  Can't see encrypted channels
Posted by: Reddwarf - 2009-05-19, 08:20 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (12)

After finally getting my Cinergy C HD set up with add-on-card and CAM with smartcard I expected to see the encrypted pay-tv channels, but I can still only see the free (unencrypted) channels, and only in the preview window while mapping digital channels.

I'v installed the cyberlink mux and decoders which should work, or not? Am I missing something essential here?

  post recording missing!
Posted by: glenn3451 - 2009-05-19, 01:41 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (16)

hi all! i am new to a home built pvr! just a forewarning. now onto my problem, i have tried alot of different programs to make an older computer into a htpc that can record and play tv and movies. this is a stand alone system. its hardware is as follows...

amd 3800 x2 (socket 939)
msi k8n neo4 plat. motherboard
2 gigs of ddr 400
8600 gts
and for tuners i have
HVR-950
ATI HDTV Wonder
and i have on order... HVR-1800 (i think in order to get the qam from the cable company we get i need this card?)

and of coarse we have basic cable.

now the problem i am running into is i cannot figure out how to fix my recording problem. i will record something (i have tried regular recordings and manual recordings) and as soon as the file is done recording its gone. it was in the pending tab until it finished then it disappeared. i read about this problem in another topic only problem is im new! so i couldnt really figure out where the postprocessing.bat is and how to edit it so my recordings will stay around (assuming that is the problem, i know live tv works, but that is about the extent of what i know for sure...)

thanks for any help!

  HDHomerun Guide Channel Issues
Posted by: Ranger One - 2009-05-18, 11:20 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Anyone else having guide name & number & "duplicate" issues with the latest software for the HDHomerun? My QAM setup is now hosed & of course I didn't remember to set a restore point before I updated the software. I've been using the "ATSC/REMAP" option to scan the QAM channels due to the way TW remaps the local QAMS here (1_1, 1_3 etc). I can't get GBPVR to scan channel 1 in the channel mapping so that's why the ATSC/REMAP.

If anyone has a fix it would be appreciated!

  Reboot on DVB EPG Update
Posted by: IanD - 2009-05-18, 11:03 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Since Friday, every time my machine has attempted an EPG update, it has rebooted as soon as it the EPG update has started.
The same happens if I set off an EPG update manually. I've tried deleting all channels, emptying the EPG and rescanning but the same happens when I attempt to populate the EPG.
It's a Freecom DVB USB stick Type 3 if that makes any difference - been using it with GBPVR for a couple of years.
Any bright ideas gratefully received!

gbpver and Vista + Cats Eye 3560 usb
Posted by: cougarse - 2009-05-18, 11:01 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

Hello everyone, new to the forum and new to gvpvr.

My setup consists of tiny Vista, the latest version of gbpvr and a Cats Eye 3560 usb tuner. I'm having some trouble getting it to work with this tuner. In the config under capture sources I can see my tuner by checking the only show devices detected on this machine. Thats using the digital recording plugin. I'm using the xmltv plugin for EPG. Everything seems to go ok, except when I click "map digital channels to EPG channels". While its doing its scan for tv channels I can see the green connection link on the tuner light up when it locks on a channel but gbpvr is not seeing it. I'v tried a few different things but nothing seems to work, the tuner will scan for channels but never find any. I've done some reading on here and will continue to do so, but for now any input would be appreciated!

Edit : Ah! Messed up thread title and can't change!

PVRX2 plays first channel fine, then "No signal Detected"
Posted by: Gort10 - 2009-05-18, 04:58 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (34)

What works: SDTV (WinTV PVR UsB2)

What works once: any HDTV channel - I can run PVRX2, select any HD channel and it plays fine.
If I then hit escape to return to the menu and select any other HD channel, or even reselect the same channel I just viewed it displays "No signal detected". If I completely close and reopen PVRX2 it will again play any channel, once.
I notice that the GBPVR recording service launches two instances of PVRX2, and launching PVRX2 adds a third. When I watch a channel and then hit escape to return to the menu the third instance of PVRX2 continues to run. When I close PVRX2 completely the third instance stops running, then starts again when I relaunch PVRX2. This closing and reopening of the third instance seems to be the only thing that makes channel viewing possible, and this does not occur when I simply return to the menu and try to select another channel. I am wondering if GBPVR is trying to launch a fourth instance of PVRX2 and finding three already running is becoming confused somehow.

Having to restart recordingservice for ir to work
Posted by: #66 - 2009-05-18, 01:06 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

After a bit of use, mainly after recording something, I have to restart the recording service so that USB-URIT works (blasting to STB) If I remember correctly, there is a fix that has something to do with "interact with desktop".

I can't remember and yes I have done a search!

  Audio Device Switching Utilities
Posted by: bogyver - 2009-05-18, 04:35 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

I was looking for some software to make my gbpvr server goto sleep from the command line and stumbled on some audio switching software that might be useful for some of you.
I remembered at one point someone said they had two sound cards and wanted to be able to change between them easily so one could be hooked up the the reviver for surround sound and the other to headphones for night time listing.

http://www.quicksoundswitch.toflo.de/eng/index.html
supports command line usage so it could be called as a custom task in gbpvr. I was looking a the guys sleep / shutdown / log off tool and it gets great reviews so I figure this tool is probably good as well.

http://www.vistaaudiochanger.com/About.aspx
my quick look over doesn't indicate that this supports command line but it does support hot keys for switching so you could change with either you keyboard or remote if you used hip or something similar. This was linked to form the previous software's page and looks nice.

On a side note does any one know of a way to make windows run a command on resume form sleep so I could wake my gbpvr server before gbpvr starts up. It would be nice to only wake it when its needed instead of waking at a specific time everyday and avoid the mad dash to wake up the server on weekends when my wife turns on the client and the servers not up.
