So, I have been following the wiki page describing how to setup the Harmony remote, but I am running into a problem with the WinLirc.exe file. It says that it is failing to initialize. I am running Vista 32 Ultimate. Any known issues there? Do I need to do something in the configuration to make it initialize properly? Should I turn off Windows Firewall?
Ger Teunis has added support for launching mvpmcx2 and GB-PVR from his excellent CSI program http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...#pid188521 Using CSI mvpmcx2 can be installed on a PCH remote hard disk without setting up a share avoiding many of the the difficulties new users have faced.
I highly recommended that all new users start with the NMTInstall2 program to install N-PVR for the NMT, then install mvpmcx2 via CSI and then test directly from the NMT webservices.
It deviates slightly from the normal scripts and I'd like to use this thread for feedback and to discuss it as we learn more about it.
Good luck and thanks to Ger for this excellent work.
I've spent hours trying to get a successful channel scan with GBPVR's config.exe. Using the latest downloads from GBPVR and HDHR, I can see the channel strength and quality in the app (and the logs), but channels are never mapped. HDHR's utilities see the PIDs, and I can even watch the channels in WMP on the home server.
I thought it might be a muxing issue, so I installed the Cyberlink mux (no difference), then I installed the DirectX9 redistribution hoping maybe missing VMR9 was the culprit, but no joy there either.
I've attached my logs hoping someone can see something I am missing. I'm no newbie to ATSC OTA programming - I've used mythtv since 2002 with various ATSC hardware. But I'm stumped here!
My db3 file has suddenly grown from a few megabytes to almost 17 Gb. I was playing around with vidimport, and I suspect this may have caused it (post is duplicated in that section). Does anyone know how to clean out the mess without losing my current list of recordings?
I have never been able to get any of the Transcode options to work; neither the automatic transcodes configured in the config.xml, nor the transcode button from the video library. They just do nothing, and return control immediately.
I've been through the XML and confirmed that all transcode options are set to TRUE, and have a commandline, etc.
Edit: I would also like to use this to invoke my own batch file, so that I can process other files in customised ways (unzip, unrar, launch other players, etc.)
Similarly, none of the power control options under SYSTEM (standby, restart, etc.) do anything more than close PVRx2
Edit: I found the flag to correct this in the XML file (setting the SystemRestartIsAppOnly flag to FALSE). However, it invokes a standby too deep to be awakened by my remote or for scheduled recordings. I have encountered this problem before, and corrected it by writing a request for the system to instead stand by one minute later. Is there any way that I can reprogram the Standby button from the SYSTEM menu to invoke a batch file that I write myself (similar to my question about Transcode, above).
I got the analog setup working because of a previous post, but I'm still struggling setting up the digital. The included software works fine with the QAM DTV signals from Comcast. I can't get it to work in gb pvr yet.
Any suggestions?
Thanks...

I really really want to drop media centre and move to GBPVR however:
Goal is to stream live tv to client PC, live tv works great on server (TV) computer after some jigging and pokein.
However when i set the other pc up for client mode, EPG works fine streaming doesnt want to start at all and when i set file sharing mode i plays for a few seconds and stops, i changed the buffer to 4000 then 9000 plays for a little longer and then stops
Both machines are vista 32 ultimate, used the latest GB-PVR 1.13.11 and with and without the patches in the GB-PVR 1.13.11 survival guide.
Tried turning off the firewalls on both, no change, i know others users have had problems with client live tv play back and i thinking it had hit the end of the file and stopping to early.
However even with the max buffer of 9000ms (9 seconds) i still get the fault.
Everything works great apart from streaming live TV which is the one reason i want to drop media centre and stop having to use webguide4.
Someone please help me shed some light on this, ive tried both 100mbps and 1000mbps connection and still get the issue.
I think if i could get streaming working instead of sharing it would sort out all my headaches however its like its just not running on the server, screen goes black and then drops me back to the epg menu.
In file sharing mode, the files created in the main share however it grows very slowly takes maybe 10 seconds before it increases in size a second time, ive tried changing the write cache settings on the hard drive and that made no diffirence.
another user had a similar problem, but he fixed it a larger buffer, however it wont fix mine, its like the server pc doesnt write the data to the file frequently enough.
I have been outta the loop for the last year or so (busy being a new dad and all ) but tried searching for answers to my questions and can't find them.
Way back in an old version of GB-PVR there was a feature that would display on the main menu what was currently being recorded and what was recording soon. Is there anything like this that can be enabled in PVRX2 while using the Slick skin? We really miss that feature.
Along the same lines, it would really be nice to see which tuners the items that are recording are using. Since the PVR is dedicated to the TV and we don't use a keyboard and mouse, just a remote, getting that info from the tray icon isn't an option. The reason this would be handy is to see which tuner(s) are being used to know what our live tv viewing options are since not all tuners have all the channels available.
Does the latest version already includes some supported plugins?
I was told that it for example includes the Videos Library Plugin, don't want to install things that are already incorporated, however it won't make any harm, right?
