, it starts making a .ts file but I cannot play it if I choose "play" from the guide menu. If I cancel the recording, then I can play the recorded program just fine. (I get same results using DVR-MS mux) Any ideas?

BTW the CBS channel is still behaving as described in the first referenced post above.

  Green blocks/Artifacts flashing on screen
Posted by: imagn - 2009-05-23, 06:14 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

I have an issue on my client where i seem to be getting green blocks/artifacts appearing at random times in most of my ts QAM recordings.

Is is different for each show and can me minimal with very little annoyance to happening frequently throughout the recording.

I am using a 790GX board with onboard video hd3300

This only occurs in GBPVR any other player and all is fine no green blocks Also no green blocks on my Server, but i use a 8600gt for video playback there.

Also tried different decoders, with all the different renderers and i get the same results with all of them

So just wondering if there is anything i can do about the green blocks flashing on my screen or am i stuck wih it.
